What improvements would you like to see in Wicomico County?

  1. DWI patrols in da hood.

  2. New roads within the city of Salisbury. They seem to have money for everything else. I’m beginning to hate coming back to my hometown.

  3. 1. More attention paid to the outlying areas of the county. For example, why is county parks dept only providing summer fun events in the city?
    2. A genuine review of drainage and flooding issues with real solutions. Not just telling homeowners and HOAs that they need to cut weeds in the ditches. Also areas other than Pratt Road need to be considered.
    3. Truly qualified individuals in key positions. Examples of buddies and gal pals holding positions that they are unqualified for are too numerous to list.
    4. School financial accountability. We need to see fact based results.
    5. Take the city of Salisbury to court for back rent or evict them from the GOB.
    6. County Council and the County exec need to establish a shared vision and mission with goals and plans to reach those goals.
    7. Economic development office needs to earn their keep or get out of the way. Real businesses with good paying jobs need to be wooed. We don’t need any more bars or craft breweries.

    I’ll give this more thought.

    1. Lower taxes and give big businesses incentive to move back to the Eastern Shore. Why do you think they moved out!

  4. I'd like to see them finish removing those danged blue markers on the roads so that the Fire Dept. could find where the hydrants are!

  5. A completely new County council for starters.

Elimination of all public education and it be put into a voucher system.

Complete funding of MAC. Inc. for the elderly

No money or cooperation in any way, given to the National Culture festival.

A new Sheriff without a doubt.

A push for some retail development on the east side of town. Without K-Mart, There's nothing. It may have been More expensive than Walmart on the price tag, but not when you figure in driving across the county like we have to do now.

Keep rentals to college students out of the county. They are a pain (animals) and don't know how to appreciate living in developments. I know, we have a mess next door to us. State police are on top of our phone contacts list we call them so much.

  6. Programs for all the kids of the county not just section 8 programs. More diversity programs not just little black kids

  7. Fiscal responsible republican leadership.

  8. Kind of county related:
I wish my kids school was not so over crowded due to the tremendous amount of special permissions handed out by the principal. It is insane that they do not follow their own guidelines. It is almost like they are recruiting for the sports programs. I guess we will see the truth when fall/spring comes around and who is on the various teams.

  9. I would like to see some kind of park on the western part of the county Between Hebron and Mardela. I have to drive across town to go to winterplace or two either the Salisbury Park or Pemberton Park. Be nice to have a place to both walk my dog or run. I live on a busy country road which is difficult to do either of these things without having to drive out of my way.

  11. Hickman lane , a county road is not passable , you cannot drive down this road because the county doesn't grade it , so far two vehicles have been towed out .
When Mr. Bradly was grading for the county he insured it was done monthly.
Wake up Culver and smell the roses in my neighborhood , it's only a few miles from your house.HICKMAN lane from spring lane to Nanticoke road. Get er done!

  13. Quit rubbere stamping every monetary request that the school board makes. Time to reign them in. The people in this county cannot afford this school system.

  15. A Mayor and Police Chief with some intelligence.

  16. More radar on secondary roads. Riverside drive is a nightmare in the early morning and with the motorcycles from 4-6 pm

  17. A Health Department that had a true leader and created an atmosphere of customer service

  18. All the roads south of Rt50 from Walston Switch south and east to the county line need the limbs trimmed back from the roads, you can't even meet another vehicle without scratching your vehicle with the limbs, use to see county limb trimming crews in the fall and winter cutting limbs along the roads, haven't seen them the last few years, it's dangerous, besides scratching your vehicle you can't even see around a lot of the curves. The other day I was on Purnell Cross road, the bridge and road on the south side of the bridge are awful, can't even see the guardrails for the weeds and the road will damage your vehicle. What has happened to the road crews that used to maintain this area??

  21. How about some right hand turn lanes?

  22. How about open the voter registration for mayor fo all of the county to solicit additional candidates for the position since the city does affect the county as a whole !!!! would give the people more opportunity to elect a more qualified candidate

  23. I moved back to this area after being gone for many years due to job transfers, etc.
People ask why we can’t get more manufacturing jobs?
When companies look in an area to put a branch of their business they often know that management will be transferred in from another one of their branches. Wicomico County has affordable housing for the middle class but not good school ratings. Companies take a pass because they know their mid managers and managers will want a good school district. The schools need enforced discipline and support for the teachers. Too much money spent on admin salaries and not the true educators in the class room. Improve your schools and people will be willing to move to your area and your tax base will rise as home values will rise. I have seen this happen in a couple other states and know that takes time but it is worth it for the students and the entire community.

"No Robin that's Jake Day, but you are kinda right. He is a Joke."

  25. A county career fire/ems department supplemented by volunteers. No more toning out , waiting a few minutes over and over to get someone there when seconds can matter in life and death. I’ll pay more. We need this.

    ReplyDelete
  26. 10:29 You must be looking to get paid. Tired of volunteering are you? The County does not need it and cannot afford it.

  27. @ July 10, 2019 at 2:22 PM. I had the same problem where I used to live in Fruitland. I had to call the police all the time on the college kids next door. When I finally talked to the police, they said I should have them stop at my house every time I call and make direct contact with them so it would be filed. They also told me I only had to call them three times and then the house next door would be emptied. 3 times and they would be out. It worked. Called three different times and one day when I came home from work, they were gone. Not long after that, I started having trouble with a different type of people down the street. But that's a different story. But the police thing worked on them too. When you call the police, ask for them to stop by your home and have a talk with them about stopping the nuisance.

  28. The people having an actual say in what goes on in our county. The County Council does not rule over us. They work for us and should ask our advice as to what WE want. Not what THEY want.

  29. Enforcement of the immigration laws. There are hispanics who are starting their own business's now that their American employer taught them how to run their own business. They will take their former employers customers now. Such as Lopez Painting. Saw them in Ihop. And they had NO Americans working for them, which is required of a foreign run business. This county is getting overrun with them.
