An African migrant is in custody, suspected of throwing a German girl off a cliff in Italy after possibly attempting to rape her, authorities say.
Law student Alena Sudakova, 21, was on holiday in Italy when she was discovered badly injured after a fall of approximately 230 feet from a cliff near the coastal town of Sanremo, according to reports, in an incident that occurred at the end of July but has received little media coverage until recently.
A 32-year-old North African man identified as Zied Yakoubi was also discovered at the scene, having reportedly fallen some distance himself, and was taken into custody under suspicion of attempted murder and attempted rape, investigator Barbara Bresci has confirmed.

Comptroller FED Agents Arrest NY Man in Eastern Shore Cigarette Stop
Field Enforcement Division agents seize 2,800 packs and vehicle
ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Comptroller Peter Franchot has announced that agents from his Field Enforcement Division (FED) have arrested a New York man who has been charged in Maryland as a result of a surveillance operation on Virginia’s Eastern Shore.
“My FED agents’ vigilance protects Maryland businesses and taxpayers from those who try to cheat the system with their illegal activities in transporting tobacco products through our state,” Comptroller Peter Franchot said. “I am very proud of their dedicated service and steadfast ability to identify these criminals.”
During the surveillance operation on Thursday, August 23, Nasser Manssour, 55, of Brooklyn, NY, driving a 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe SUV with New Jersey tags, was observed concealing cigarettes in the rear of the vehicle at a discount cigarette retail store on the Lower Shore area of Virginia. Agents said he then drove north on U.S. Route 13 into Maryland and was stopped at U.S. Route 13 and Sheep House Road in Pocomoke, Worcester County.
Agents searched the vehicle and found 2,820 packs of contraband cigarettes, with a value of $18,189 and representing a tax loss to the State of $5,640. The contraband cigarettes and vehicle were seized and Manssour was placed under arrest.
Manssour was taken before a Worcester County District Court Commissioner in Snow Hill and charged with a felony count of transporting contraband cigarettes and a misdemeanor count of possession of contraband cigarettes.
A preliminary hearing has been set for September 14 at Worcester County District Court. Manssour was released on his own recognizance.

What’s Going On In South Africa And Why Is Trump Tweeting About It?
President Donald Trump dove into South Africa’s thorny racial politics Wednesday night, announcing on Twitter that he ordered his top diplomat to look into attacks on white farmers and Pretoria’s plans for land redistribution.
“I have asked Secretary of State [Pompeo] to closely study the South Africa land and farm seizures and expropriations and the large scale killing of farmers,” Trump wrote.
“South African Government is now seizing land from white farmers,” he added, tagging Fox News host Tucker Carlson.
Trump sent his surprise tweet following an airing of Carlson’s show, which featured a segment on South Africa’s impending plan to seize land from white landowners and redistribute it to poor black farmers.

South Africa's Julius Malema: Trump's Right, We're Coming for White Farmers
Radical South African politician Julius Malema confirmed President Donald Trump’s concerns Thursday, declaring defiantly that the point of the country’s proposed new “expropriation without compensation” policy would be to take land from white farmers.
“Through land expropriation, we are forcing white people to share the land which was gained through a crime against the humanity of black and African people,” Malema said in a press conference, referring to the racist land policies of colonialism and apartheid.
On Wednesday evening, President Donald Trump’s tweeted that he had directedSecretary of State Mike Pompeo “to closely study the South Africa land and farm seizures and expropriations and the large scale killing of farmers.”
He appeared to be reacting to a segment on Tucker Carlson’s show on Fox News that evening, during which Carlson highlighted a State Department statement on South Africa’s proposed land reforms that seemed to defend the South African government’s approach and downplay criticisms.

A Judge Stopped Trump’s Efforts To Get Control Of The Federal Workforce
A federal judge in Washington, D.C., struck down core provisions of three executive orders President Donald Trump issued to curb union power in the federal workforce late Friday.
U.S. District Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson, an Obama appointee, found that the orders violate the First Amendment, the separation of powers and the Federal Service Labor-Management Relations Act (FSLMRS) in a sprawling, 122-page decision.
Trump issued the trio of orders on May 25. Among other provisions, the directives restrict the amount of time federal workers may spend on official union duties, reduce performance-improvement periods for ineffective employees and narrow the range of issues that agencies and unions negotiate over when setting contracts.
“These executive orders make it easier for agencies to remove poor-performing employees and ensure that taxpayer dollars are more efficiently used,” White House Domestic Policy Council Director Andrew Bremberg said.

