After a group of alleged shoplifters rammed a mall security vehicle, a Delaware permit holder fired multiple rounds at the suspects’ tires. The suspects ended up still getting away. And the permit holder might face from legal problems.
The incident began at the Brandywine Hundred Concord Mall, according to Delaware Online. Supposedly, four individuals had stolen items from inside the mall before trying to get away in a vehicle. As they were fleeing, the driver intentionally ran into a security vehicle. That’s when the permit holder, who was carrying his gun, opened fired at the tires of the vehicle. The suspects then jumped from the disabled vehicle and fled on foot.
The permit holder waited at the scene for police to arrive. The suspects got away, but left their vehicle at the scene. No one has reported any injuries in the incident. State police are searching for the alleged shoplifters and investigating whether this was a justified shooting.

Good guy with a gun. If he gets in trouble, the authorities are just as bad as the thugs.
ReplyDeleteYeah that could be a problem. His life was not in danger and the culprits were not visibly armed. It's these cowboy antics that are going to ruin things for responsible permit holders.
ReplyDeleteThe problem is he needed to fire at the suspect not tires! The guy tried to kill the security guy in the car by ramming it, that justifies deadly force to protect the security guy.

DeleteWell, you could say the guards life was in danger, and their vehicle was the weapon. Or a ricochet off the perps car could have killed someone. I think I would have been hesitant to shoot in this situation.
ReplyDelete10:22,
ReplyDeleteThank you.
I would not have fired under these circumstances.
ReplyDeleteShould not even be thinking about an investigation, certainly it was justified, he was aiming at tires, not people. And if one of the bullets happened to hit one of them, it was still justified. Shoplifting is against the law, not perfectly OK to do.
ReplyDeleteHaving a permit to carry does not deputize anyone to take the law into their own hands. This is the kind of stuff the left will use to take issue.

Northwest Woodsman: I’m a retired former police officer and former federal special agent. I fully support the second amendment and have been carrying guns since I was 13 years old. I must say, this yahoo permit holder obviously has no idea what responsibilities come with carrying a weapon. This is the type of individual that provides fodder to the anti-gun bed welters that want to take guns away from law abiding citizens. Since I was not there I am basing my opinion on what was presented. However, it does not appear to have been a situation where anyone was in fear for their lives and the perps were unarmed. You don’t shoot at tires when you make the decision to employ deadly force just like you don’t “ shoot them in the leg”. Probably a cop wannabe looking for a situation to use his weapon. Fully admit that I could be mistaken because details are sketchy.
