REHOBOTH WOMAN ARRESTED FOR TRESPASSING, RESISTING ARREST

Brenda Gibbons, 58, of Rehoboth Beach was arrested on Sunday for trespassing on private property and resisting arrest.

Just before 4:00pm on July 14 2019, officers responded to 235 Rehoboth Ave for a report of a subject laying down in the driveway. Upon arrival to the dual use commercial/residential location, officers found the suspect face down in the driveway.

Officers contacted Gibbons and upon determining that she was not in need of medical attention, suspected Gibbons of being intoxicated. Officers attempted find a responsible party to whom Gibbons could be released. Gibbons became uncooperative and made accusatory statements to officers. Officers attempted to place Gibbons under arrest at which time she resisted by pulling her hands away and pushing the officer.

Gibbons charged with 1 count of criminal trespass in the third degree and 1 count of resisting arrest, both of which are misdemeanors. Gibbons was committed to Sussex Correction Institution in default of $1,001.00 secured bail.

  1. $1,001 in bail? Why the extra $1? :-) did the commissioner on duty like the movie 101 Dalmatians? :-)

  4. Drunk old lady, what a threat to public safety. Just put up with her BS and drive her home. Is arresting her in everyone’s interest? No. Do we need to burden our courts with this kind of nonsense? Resisting arrest, give me a break. I’m surprised they didn’t add Assaultin an Officer. Sad.

  8. Each court commissioner has there own crazy number they throw on a defendant, so they know what commissioner the defendant went before ...