Dem Rep Green: Trump Doesn't Need to Commit a Crime to Be Impeached — 218 House Members Decide
Thursday on “Democracy Now,” Rep. Al Green (D-TX) said President Donald Trump could be impeached without having committed a crime.
Green said, “This is a very sad time in the history of our country. This is not something that I enjoy talking about, nor is it something that I would like to do. But I think it’s becoming increasingly clear that the president will have two options: One, he can resign from office, or, two, he can face impeachment. Impeachment is something that the Framers of the Constitution provided for a time such as this and a president such as Trump. The president does not have to commit a crime to be impeached. In fact, the president is not likely to be indicted, which means he’s not likely to be found guilty of a crime while he’s sitting, which means that if this comes before the House, it won’t come before the House as a president who has been found guilty, but rather as a president who is alleged to have committed certain offenses that are onerous to the Constitution and that harm society. And what this president is doing is harming society.”

2 of America's Airlines are Increasing Fees
The last couple of years have not been kind to JetBlue Airways(NASDAQ: JBLU)and Alaska Air Group(NYSE: ALK). Rising fuel prices have pinched profitability across the U.S. airline industry, but due to competitive dynamics and other factors, JetBlue and Alaska have had more trouble offsetting these cost headwinds than some other carriers.
Both airlines have tried to get profitability back on track through a combination of cost discipline and tactical capacity adjustments. However, it hasn't been enough. As a result, JetBlue and Alaska have both decided to increase various fees to boost their ancillary revenue and counter the weak fare environment.

Socialist NY Senate candidate challenged over claims of being an immigrant, Jewish
A Democratic Socialist candidate for New York Senate faces questions after reports emerged that she falsified her biography, including claims about being an immigrant and Jewish, while her previous work shows she was a Christian conservative advocate.
Julia Salazar, a progressive Democrat affiliated with the Democratic Socialists of America, has been touted as the next Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a young and hip socialist who would move the party further to the left. She also received an endorsement from the New York governor candidate Cynthia Nixon.
But Salazar came under fire last week after an expose in Tablet magazine, which examined Salazar’s claims about her biography.
The candidate for state office previously told multiple outlets that she’s an immigrant from Colombia and noted that her family immigrated to the U.S. when she was young. Her father, she said, was Jewish but the family had little contact with the American Jewish community after they arrived to the country.
“I immigrated to this country with my family when I was very little. In Colombia, my mom raised me as a single mother,” she also said during one of her events on the campaign trail.

South Africans Say Trump is Right: White Farmers Being Slaughtered
Residents of South Africa are creating videos backing up US President Donald Trump’s claims that white farmers in South Africa are being murdered.
In riveting firsthand testimony uploaded to Twitter Monday, several South Africans pushed back against the mainstream media, testifying violence against whites is on the rise.
Danie Barnard, 32, a South African citizen, on Monday thanked President Trump for bringing attention to the issue and said he faces constant violence in the region.
“As you all may know, President Trump last week Wednesday made a tweet about what is going on in South Africa and there was a lot of backlash from the fake news mainstream media, especially in the United States,” Barnard said, going on to say his grandfather was murdered on his farm.
“As a South African boer I can tell you guys that it is 100% correct what Mr. Trump said in his tweet.”
“We do not try to spread any false information, nor are we right wing extremists, or Nazis as they are calling us. We are only citizens that are fearing for our lives because we live in a very violent society in South Africa. And it is true. It’s not only the white South Africans but also the black South Africans, but the big difference here is our government actually encourages violence towards whites and endorses it…”

