BREAKING: All charges dropped against 'Empire' actor Jussie Smollett, attorneys say

CHICAGO —Prosecutors dropped all charges against “Empire” actor Jussie Smollett Tuesday.

"After reviewing all of the facts and circumstances of the case, including Mr. Smollett’s volunteer service in the community and agreement to forfeit his bond to the City of Chicago, we believe this outcome is a just disposition and appropriate resolution to this case," Cook County State's Attorney prosecutors said in a statement.

Smollett was indicted earlier this month on 16 felony counts after authorities said he filed false reports of a crime.

The indictment charged the 36-year-old with 16 counts of disorderly conduct.

  6. So forfeiting the $10,000 bond is all it takes to erase 16 Felonies, sounds like something the Kennedy's used to do. Clinton's just have witnesses killed. I guess there really is two justice systems in this country, one for Republican and one for Democrats.

  7. I agree he should be in jail over it...but....I think he ratted out the bigger fish that put him up to it....bigger rats, bigger charges

  9. Democrats, queers, fags and lesbians can wear blackface, tell lies, make up stories of attacks, rape, grope, murder and do drugs with no consequences, but let a 16 year old kid force a girl to kiss him and he can't be a supreme court judge. What a country!

  10. So....rush to judgement by the liberal media,....rush to judgement by the conservative media and now both wrong. Maybe civil discourse should be engaged and let processes work/

  11. I'm guessing that his attorney either had dirt on one of the arresting cops, they did something wrong in the investigation or withheld evidence.
The prosecutor obviously did this to avoid embarrassment to their department. A null pros does not mean that he wasn't guilty, it's just that they chose not to prosecute it.

  13. "..including Mr. Smollett’s volunteer service in the community and agreement to forfeit his bond to the City of Chicago..."

Sounds to me like a privileged person bought their way out of a guilty plea.

  14. Geez has a very familiar smell to it, kinda like the SU noose event we had.

  15. Even sadder is the fact that so many blacks are celebrating this decision. They celebrate when someone isn't held accountable. This is why 2 generation immigrants are way ahead of them in everything and why they are a race who overwhelmingly keep prisons and detention centers in business. They are a disgrace and it's no wonder why their youth are slaughtering each other and why so many are stuck herded up and corralled in the cess pools of crime and poverty. They are a race who is so uncivilized and primal they celebrate someone not taking responsibility. We saw their disgusting gross behavior when the murderer simpson got off now this. Shame on them.

  16. His GAY lover must be rich and well connected. But to tell you the truth. I'd rather go to court with 16 felonies charges than be a FAGG!!

  17. Maybe a good thing. You know you can not trust them to not riot if he was found guilty. They would use that as an excuse to tear up burn down and steal anything not nailed down.

  18. White privilege, black privilege and Jussie Smollett privilege is best of all...........

  19. So he faked racism and an attack because he is black and gay so all is forgiven. So what do those who have legitimately been violated think about him?

  20. Let us the "common people" do this and see where we would end up. White privilege my ass!!

  22. Only in Chicago! Rahm Emmanuel, no doubt orchestrated the dropping of all charges. Now watch him perform his fake indignation on TV. Corrupt in the White House, now corrupt Mayor of Chicago. No sir, can't prosecute one of his black TV star buddies, no way. No matter how guilty, or how much evidence there is. Rahm is as corrupt as they get.

  26. I know right 1:37. No accountability. But that is to be expected out of a no count "university" like SU. Not only the administrators but the facility are second rate who if SU wasn't such a bad school wouldn't have a job. They had one English professor maybe still there who couldn't even speak proper English herself. No one of any caliber would ever work there. They would be ashamed. It's on the same level as UMES.

  28. He will lie about this until his dying day. No honesty with them. You can take them out of the ghetto but they will always revert at some point back to their ghetto behaviors which includes lying and never being honest.

  29. If not for the no collusion ruling, I would be totally livid! Chicago is starting to look like the new incarnation of Detroit. Rather than industry destroying the city, it is the servants of the tax payers who are willingly destroying the Second city. Glad I visited New York in the 90's and Chicago in the 2000's. A waste of money and a huge headache to visit today.

My favorite destinations are towns along the Appalachian's. I got the best 1.5 lb Prime Rib dinner at a public golf course pub in New Market, VA for 18.99. Head for the hills for your vacations, folks! Forget the city. Nothing but headaches. Luray, or Front Royal, VA is a good start for the uninitiated.

  31. Someone's palm got greased big time. What a sham this is. This country is getting to be so crooked, all thanks to Obama getting the ball rolling. This is just disgraceful. Blacks can get away with anything and they harp on "white privilege"??? I have not seen any white privilege that could begin to compare to this sham.

  32. I wonder if someone asked Smollett to do this. Was this all pre-planned to smear Trumps name again? And Smollett screwed it up? And the charges were dropped to keep us from finding out who planned it? They dropped the charges for some reason, what with all the evidence they had against him. They are covering for someone. The Obama’s wanted the charges dropped. Did they ask him to do it?

  33. This is Chicago. Is it a wonder that they're $300,000,000,000 (yeah, billions) in the hole and sinking farther by the minute?

  34. He was innocent. Two racist black guys attacked him. Black chief set him up. Trumps fault because the Mayor said so. Vote democrat. End of story.
