SAN FRANCISCO — After years of wavering about how to handle the extreme voices populating its platform, Facebook on Thursday evicted seven of its most controversial users — many of whom are conservatives — immediately inflaming the debate about the power and accountability of large technology companies.
The social network said it had barred Alex Jones, the conspiracy theorist and founder of Infowars, from its platform, along with a handful of other extremists. Louis Farrakhan, the outspoken black nationalist minister who has frequently been criticized for his anti-Semitic remarks, was also banned. The Silicon Valley company said these users were disallowed from using Facebook and Instagram under its policies against “dangerous individuals and organizations.”
“We’ve always banned individuals or organizations that promote or engage in violence and hate, regardless of ideology,” a Facebook spokeswoman said in a statement. “The process for evaluating potential violators is extensive and it is what led us to our decision to remove these accounts today.”

What no liberals, Anarchist, Black Lives Matter or Soros backed organizations? They are still blackballing who they disagree with and they are mostly conservatives?
ReplyDeleteThey won’t stop there. Communists. You should really get off of Facebook and Instagram.
ReplyDeletePublic social media censoring it's users and content! Maybe we should treat them appropriately...! Use the ones that promote freedom and shun the ones that promote discord!
ReplyDelete*sigh* yet another idiot comment. You do realize FB is not owned by "the public" (eg the government). The company is free to host users as they wish
DeleteFunny how they don't remove ISIS and other terrorist groups from using their services, but it says they would ban anyone who promotes hate... hmmm
ReplyDeleteI don't know why you people even waste your time using their crap... I got rid of FB years ago and never looked back since... they track you, keep your data and try to use it against you... and you all are addicted to it for no reason... They have a right to ban or block anyone they want... It is a private company... if you don't like it don't use it... This is not like a public website run by the city where if they delete your post they can be sued...
Actually they do remove ISIS. But dont let the facts get in the way of your uninformed opinion. Of course tech firms arent perfect but clearly they have taken robust steps to scrub their platforms.
DeleteWho even goes on those site ? They have never been secure .
ReplyDeletealex jones is pulling the dragons tail and they know it
ReplyDeleteoh is that what you call it; 'robust'...I do get taking down ISIS and other terrorists groups and those that promote terrorism...along with the Muslim Brotherhood, Farrakhan, Soros and his ilk...but for the most part let free speech reign...
ReplyDeleteI got off FB three years ago. I did not like families sending every picture that they themselves loved, and I can understand it is "their families". But everyone you know does not need to know what you do every minute of your day every picture of your kids, your pets, your trips too much TMI. Then there were those who wanted to "friend you" and send everyone on their friends list to you. One guy started dating a Arab girl and I started getting 20 young guys a day wanting to give you their personal info. If someone friends you it should have met (just you) not every immigrant person that they associate with. Then there were the threats when they figured out who your family was and started sending who's breaking up with who in your family, and clearly didn't even know your family all just weird made up stuff. Best thing I tell anyone that asks is stay off Facebook !!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteA private company making a policy decision about who uses it's services, and who it does business with. Nothing particularly controversial about it.
ReplyDeleteRemember, with companies like facebook... USERS are the product. Companies can decide what product they want to stop and
No ones freedoms have been taken away or limited, one iota.
Now the POS snooop Dogg is sticking up for the Bitch Farrakhan.
ReplyDeleteBut ANTIFA DC is still up ????
ReplyDelete2:06 wrong.
ReplyDeleteLet em' have their little club. Who cares.

ReplyDeleteHmmm
you do realize FB is a creation of intelligence, right?