Hogan Administration Awards More Than $3.2 Million in Strategic Demolition Funding
Announcement Made at Groundbreaking for Indian Head Velocity Center
ANNAPOLIS, MD - Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development Secretary Kenneth C. Holt today announced Strategic Demolition Fund awards for Fiscal Year 2019 at the groundbreaking ceremony for the Velocity Center, a planned technology hub in Indian Head, Maryland. During his remarks, the Secretary announced $3,285,000 in awards for 13 projects in nine counties.
The Strategic Demolition Fund supports site acquisition and demolition of derelict buildings and redevelopment to spur economic and community revitalization. The department had received 30 applications requesting nearly $10 million in funding. Funding for demolitions in Baltimore City is provided through the Hogan administration's Project C.O.R.E. initiative, which has provided $33 million to support demolition projects in the city to date.
“This program and these grant awards exemplify our administration’s dedication to improving our communities,” said Governor Larry Hogan. “We are committed to providing opportunities for neighborhoods across the state to rehabilitate or demolish blighted structures, in order to help them revitalize and flourish for years to come.”
"Removing older, unused properties to create the necessary space for neighborhood revitalization can often be a challenge for some communities," said Secretary Holt. "The Strategic Demolition Fund assists with this critical need, providing a clean slate for positive redevelopment."
Joined by Maryland Department of Commerce Secretary Mike Gill, Secretary Holt announced a $550,000 Strategic Demolition Fund award to the Charles County Chamber of Commerce Military Alliance Council for the demolition of the former Ely’s supermarket building to make way for the new Velocity Center. A partnership between the College of Southern Maryland, the Naval Surface War Center, and private investors, the Velocity Center will include a research center, technology incubator and education facility. The 20,000 square foot facility will contain features such as a cybersecurity laboratory and space for the university’s robotics team.
“The state’s support for the CSM Velocity Center helps to advance Indian Head’s progress toward becoming a center of world-class energetics and technology,” said Secretary Gill. “It’s another example of how Commerce, DHCD, and other state agencies have worked together to help the town grow and evolve. We’re very pleased to see this project move forward.”

A Pennsylvania mother is facing homicide charges after she gave her 17-month-old daughter a drink containing fentanyl in a sippy cup, police said.
Authorities arrested Jhenea Pratt, 23, on Friday and charged her with one count of homicide and one count of endangering the welfare of a child when her daughter, Charlette Napper-Talley, died after drinking the tainted beverage out of her sippy cup, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported.
Police found the 17-month-old girl not breathing in Pratt’s Pittsburgh apartment in April, and discovered a pink sippy cup with red liquid on the toddler’s bed.

South Africa Civil War Looms As White Farmers, 'Black Hitler' "Willing To Die" Over Property Confiscation
As South African President Ramaphosa's 'land reform' plans begin to confiscate white farmer-owned lands with no compensation, the rhetoric on both sides of the policy are beginning to signal little hope of avoiding direct inter-racial conflict, or another civil war.
Ramaphosa insists:
“This is no land grab. Nor is it an assault on the private ownership of property... Land reform in South Africa is amoral, social and economic imperative.
“By bringing more land into productive use, by giving more South Africans assets and opportunities, the country is creating conditions for greater, more inclusive and more meaningful growth”
But a number of black South Africans appear to see things a little differently to their president: “Let us kill the white man, the white man must die”

Report: ESPN Paying Jemele Hill Up to $6 Million to Leave
News traveled quickly on Saturday night, that controversial writer and host Jemele Hill had reached an agreement on a contract buyout with ESPN. However, the details of that buyout were not known at the time.
Now, reported details of that buyout are beginning to emerge and it appears that ESPN was willing to pay an awful lot of money to end their relationship with Hill.
According to Real Clear Life:
Following a conversation she requested with network president Jimmy Pitaro, ESPN and Hill reached an “amicable” split and she will be bought out of her $2.5 million contract.
The contract reportedly has at least two years remaining on it so Hill will likely walk away with a package in the seven figures as a result of the agreement.

The Deep State State vs. The American People
On Tuesday, November 8, 2016 Donald J. Trump, in the largest upset in modern American political history, was elected the 45th President of the United States of America. And every day since then, his administration has been clouded by the wholly-created “scandal” of the “Russian collusion” investigation being conducted by Special Prosecutor Robert Mueller appointed by Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein.
Unequal “Justice”
James Comey, the former Director of the FBI, whose firing by Mr. Trump launched this charade, testified before Congress regarding the hundreds of thousands of Hillary Clinton’s emails found on the Anthony Weiner/Huma Abedin personal laptop computer one month before the 2016 election. His sworn testimony included this jewel;
“I kind of just put it out of my mind,” he said, because he claimed it did not “index” with him that Abedin was loosely connected to Clinton. “I don’t know that I knew that [Weiner] was married to Huma Abedin at the time."
Anyone paying any attention to what was going on politically in this country at this time knew that Huma Abedin was connected at the hip to Hillary Clinton and was also married to Mr. Weiner. And this is the director of the "world's premier investigative organization"? Talk about not passing the smell test!
It would seem that Mr. Comey is either a blatant liar, completely ignorant or both.

