Frying Pan Tower flag fondly named 'Kevin', up for auction
OUTER BANKS, N.C. (WAVY) - The American flag that gained a national following as it flapped furiously in Hurricane Florence's winds is going up for auction.
Thousands watched a live feed from the privately owned Frying Pan Tower off the coast of Cape Fear, North Carolina, Thursday as it documented the storm's approach.
The flag was no match for Florence, which left it ripped and tattered. The tower itself survived the hurricane's force, but the flag took a beating.
During a live chat Friday on the Frying Pan Tower Facebook page, owner Richard Neal said the flag would be returned to shore "respectfully and honorably" as soon as they could get back out to the tower to retrieve it. The plan is to then hand it over to the American Red Cross for them to auction and use the proceeds towards people in need.

Clinton Spreads ‘Four Pinocchio,’ ‘False’ Claim About Kavanaugh
Former Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton repeated a claim about Brett Kavanaugh that multiple fact-checkers have ruled is false.
A ThinkProgress writer first claimed on Twitter that during his Supreme Court confirmation hearing, Kavanaugh "seems to refer to birth control as ‘abortion-inducing drugs.'" That claim was picked up by Democratic Sen. Kamala Harris (Calif.), who shared an edited video of the interaction on Twitter and claimed that "this is a dog whistle for going after birth control."
But that claim was ruled "False" by PolitiFact, who pointed out that in context, Kavanauagh was clearly just summarizing the position of a litigant who appeared before him in the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals.

Revealed: Honor student, 17, smiled and laughed before fatally stabbing 'love rival' classmate, 16, over a boy
The 17-year-old Detroit-area girl accused of killing a classmate in school was laughing as she chased the victim and stabbed her in the chest and back, authorities said Friday as they filed a first-degree murder charge.
Tanaya Lewis was arraigned in Warren District Court, two days after 16-year-old Danyna Gibson was stabbed with a steak knife in a classroom at Fitzgerald High School. Police said there was animosity between the straight-A students over a boy.
The case is 'very unfortunate, all the way around,' defense attorney Mark Brown said after the hearing.
Lewis appeared in court via video from jail and was denied bond. Her parents watched from the courtroom gallery.

Manafort Deal Looks Like Good News for Trump, Terrible News for Democrats
According to NPR, Paul Manafort’s deal with Special Counsel Robert Muller’s office “does not include matters involving the Trump campaign.”
Something rarely brought up by our utterly useless but still corrupt establishment media is that in order for someone to “flip,” that someone has to have the goods on someone else. In other words, if you want to deal your way out of prison time, you have to have something to deal with; you actually have to serve someone’s head up on a platter.
Nevertheless, all throughout the Russian Collusion Hoax, and every time someone agrees to “cooperate” with Mueller, the media squeal like the 14-year-old girls they all are and then intentionally mislead the public by matter-of-factly saying, “This is bad news for Trump.”
Well, no, actually it is not...

There's no excuse for the police shooting of Botham Jean; a bit of weed in his apartment doesn't change that
Botham Jean was shot dead, unarmed and in his own apartment, by a Dallas police officer who said that she was confused and mistook the apartment for her own and Jean for an intruder.
That officer, Amber Guyger, has since been arrested and charged with manslaughter. Later, while executing a search warrant of the apartment, a small amount of marijuana was found in an unspecified location along with the expected bullet casings, police bag and other items from the shooting.
Although the initial tweet on the story seems to link the marijuana to Jean (“DEVELOPING Search warrant: Marijuana found in Botham Jean’s apartment after deadly shooting") the search warrant itself does not.

METEOROLOGIST FACT CHECKS BILL NYE ON WHETHER CLIMATE CHANGE HAS LED TO MORE NATURAL DISASTERS
Dr. Roy Spencer, a meteorologist, appeared on “Tucker Carlson Tonight” to discuss his beliefs on natural disasters and whether or not global warming has an impact on their frequency.
“Why do people like the Washington Post say such stupid things? It’s because the people that are informing us in the media about global warming are people like Al Gore, Bill Nye ‘The Science Guy,’ Neil deGrasse Tyson — people that don’t know anything about atmospheric science. You just have to look at history,” Dr. Spencer stated.

