Hummmm I think she may finally be on to something
ReplyDeleteThis is 100% correct I'm a teacher in Wicomico County....This isn't the fault of Wicomico it's the State. We have wacko's in Annapolis and the Department of Justice deciding how we are supposed to allow poor behavior in school.
ReplyDeleteAnd another thing!! If a student comes into school with drugs/tobacco/juel and they are caught, why do we use the Maryland Code of conduct rather than the LAW? These offenses have severe consequences when you step 1 foot off of the campus.
We have kids blatantly walking the hallways when they should be in class telling anyone that confronts them about it to "f-off". Administration truthfully has no consequence for them. At best they get put into a room with the other bad kids so they can have a party and play on their phones all day. Don't worry...they will get socially promoted. Then they have to do a "bridge project" to get them to graduate. This is basically a last ditch effort for some teacher to write their project so the school doesn't get penalized for "leaving someone behind".
These kids see that there are no consequences other than maybe a "talking to" then they go back and do it again.
After a while teachers/administration just stop caring and ignore the problem. What happens when one of those kids starts raping another student in the hallway/bathroom etc. Oh, let me guess we'll move them to another school in the county for another principle to deal with and hopefully they won't do it again.
Seems the all powerful teachers union keeps helping these "whacko's get elected in Annapolis.
DeleteYes, teachers elected these wackos all by themselves. May some non-teaching voters will participate in the next election. That should get the education system back on track.
DeleteGood point. There is no respect in the classroom and kids are being dumbed down by social media. The art of parenting has been lost.

ReplyDeleteThis can all be traced back to Obama. He was the one that decided too many minorities were getting in trouble so his solution was to not punish them. We can see that worked out really well. Now you haves kids that are not held accountable in school and when they get out of school they think the same thing. Schools claim they have a no bullying policy yet kids every day deal with bullying and nothings is ever done to stop it. Discipline needs to start early and continue throughout a child's life.

ReplyDelete$100,000 a year??? I wish. I taught for 40 years in both Maryland and Delaware and my top salary (with 2 Masters Degrees) never exceeded $62,000. My wife (also with a Masters Degree) is currently in her 26th year of teaching locally and last year she made $56,000. Summers off? How about from the end of June until mid August? That's like 7 weeks and it takes her that long to decompress from all the bullshit she has to put up with during the school year. A-Hole kids and their even bigger A-Hole parents...texting and emailing her 7 days a week at all hours of the day and night. Go on and believe your fairy tales 10:43. You don't have a freakin' clue.
