Blackface photos found in old University of Maryland yearbooksA number of photos featuring people wearing blackface have surfaced in old University of Maryland, College Park yearbooks.

A Twitter user discovered the images in University of Maryland yearbook archives days after a photo of two unidentified people — one in blackface and the other in a Ku Klux Klan robe — was unearthed on Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam's 1984 medical school yearbook page, sending the state into political turmoil. Virginia Attorney General Mark Herring has also admitted he once wore blackface.

University of Maryland President Wallace Loh responded to the tweet, calling the images “profoundly hurtful and distressing.”

“Traditions like this reflect a history of racial prejudice and do not convey what we seek to embody today,” he replied on Twitter.

Want to get my dire up - listen to Ralph Shearer Northam, pediatric neurologist and the Governor of Virginia . explaining full term abortion.is okay OR how Prosecutors in Queens initially included a charge of two murders against a Queens man arrested in his pregnant girlfriend’s murder — but rescinded it because of Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s new Reproductive Health Act. A press release saying Anthony Hobson, 48, would be charged with second-degree abortion as well as murder in fatal stabbing of Jennifer Irigoyen, 35. Cuomo signed the RHA into law on Jan. 22

  3. Key word in all of these instances is " Old". I think proper outrage should be reserved for future photos. This is manufactured PC BS and most people aren't amused by these tactics. Why aren't these schools being held accountable? Someone in authority had to approve of them.

  5. it was not a big deal when people were not so politically correct. how about all of the entertainers that used black face. the problem with Notham is not the blackface the problem is that he thinks as a doctor it is ok to snip the spine of a baby that has been born
