SALISBURY – School leaders this week approved a final feasibility study for improvements at Mardela Middle and High School.
On Tuesday, Facility Planner Matt Auchey presented the Wicomico County Board of Education with a completed feasibility study for Mardela Middle and High School. The study included four options for improving the facility, from simple mechanical and electrical upgrades to a completely new school.
“The School Building Commission recommended Option 3,” he said, “as well as the superintendent and the community.”
According to the feasibility study, the third option calls for a revised parking layout, a two-story addition and complete systematic upgrades to the existing space. The facility would increase from 96,000 square feet to 106,000 square feet.

ReplyDeleteIt's about time something was done for Mardela High School. They have always gotten the shaft. The 3 main high schools in Salisbury always got the goodies while poor ole Mardela got nothing. It's always been this way. I guess there aren't enough "pretty people" over Mardela way to worry about the school their kids go to. I'm glad to see they are finally get some scraps, not just the city schools getting all the nice things.
ReplyDeleteYour kidding right?! Have you ever been to wihi? I thinks its wonderful that marcela may be re built, but do not lump all the city schools together.
DeleteWE TAXpayers are fed up with welfare schools getting all the $$$$$$$$$$ look at Bennett millions put into it and you see what I get Mardela is the TOP Public school ind and the upgrade is looking OVERDUE.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad they went with option 3. I was afraid option 4 would win, which would build a new school in a location to be determined.
ReplyDeleteTook them long enough. Why is Wicomico County so set on letting the schools completely fall apart before they do something. The revenue cap is outdated and poorly thought out. This county needs better. It is old, dated and out of touch.
