Demand For Concealed Carry Permits Is Skyrocketing

The number of concealed carry weapons (CCW) permits is soaring to new levels despite the rabid anti-gun activism following a slew of school shootings over the past year.

Issued CCW permits increased approximately 275 percent over a ten-year period, from 4.6 million permits in 2007 to over 17.25 permits in 2018, according to a study released Friday by the Crime Prevention Research Center (CPRC). The number has been increasing year over year and is forecast to continue trending upwards.

The most notable demographic increase was found to be among women and minorities. During the aforementioned time period, CCW issuance jumped 111 percent faster for women than for men. Moreover, compared to white individuals, permits for Asian and black individuals spiked 29 percent and 20 percent quicker, respectively.

  1. Here in this country, "The Republic of Maryland", you can't get a permit to carry, you have to be a victim.

  2. Plenty of people have ccw permits here. Own a business or handle cash for someone that does is all it takes as long as you have a clean record. Stop being a complainer and do what you need to so you can qualify fora permit.

    1. They have to be renewed periodically. That's where they will catch you. Best to move out of that shithole state.

  6. More women applying for CCW? Good. If more women carried, or had a big dog, they would be a lot safer.

  7. Bull crap 6:59. As a retired LEO employed by the State of Maryland, a permit is required after my 32 years service .

As for carrying money or owning a business, I can't say. Just hope the process for them isn't as difficult it is for retired LEO's.

That's no bull, fact. Ask retiree's to confirm this if you think otherwise.

  8. 8:11, it was very hard for you as a retired cop?????? They say on the MD website that in order to even get a permit you have to be LEO or a retired one, that is just plain crazy that even a retired cop has a hard time getting one... That just shows you the system is broken on purpose... And it proves my point also, that while you work for them, or do their bidding, sometimes they will look out for you, but once your gone or fired or anything else, you are back to regular citizen status and you get what the rest of us get on a daily basis...

  9. I'm thinking about asking the government for permission to exercise my right to bear arms.
    Great idea!

  10. I'm in my eighties so I am vulnerable to an easy attack, does anyone have a suggestion for a real good method of personal protection that doesn't require a permit.

  12. 9:11.... you asked a question, so here is the answer I will give. I do have a permit and I would carry if I didn't have a permit. If I were in your shoes I would carry, that is if you would like to. If not anything you desire do it. Don't wait until after the fact (hopefully there won't be a after the that). The low life that you ask protection from will have what ever they want. Please protect yourself sir or lady. I also keep wasp spray handy because I don't want to use my handgun. The spray is strong and comes out in a strong stream, not a weak fan. A pen or pencil to the eye is effective. Be safe.