Rep. Yoder’s India Lobby Offers $$$ to Jump Line for Green Cards
A group of Indian visa-workers is offering to pay the federal government $1,500 per family to jump the line for green cards, according to a friendly report by the McClatchy news bureau.
The proposed trade would send just $1,500 from each Indian family to the federal treasury in exchange for a fast-track to the hugely valuable prize of citizenship for at least 100,000 outsourcing-workers and their family members.
That small payment would save the Indians from paying lawyers’ fees, allow them to compete directly against American professionals for jobs, and allow them to quickly begin the chain-migration process for their many parents and siblings. The money could be used to fund the Federal Emergency Management Agency, say the advocates, who are also hoping their proposal will be supported by their ally, Kansas GOP Rep. Kevin Yoder.

NJ middle school teacher’s 9/11 lesson urges sympathy for ‘Osama’
Parents in Vernon, New Jersey are outraged over a local middle school teacher’s lesson on September 11, which skipped over the world’s worst terrorist attack and instead focused on the plight of an imaginary Muslim boy named Osama.
Ed O’Rourke, a former U.S. Marine, and his wife, Jodi, told the New Jersey Herald that their daughter’s sixth grade teacher at Glen Meadow Middle School assigned a story titled “My Name is Osama” for students to read on September 11, which his daughter described over dinner.
The Herald reports:

The Herald reports:
The story … tells a made-up account of an Iraqi immigrant boy named Osama who faces taunts of “terrorist” in school by several students who tell him his mother, who wears a hijab, has “a bag on her head.” After pushing back against his tormenters, the boy is suspended from school for fighting.More
The story included no mention of the ideology behind those who carried out the 9/11 attacks, which O’Rourke said should have been a part of the class discussion as well.

The Alarming Findings of a New Study on Transgender Teens and Suicide
One in every two transgender adolescents who are born female but identify as male has attempted suicide in the past year, according to a new study.
The study, “Transgender Adolescent Suicide Behavior,” was published in Pediatrics, the official peer-reviewed journal of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
It raises serious questions about how families, schools, doctors, government, and the media should grapple with the increasing number of children and teens who self-identify as transgender.
In addition to the alarmingly high rate of suicide attempts among transgender boys, the study reported an attempted-suicide rate of over 40 percent for adolescents who identify as gender nonconforming (neither exclusively male or female) and nearly 30 percent for transgender girls (children and teens who were born male but identify as female).

Alan Dershowitz: Trump is not an unindicted co-conspirator
During Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation hearings, Sen. Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn., questioned the legitimacy of the judge’s appointment to the Supreme Court. Blumenthal said in his opening remarks: “The president of the United States who has nominated you is an unindicted co-conspirator.” Sen. Cory Booker, D-N.J., has also characterized Trump as “an unindicted co-conspirator.”
Following Michael Cohen’s guilty plea to eight criminal counts, pundits across the political spectrum claimed that, since Trump’s personal lawyer stated in his allocution that he paid hush money “at the direction of a candidate for federal office,” the president is now an unindicted co-conspirator.
On Fox News, Jonathan Turley, a law professor at George Washington University, stated that “If the [prosecutors] believe that what’s in this indictment was true, and that he was directed to make this payment ... then the president just became an unindicted co-conspirator.”

Evidence of Crimes Irrelevant to Impeaching Trump, a Texas Democrat Insists
High crimes and misdemeanors are irrelevant to whether President Donald Trump should be impeached by the House, despite the Constitution, a Texas lawmaker said.
“The people who say, ‘What law did he break? What rule did he break?,’ they are perpetrating upon you a belief that is totally inaccurate,” Rep. Al Green, D-Texas, said Thursday at a yearly meeting of the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation in Washington.
“You decide that you are not going to be nice to suspects when you arrest them, you tell police, ‘You don’t have to be nice,’ … and ban children on the border of color, you produce a policy that separates them from their parents,” Green said.

Pelosi renews Obama's 'war on coal,' backs group looking to shut down coal plants
House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., is renewing President Barack Obama's so-called “war on coal” by backing a radical initiative to shut down more than a third of U.S. coal plants by 2020 -- a line of attack that spectacularly backfired for Hillary Clinton in 2016.
“Under President Obama, we went on to pass the Waxman-Markey American Clean Energy and Security Act in the House. But we were stopped in the Senate by the coal industry,” Pelosi said in remarks Thursday to the Global Climate Action Summit in California, according to a video obtained by the NTK Network -- an outlet backed by the right-wing America Rising PAC.
“For this and other reasons, I’m so grateful to [Former New York City Mayor] Michael Bloomberg’s ‘Beyond Coal’ initiative working with the Sierra Club. It is so essential.”
The "Beyond Coal" website describes coal as “an outdated, backward, and dirty 19th-century technology.”