US Air Force tests ‘base in a box’
If the U.S. Air Force finds itself in a conflict with Russia, it won’t be able to simply rely on its major operating hubs in Germany, Italy and the United Kingdom. So it’s getting more expeditionary thanks to a new “air base in a box” that will enable the service to rapidly move to a partner nation’s airfield, set up a squadron and begin flying combat missions.
Defense News traveled to Poland’s 31st Air Base near Krzesiny this July for an exclusive look at the first-ever trial of the U.S. Air Force’s new deployable air base system, or DABS — a series of humble-looking shipping containers filled with everything needed to stand up air operations, including temporary billeting and mess facilities, vehicles, airfield repair resources, and power and electrical equipment.
"When we deploy forward, we have very generous hosts, but in a crisis, they’re going to need their capabilities for their priorities, their mission sets, and we’re going to fight jointly and operate jointly,” said Brig. Gen. Roy Agustin, U.S. Air Forces Europe’s director of logistics, engineering and force protection.

Meanwhile, Democrat leadership trying to distance from impeachment talks
President Trump “will be impeached” despite assurances from Democrat leadership they won’t seek impeachment, according to Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.).

Huckabee on Hypocrats, Voter ID: ‘Maybe Russians Can Just Show Up and Vote! No ID Required’
In a Monday morning tweet, former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee poked fun at Democrats for their stance on voter ID laws, saying, “Maybe Russians can just show up and vote! No ID required.”
“A satirical blog makes more sense than Dems on voter fraud,” Gov. Mike Huckabee said on his Twitter page. “Dems are fearful of Russian election meddling, but oppose voter ID. Maybe Russians can just show up and vote! No ID required. Russians welcome!”
Gov. Huckabee’s tweet stems from an Aug. 21, 2018 satirical Babylon Bee piece titled “Democrats Demand Vigilance Against Election Hacking Unless It Involves Voter ID Laws” that points to the hypocrisy of some Democratic policies concerning elections, national security.

Arizona Governor Must Pick A Republican to Fill McCain’s Seat
Replacement will serve through 2020
Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey will make the appointment that will fill the seat of Sen. John McCain, who died Saturday after a year-long battle with brain cancer.
Under state law the replacement must be of the same party as Mr. McCain, a Republican, according to election experts. That ensures the GOP will maintain control of the Senate — though given Mr. Ducey is a Republican as well, that was likely anyway.
Because the vacancy happened so late in the year, Mr. Ducey’s replacement will serve through the end of 2020, and the seat will next be on the ballot in November of that year. The winner would then serve out the final two years of the term Mr. McCain won in 2016 — his sixth.

Thiel Says Trump Is the Republican Who Isn't a ‘Zombie’
Peter Thiel is not ready to give up on defending President Donald Trump just yet.
The PayPal Holdings Inc. and Palantir Technologies Inc. co-founder praised Trump’s honesty, adding that unlike other Republican presidential hopefuls from the 2016 election, he isn’t a "zombie" and was the only candidate who addressed what Thiel considers politics’ biggest problem: political correctness.
"I got to meet a lot of people running for president on the U.S. Republican side in 2016 and they all felt like zombies," he said during a Monday event on entrepreneurship in Sao Paulo, Brazil. "They couldn’t say anything different other than programmed ideological soundbites." Trump, Thiel said, is "a very healthy corrective to that."
"I fully understand why people think of President Trump as a rude, mean person," Thiel said. "But I think that’s often better than telling beautiful lies about the way the country is working."

Federal Judge Extends Order Blocking 3-D Gun Blueprints From Internet
A federal judge in Washington State has extended a court order blocking a Texas-based company called Defense Distributed from posting designs for 3D-printed guns on the Internet.
U.S. District Judge Robert Lasnik previously issued a temporary restraining order at the end of July blocking the designs; now he has granted a preliminary injunction, which bars the designs from being posted online until a court case is resolved.
The Trump administration recently had decided to allow the release of the blueprints, in a settlement with Defense Distributed that the administration considered to be an international export matter. Multiple states sued to challenge that decision, arguing that the change affected domestic policy too, and that the federal government did not follow the proper process for such a decision.

NBC Poll Finds Trump Support at Near Record-High After Cohen, Manafort News
The latest Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll shows President Trump’s job approval rating at a near record high and unaffected by the news about Paul Manafort and Michael Cohen.
A poll taken by WSJ/NBC before the news broke about the conviction of Trump’s one time campaign chair Paul Manafort and the guilty plea from Trump’s former personal attorney Michael Cohen, had the president sitting with 46 percent approval and 51 percent disapproval.
These same pollsters went back to the well in the days immediately following the Manafort/Cohen news, those days where the media screamed “impeachment” hundreds of time, and found only statistical noise; no real shift against Trump: 44 percent approve/52 percent disapprove.
That is only a total move of three points, which is well within the poll’s margin of error.
In fact, that 46 percent approval number is a record high for Trump in this particular poll, which means that despite a media jihad that began last month with the fabricated controversy over separating illegal alien adults and children (something practiced by the Obama administration), the president is in superb shape.

