1:50 AM - To answer your question, it's an old, old name.
Letitia comes from the Late Latin name Laetitia which meant "joy, happiness". This was the name of an obscure saint, who is revered mainly in Spain. It was in use in England during the Middle Ages, usually in the spelling Lettice, and it was revived in the 18th century.
My great-great grandmother's name was Letitia. She was born in Lancashire, England, in 1868. My great aunt was named after her. It's also my little sister's middle name, although she doesn't let anyone know because, she says, it sounds "old ladyish".
