Christian Charter School Kicked Out of Voucher Program for Biblical Views on Sexuality

Don’t say America wasn’t warned. During the oral arguments for same-sex marriage in 2015, a question came up about the fallout for Christian education.

Asked if religious schools could be punished for holding a natural view of marriage, U.S. Solicitor Donald Verrilli was surprisingly honest. ” … [I]t’s certainly going to be an issue. I don’t deny that, Justice Alito. It is going to be an issue.”

Four years later, that prophecy is coming to pass.

In Maryland, a Christian charter school was told by state officials that it can’t participate in the voucher program anymore because of its biblical beliefs on marriage and sexuality.

The leadership of Bethel Christian Academy was stunned. After all, it relied on that money to serve the school’s 280 low-income kids. For two years, those vouchers were what made their option to public school possible.

Now, intolerant bureaucrats are telling Bethel that not only is it barred from the program, but it has to pay back the $100,000 it received—which, to a small academy like this one, is a financial death sentence.

    Kamala Harris needs to cry me a river she complained she had to be BUSED to school ? Hmmm her mother was a cancer scientist and her father was rich she DIDN'T need bused she was richer more than most WHITE KIDS back then.

  4. Hogan where do you stand on this? You allow MD to be a sanctuary State and support illegals , but you penalize Christians who are assisting US citizens. Hogan, you and MD Politians are showing their true colors. All those involved should be fired with no type of compensation. You on one hand proclaim Christianity when it is to your political benefit but penalize Christians in your next sentence. Hogan what a hypocrite you and your fellow Politians are.

  5. this needs to be challenged.its against free speech and ITS OUR MONEY!!! the voucher program is the only way eduction will ever stand a chance of getting back to basics. if we need to pull control from the cold dead hands of these communists running the system. then so be it. Godless, is why education is in the current condition. so if its ok to preach and indoctrinate young minds to marxist and luciferian idealolgy, then a religious school also has that right to stand opposite of those beliefs and use tax funds (vouchers) to pay for it.

  7. A Christian School shouldn't be getting public dollars in the first place. Any kind of religious school shouldn't.

    The public pays taxes to educate children, not indoctrinate.