Governor Larry Hogan Authorizes Deployment of Maryland Helicopter Aquatic Rescue Team to Assist Rescue Efforts in North Carolina
Maryland to Open Shelters for Hurricane Florence Evacuees
ANNAPOLIS, MD – Governor Larry Hogan has authorized deployment of the Maryland Helicopter Aquatic Rescue Team (MD-HART) to North Carolina as a measure to assist in rescue efforts from flooding due to Hurricane Florence. Additionally, the governor announced that Maryland will open two shelters for those seeking a safe place to wait out the storm, including potential evacuees coming from states further south.
The MD-HART team consists of two UH-60 Blackhawk helicopters with eight crew members and three maintainers from the Maryland Army National Guard, and helicopter search and rescue technicians from Baltimore, Harford, Howard, and Montgomery Counties. The team will depart on Sunday to assist with the recovery effort. The Maryland Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) continues to coordinate Maryland’s response and support to affected states through the Emergency Management Assistance Compact.
"As coastal states feel the impact of Hurricane Florence, we are working to ensure that any travelers, evacuees, or Maryland residents seeking shelter have a safe place to stay during the storm, and we also stand ready to assist other states,” said Governor Hogan. “This elite team is an excellent example of our state and counties working together to provide support to those in need, and we are proud to have the capability to send the MD-HART to North Carolina.”
Clarence Thomas mocks Cory Booker's 'Spartacus' claim, says theatrics hurt process
Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas poked Sen. Cory Booker over the New Jersey Democrat's much-mocked invocation of "Spartacus" during last week's confirmation hearings for Brett Kavanaugh.
Booker was roundly ridiculed after threatening to defy the Senate rules and release what he thought were confidential documents concerning Kavanaugh’s past, “This is about the closest I’ll probably ever have in my life to an ‘I am Spartacus’ moment,” said Booker.
Thomas, who called his own contentious confirmation hearing back in 1991 a "high-tech lynching," took a jab at Booker during a conversation with the Federalist Society that aired Wednesday on C-SPAN.

CAIR in the Classroom
A Hamas-linked group partners with public schools
In 1993, Ibrahim Hooper, director of strategic communications for the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), said that, “I wouldn’t want to create the impression that I wouldn’t like the government of the United States to be Islamic sometime in the future. But I’m not going to do anything violent to promote that. I’m going to do it through education.” Twenty-five years later, CAIR could be making headway on that goal, through its relationships with US public school districts in at least three states.
CAIR — an Islamist group and United Arab Emirates-designated terrorist organization that bills itself as a defender of civil rights — has achieved special concessions for Muslim students and launched the inappropriate insertion of religion into publicly-funded education. Meanwhile, push back from parents and outside organizations is building.
Seattle Public Schools’ partnership with CAIR’s Washington chapter is the latest incident to cause controversy, but the relationship dates back to at least 2011, when CAIR-WA sent the district a letter proposing accommodations for Muslim students and classroom lessons on Islam. Then as now, CAIR-WA claimed to be fighting “anti-Muslim bullying.” To that end, in 2012 and 2013 the organization contacted the school district to complain about “Islamophobia” among teachers.
That approach eventually paid off. In a Ramadan crowd-funding campaign in May of this year, the CAIR-WA chapter outlined its plan “to provide educational training for teachers and staff on things like Ramadan, Eid, and how educators can support Muslim students in the classroom.” Accordingly, that same month, CAIR-WA ran a “professional development session” in a Seattle high school that “addressed providing identity-safe spaces in schools for Muslim families” and “how to support students during Ramadan."

U of Maryland Hosts ‘White Awake’ Support Group for White Students
The University of Maryland at College Park announced on Friday that they will be offering a support group called “White Awake” for white students who need help to talk about living in an increasingly diverse country.
The University of Maryland support group, which was first reported on by Campus Reform, seeks to help white students better understand how they should carry themselves in our increasingly diverse country.
“This group offers a safe space for White students to explore their experiences, questions, reactions, and feelings,” the description for the event reads. “Members will support and share feedback with each other as they learn more about themselves and how they can fit into a diverse world.”
The announcement of the project sparked a backlash on campus. Some minority students argued that white students should not have to be “taught” how to interact with students of other races. “Why do they need to attend therapy sessions on how to be a decent human being in society?” one student tweeted.

50-year streak of Redskins selling out home games could end Sunday
WASHINGTON (ABC7) — The Washington Redskins boast that every home game for the past 50 years has been sold out.
According to the team, there wasn't a free seat to be had at any of the 210 preseason, regular or postseason home games since 1967, no matter how bad the team was. (And there have been plenty of downright bad Washington Redskins seasons over the past five decades.)
But could 2018 mark the end of the sellout era?

