Rep. Will Hurd, R-Texas, says he’d like to see a more diverse Republican Party, and that it should be “a broad party.”
In an interview aired Sunday on NBC News’ “Meet the Press,” Hurd lamented the lack of African-Americans in Congress — and said the GOP must be more diverse to win voters.
"I think the Republican Party should be a broad party,” he said.
“I shouldn't be the only African-American Republican in the House of Representatives,” he said, adding that “ruby-red Texas" is "actually purple."
"If we want to keep a Republican Party in Texas, the Republican Party in Texas needs to start looking like Texas,” he said. “I think that goes for the rest of the country as well.”

[That would work if more black people would run, Mr. Hurd-- but apparently they all want to be Democrats. --Editor]
He is right you know. The problem is that all the GOP's of color have jobs. Unlike all the Obama wannabes who's only jobs are dragging down the people around them.
ReplyDeleteNo such thing as african-American, it's one or the other
ReplyDeleteSure, because YOU said so. Lol
DeleteNo, because it a fact
DeleteLol tell you what. When that Census questionaires arrives and you see the AA category, call up Trump and argue your nonsense with him.
DeleteHow so? Does that mean Irish Americans , or Italian Americans etc... Do not exist either?
DeleteYou can call yourselves what you want, but if you were born in the United States, you are an American, if you were born in Africa , you are an African, if you very born in Italy, you are Italian. Must I go on, or can you figure this out on your own now ?
DeleteYou really dont get how this works huh? Just because you make up something in your mind does not make it true.
DeleteProve me wrong loser boy
DeleteThe Republican party no longer exists. Trump is abandoning bedrock issues — balanced budgets, free trade and strong support for NATO — that formed what used to be the modern Republican Party.
ReplyDeleteCan’t balance a budget without congress he’s brought back free trade and screw NATO America first
DeleteRep. Mia Love was a Republican in Congress. She ran for the Senate and was defeated in the primary by Mitt Romney.
ReplyDeleteIt would be good for more Republicans to come from a wider range of backgrounds. That said, they should be people of accomplishment and character rather than just an accident of birth.
maybe he's the only one with an iq above 100! most don't even make it above room temp!
