The NBA might nix the term “owner” from its vocabulary so as to avoid the suggestion of racial insensitivity, according to a new report.
The report from TMZ Sports states that two franchises have already made the switch, referring to their majority shareholders by other names. Los Angeles Clippers owner Steve Balmer is referred to as the team’s “CEO,” and the Philadelphia 76ers now refer to their main shareholders as “limited partners.”
The TMZ report pointed to an episode of LeBron James‘ HBO show “The Shop,” in which Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green appeared to take offense to the term “owner,” saying it fosters a “slave-to-master” relationship.

Will they eliminate the NBA draft, too, because it looks too much like slaves on an auction block?
ReplyDeleteHockey next ? Time for civil war on these lib scum
DeleteTwo players worth a combined BILLION dollars and this is the thank you they come up with. Change the nape racist white man.

ReplyDeleteThey should free those slaves to get real jobs. What BS! Instead of contracts like a small country's GNP they could take up a free will offering at the game and distribute to the players evenly.
Remind me again why I stopped paying any attention to the NBA.
Can't wait until the ratings are so bad that the league starts to contract, then folds.
ReplyDeleteOne of the reasons I don't watch televised sports anymore...
ReplyDeleteScrew that. If I use my money to buy something, I own it.
ReplyDeleteYes this is all too comical. People are not watching these fools who can barely speak intelligible English, are arrested for their off court antics, and don't know how to manage their sizable estates; LeBron being an exception modeled after the great Michael Jordan who was truly a gentleman. He is an owner so does that put him in the "slave-to-master" category?
ReplyDeleteLol you guys show who the real snowflakes are daily. Melt down over a private company making small changes to impact employee satisfaction. Big whoop
ReplyDeleteI guess those players need their safe space.
ReplyDeleteThe owner owns the team. The player is an employee. How is that anything like slavery? People are butthurt nuts sometimes.
ReplyDelete@8:03 you're a f'ing idiot! Who exactly is melting down? I think people are just showing their disgust and are tired of whining and crying about something mist of them have no personal knowledge of. It's getting old crying and whining about slavery and racism. These so called athleteshave the mentality and maturity of about a 12y/o. They are given extreme wealth and opportunity just because they can play basketball yet mist end up broke and unable to pay the child support to 8 different women for 10 children. That's an awesome role model for our youth isn't it? Let he's okay sum "bassetball" so I can get my momma a big house outta 'da projects. WTF is that and who really cares
ReplyDeletePlain and simple if you feel like a slave then leave the plantation and go get a job! It is that simple, oh but then again what slave got paid millions to play a game? Name one! Just one and I will apologize and have ymthis post removed...just one, should be simple for you, simple minded!!
