House To Vote On Trillion Dollar Spending Bill Tomorrow. No One Has Read It.

The House of Representatives is scheduled to vote on a government appropriations bill Thursday evening and, with a day until the vote, lawmakers still have not received the text of the legislation.

“No one has seen the final wording of a long and complicated bill we will be expected to vote on tomorrow evening,” Republican Maryland Rep. Andy Harris told The Daily Caller News Foundation. “That’s no way to run a legislature.”

Republican Study Chairman Mike Johnson also confirmed that “as of lunch on Wednesday, members of the RSC, and to our knowledge, even members of the conference committee, had not seen the text.”

“It has been reported that [House Majority Leader Steny] Hoyer has said if the bill is dropped today we will consider it tomorrow. This is reminiscent of the, ‘you must pass it to find out what is in it,’ Obamacare debacle,” Johnson said to TheDCNF. “This bill is expected to be well over 1,000 pages, and we will potentially have less than 24 hours to digest it. This is absurd.”

  3. Thought you all introduced a law that says you must be giving enough time to review laws or bills before you vote on them???/ I guess that was smoke and mirrors for the dumb-ass american citizens right? I mean after all, they are stupid and they do believe everything you tell them, especially when the media says it...

  6. Dave T: When it comes to spending other people's money, today's politicians couldn't care less about the people they serve on that matter or any other. And until the day when we the people choose to hold them fully accountable, nothing will change. At the rate we are going, this economy will crash before we choose any action, and politicians are laughing all the way to the bank, while we work and sacrifice to keep up. After the deficit reaches 24 trillion, I've heard it said we will be at the point of no return and our interest payment on that deficit will exceed our national defense budget. If this is true, we are only a short time off from a real disaster and our adversaries know it. Meanwhile, our politicians are far more concerned about what gender for people to pick and their grand ole witch hunt. I am truly embarrassed to live among this society today, and I certainly won't miss it when I'm gone. Welcome to the modern dark ages.

  7. Well Pelosi's back. Passing humongous bills, with all kinds of hidden perks for the house members, without reading them. She is the top democrat, and the most corrupt of them all.