'Last Man Standing' star Tim Allen talks personal politics affecting the show, whether he's a Trump supporter
As Tim Allen gears up to debut “Last Man Standing” Season 7 on a new network, questions about his personal politics have come front and center. In a recent interview, after months of vague political questions, the star clarified his stance on President Trump.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Allen was asked point-blank about his political views after previously saying that his conservative values were the reason for public criticism of him as well as ABC’s decision to cancel “Last Man Standing” despite high ratings.
“Politically I’m kind of an anarchist if you see my stand-up. I’m for responsible government that actually does what we pay them to do,” the 65-year-old star said. “I’ve worked different jobs and I’ve had a colorful past and I pay a lot in taxes. I wish we got more for our money. Whatever political party is for more responsible use of our money — that’s all I meant.”

Baltimore Must Pay Pregnancy Center $1.1 Million After Trying to Force It to Promote Abortions
One of the very rarely talked about after-effects of pro-life organizations going to court to protect their rights is that even when they win, they typically still have accrued a mountain of legal bills.
That is why a vote Wednesday by the Baltimore Board of Estimates “to pay $1.1 million to cover the legal fees of the Greater Baltimore Center for Pregnancy Concerns,” as Talia Richman of the Baltimore Sun reported, is so important.
Pro-lifers who read NRL News Today are aware of the favorable outcome in June in the case of NIFLA v. Becerra. The suit, brought by the National Institute of Family and Life Advocates, challenged a California law requiring licensed pregnancy resource centers to disclose where women could receive free or low-cost abortions, and requiring unlicensed centers to insert state-dictated material in their advertising, thus violating the First Amendment rights of all pregnancy resource centers in the state.
In a 5-4 ruling, the Supreme Court agreed that the so-called Reproductive Freedom, Accountability, Comprehensive Care, and Transparency Act (FACT Act) was, in the words of now retired Justice Anthony Kennedy in his concurrence, “a paradigmatic example of the serious threat presented when government seeks to impose its own message in the place of individual speech, thought, and expression.”

Dem Candidate Received State Tax Credits While Living in South Africa
Democratic congressional candidate Scott Wallace's taxes suggest he was out of the country for more than two years while receiving tax credits in Maryland that require residency in the state for at least six months out of the year.
Wallace, a wealthy progressive philanthropist, is challenging first-term Republican Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick in Pennsylvania's 1st Congressional District. Before moving back to the district to run for office, Wallace spent time in Maryland and South Africa running the Wallace Global Fund, his family's foundation, which has given millions to radical left-wing groups.
Wallace was hit with a $70,000 tax lien in Maryland, which the Congressional Leadership Fund, a group backed by House Majority Leader Paul Ryan (R., Wis.), has hammered the Democrat for. Wallace countered the group by releasing an advertisement and his campaign said that he had paid his taxes in full upon seeing his bills.

McCaskill: ‘I Don’t Have to Answer’ Kavanaugh Question
Missouri senator Claire McCaskill (D.) dismissed a voter's question on whether she will vote to confirm Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court.
McCaskill was asked during a Monday event with students at Truman State University what she would do if she "had to vote right now" on Kavanaugh's nomination. But she quickly sidestepped the question, saying, "Since I don't have to, I don't have to answer that question."
"You're not going to get me to answer that question today," McCaskill continued.

AD AGENCY DARKENS SKIN OF STUDENTS IN SCHOOL PHOTO TO PROMOTE ‘DIVERSITY’
Students in Lyon, France posing for a school photograph had their skin artificially darkened by an ad agency in order to promote “diversity” in the United States.
Planning to establish a branch in the U.S., the Emile-Cohl school posted an image of the smiling freshmen students to Twitter.
However, the students themselves drew attention to the fact that darker skin had been photshopped onto some of their faces, in a few cases making them look like completely different people.

98 percent of families who illegally entered the US in 2017 are still here
Newly released government data shows 98 percent of families who were apprehended after illegally entering the United States from Mexico in fiscal year 2017 were never deported and remain in the country.
In that fiscal year, which ended Sept. 30, 2017, 94,285 people unlawfully crossed the southwest border from Mexico and claimed to be a "family unit" from El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras, according to Department of Homeland Security information shared with the Washington Examiner.
Of that group, around 1,500 people have been removed from the country, or about 1.5 percent of the total.
