“We need a moral and spiritual awakening in the country.”
Marianne Williamson, a best-selling author. spiritual teacher and activist, announced her bid for the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination on Monday. On Thursday, she sat down on CNN’s New Day, where she said the United States needs to pay African-Americans reparations for slavery.
“We need a moral and spiritual awakening in the country,” the candidate stated. “Nothing short of that is adequate to really fundamentally change the patterns of our political dysfunction.”
Her platform includes proposal for free public college, universal health care, Medicare for all, a green new deal and $10 billion per year for slavery reparations to be paid over the course of a decade.
“I believe $100 billion given to a council to apply this money to economic projects and educational projects of renewal for that population is simply a debt to be paid,” Williamson said.

They would be the slave owners because it wasn't illegal at the time and the Federal Government forced them to give up their slaves that they paid for and they were never compensated. Immoral or not they were purchased legally. Another unfunded mandate by the Feds!

Unless they're talking about paying back the slave owners who lost their property due to President Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation. The government should've paid back of the property owners from what they paid for their property.

She doesn’t mention the estimated 360,000+ white’s that died freeing the slaves nor the estimated 150,000+ white’s in the union that were maimed during the Civil War. She doesn’t mention that is was the French, Dutch & warring black tribes that started the slave trade. The English, Irish, Scott’s etc. did not believe in owning slaves. She didn’t mention that the English had been enslaved at least twice in history. She didn’t mention William “April” Ellison, one of several black entrepreneur that owned slaves before the Civil War. She didn’t mention that President Lincoln offered a free ride home to Africa plus pay to all slaves or partials of farm land plus a mule & tools if THEY WANTED to stay. She didn’t mention that even today there’s still slavery in Africa. Perhaps Ms. Williamson should go there and wave her banner? But then again that would be trying to do some good and doing good is not in her repertoire. Dividing the Country for votes is her goal.

ReplyDeleteThe majority of people in America today, do not have any history of slave ownership what so ever. So how can they make US pay that? Answer, they cannot. So don't get your hopes up black people. WE will not let that happen. WE are not responsible for slavery. They are telling you that to get you to vote for them. And when you ask them for the money you will get some kind of excuse as to why they do not have it yet. It's a trick. They do not have to live up to any promises they make to you.
