A Viewer Writes: Update

http://sbynews.blogspot.com/2017/04/maryland-women-charged-with-hate-crime.html

Came across this article you posted last year and got curious of the outcome.

Joy Shuford had 13 various charges against her. The Disposition is listed as Nolle Porosequi for 12 of those Her plea on the 13th one for Malicious Burning/2nd deg was listed as Guilty and the Disposition is listed as Guilty and her jail term was for 10 days.

Dasia Perry had 14 charges against her. The disposition on all 14 is listed as Nolle Prosequi.

In September of 2017 she had 5 charges against her 3 for assault and 2 for theft. 3 charges were dismissed and she got STET on one assault charge and one theft charge.

In April of 2018 she was again charged with theft. This time her plea was Guilty. They gave her PBJ - Supervised.

In July of 2018 a Bench Warrant was issued for Failure to Appear.

Isn't the justice system great? How many times do they have to keep letting them go?

  1. Non violent against a person. I always question as why a judge would release them on a personal recon when they were brought back on a failure to appear. Let them be stacked 3 high on a cot. I really don't care about over crowding. Do the crime, do the time. Love me some sheriff Joe from Arizona. ( back in his day )

  2. The jails are over crowded, maybe the answer is heavy fines or public service like picking up trash along the roads and then if they screw that up jail time.

  3. The system is even BETTER now, thanks to the Justice Reinvestment Act (yes, I am being sarcastic). That absolute piece of garbage legislation needs to go-look into the crap that people get away with now, If you were frustrated before, you will pull your hair out on this one!

  4. The judicial system is insane anymore. People with so many DUIs and nothing. People with STET and light pleas. Family court is no better. Then again I wouldn’t want to be the judge in some of these repeat bogus things and the political spiderweb they’re in

  7. Keep the prison population low and Maryland can keep costs for prisons and staffing low in order to save money.
