UPDATE:
THE DRIVER AND LONE OCCUPANT HAS BEEN POSITIVELY IDENTIFIED AS 19 YEAR OLD TYLER WILLIAM BIRCH OF OCEAN PINES, INVESTIGATION IS CONTINUING. US 50 IS CURRENTLY SHUTDOWN, BOTH EASTBOUND AND WESTBOUND.

Previously Reported:
On 2/5/19 the Maryland State Police, Worcester County Sheriff’s Department and the Ocean City Fire Department responded to the area of US 50 and Riddle Lane for a single vehicle motor vehicle collision. Investigation revealed a vehicle heading eastbound left the roadway and struck a group of trees in the median. The driver succumbed to their injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim has not yet been positively identified. Both eastbound and westbound US 50 is shutdown at the collision scene. Investigation is continuing.