IT’S OFFICIAL: ‘Morning Joe’ Is Dead
Collective fear stimulates herd instinct, and tends to produce ferocity toward those who are not regarded as members of the herd. — Bertrand Russell
Belonging is a drug and we are all addicted to it. When a “like” validates our social worth, or we ignore work to respond to our most recent email, we confirm our identity in a tribe. Our brains reward the recognition with a dopamine rush.
For years, I started my day with a dopamine hit at six a.m. from Morning Joe.
Actually, I got my fix a little later, recording the show, to feed my craving at a more civilized hour. The debate was fun and stimulating: This tribe was passionate, intelligent, and slightly mutinous. I, along with other beltway viewers, wanted to belong and be insiders, too. When Don Imus self-immolated and left Washington suffering a painful withdrawal, Scarborough Country, then Morning Joe, stepped up to provide a home.

A Viewer Writes: COMMENT ABOUT COUNTY / ALBERO DISMISSAL POST
The county is passing a new bill that will lead to more animals being mistreated at the HS because HS is the county designee. This is why I want people to pay attention to the county at this very moment. The county has ZERO power of oversight over HS but the bill will exempt the county or its designee from ALL liability after an animal is picked up. How is that good for people or animals? It is no different than congress exempting themselves from laws so they dont apply to them. The county is giving the HS a free pass with the bill to do what they do. This article barely scratches the surface of how bad the HS is here.
IS THIS REALLY TRUE JOE? IF SO DO YOU KNOW WHEN IT WAS SUPPOSE TO BE PASSED.
The Media’s Latest Scam: Trump’s Going to Be Impeached Because of the Michael Cohen Plea
One of the “it’s so horrible it’s funny” things about the Trump era has been all the “Wow! Pence better get ready because this time we’ve got him for sure” stories. Trump says something, a scandal breaks, the media reports that an anonymous person who may or may not exist has revealed a shocking crime and it’s supposed to be all over! Yet, like Jason from the Friday the 13th series, Trump shrugs off the media’s ax to the forehead or Democrats’ shotgun blast to the chest like it’s nothing and he’s back doing what he does five minutes later while they pull their hair out.
The latest story of this sort is Trump’s lawyer Michael Cohen pleading guilty to a number of crimes, all of them unrelated to Trump except for a campaign finance violation. Cohen paid off the porn stars Trump slept with and Trump paid him back.
First of all, is this a campaign finance violation at all? That is arguable because campaign finance laws, beyond the basics, are a murky, byzantine mess that only highly specialized lawyers can navigate and even they only get definitive answers when a judge rules.
Trump’s argument will probably be something akin to, “My personal lawyer, Michael Cohen, paid off those women I slept with and I reimbursed him. No campaign funds were used. Michael Cohen told me it was legally fine and I did it because I didn’t want to cause any embarrassment to my family.” Is this true? We can’t know for sure at this point, but it certainly seems to be an extremely plausible argument. That is doubly so because Trump has a history of setting up nondisclosure agreements and paying out what could be considered “hush money.”

Chinese State Media to U.S.: ‘Suppress’ Taiwan’s President or Face ‘Nightmare’
China’s state-run Global Times newspaper published an outraged column Thursday condemning the State Department’s disappointed reaction to El Salvador severing ties with Taiwan in favor of China, warning that a “nightmare reality” could befall the United States if it ever recognized Taiwan.
El Salvador, which had long recognized Taiwan’s sovereignty, announced this week that it would no longer do so, instead establishing formal relations with China.
“We are convinced this is a step in the right direction that corresponds to the principles of international law of international relations and the inevitable trends of our time,” President Salvador Sanchez Ceren said in a televised address Tuesday announcing the change.
China rejects any invitation to formal ties with a country that recognizes Taiwan as a sovereign nation, a policy known as the “One China” principle.

The defendants are from numerous countries, including Mexico, the Dominican Republic, Nigeria and Germany.
Some of them were charged in an indictment handed down by a federal grand jury in Wilmington, N.C. They were accused of filing a false claim of citizenship in order to register, and then voting.
Others were charged separately for illegally voting.
The announcement comes amid an intense debate at the state level over voter fraud and efforts by Republican lawmakers to impose new voter ID restrictions.
