Incident: Fatal Collision – Upper Ferry Road

Date of Incident: March 24, 2019

Location: Upper Ferry at Wicomico River

Deputies identified the body of Sara Stilwell, age 47, of Salisbury, who was recovered from the Wicomico river on March 24, 2019 at approximately 1630 hours. Sara’s vehicle collided with a street sign and then the cable barrier at the ferry ramp before the vehicle continued into the river. The vehicle was recovered on March 25, 2019 at approximately 1100 hours and towed from the scene. Both the body and the vehicle recovery were conducted with assistance from the MSP Dive Team.

The Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing the investigation into the cause of the crash, which is believed to have occurred on March 23, 2019 at approximately 2030 hours.
