Fourth case of measles diagnoses in Maryland

BALTIMORE — A fourth case of measles has been reported in Maryland, the state's Department of Health confirmed Friday.

The case is confined to the same set of zip codes for which the previous three cases were found – 21208, 21209, and 21215. The Department of Health warns anyone who visited 4000 Old Court Road in Pikesville on Tuesday April 16, from 9:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. they may have been exposed to measles.

This is the third time health officials have warned about potential exposure tied to that address. Previously, anyone who had been to that location on April 2, between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m., or on April 14, from 10:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. may have been exposed to the virus. Officials also warned of potential exposure for anyone who visited Market Maven from 11:45 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. or Seven Mile Market from 12:45 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. Sunday, April 14. Both locations are in Pikesville.

  2. It's not being put out there, but the most recent large active clusters of measles, according to CDC, have been in traditionally unvaccinated and very close knit populations, Amish and small New York City Jewish communities.

  4. "In their latest report, the CDC admits that measles cases are actually coming from international travelers. “These outbreaks are linked to travelers who brought measles back from other countries such as Israel, Ukraine, and the Philippines, where large measles outbreaks are occurring,” says the CDC."

  6. Oh no, it's measles! Something every kid used to get, and get over. I don't remember one kid dying, or having any lasting effects from having the measles. The vaccine, over the years, has made anyone getting the measles, an "epidemic." For something that was once just a childhood illness that just inconvenienced schools (and parents). Get it once, and done. Measles was NEVER a health crisis, until the vaccine was introduced. Go figure....
