With attempts to attack Judge Brett M. Kavanaugh’s record failing, Democrats over the weekend mounted a last-ditch bid to derail his confirmation to the Supreme Court by claiming that the vetting process is so bad that it demands a do-over.
Senate Minority Leader Charles E. Schumer, New York Democrat, even accused former President George W. Bush of complicity, saying he used his powers to block access to tens of thousands of pages of records from Judge Kavanaugh’s time in the Bush White House.
Sen. Lindsey Graham, South Carolina Republican, said as long as Judge Kavanaugh doesn’t bungle the hearings, he will be confirmed with some Democrats joining Republicans.
Democrats seemed to realize they are fighting a losing battle after attacks on the judge’s personal finances and his activities while in the Bush White House fell short.
Sen. Amy Klobuchar, Minnesota Democrat, expressed remorse that her party eviscerated the power of the filibuster five years ago, leaving them no path to stop Judge Kavanaugh, barring Republican defections.
Ms. Klobuchar, who voted with fellow Democrats in 2013 to trigger the “nuclear option” and curtail the filibuster, said she would support reverting to the 60-vote rule should her party regain the Senate.

I am fed up and sick to death of demoncrats. Spoiled ass brats acting like children. Each one of them needs to be recalled and some adults serving in gov't. They have no message, no solutions, no ideas, no shame. To everything to them is just bad but they have no suggestions for anything good. Every one of them needs a trip to the woodshed and then some of them need a trip to jail. Disgusting.
ReplyDeleteAnd it is fun to watch.
ReplyDeleteTotal BS. The Democrats, her included, will never vote to rescind their power, while IN CONTROL of the Senate. That's like expecting the Republicans to do it now. Ain't going to happen. Harry Reid used his power to get the Dems way when they controlled the Senate, but didn't have the votes to drown out the Republicans. All the Republicans knew the Dem fortunes would turn, and Republicans would be in power again, if for no other reasons, for stunts the dems did, like eliminating the filibuster and the 60 vote rule, passing Obamacare in the middle of the night against the wishes of the American people, and ignoring the Republican representatives of the American people. The Dems have no one to blame, except themselves. The only way to fix it, is the party in power has to change it back. But the party in power will never vote to take any power away from themselves. It's a conundrum.
