Rep. Harris Releases Statement in Support of Grant for Job Training in Maryland Rehab Facilities

WASHINGTON, DC: On July 24, the U.S. Department of Labor announced it will issue a $2 million grant for the implementation of job training programs in substance abuse rehabilitation facilities in Maryland. This grant is part of a broader $22 million effort to provide reemployment services for individuals affected by substance abuse disorder. Congressman Andy Harris, M.D. (MD-01) released the following statement in support of this grant:

“Finding work after undergoing substance abuse treatment is not always easy, but patients are more likely to stay healthy, happy, and sober when they are able to work and succeed economically. President Trump and Secretary Acosta’s decision to issue this grant for job training in rehab facilities will provide life changing opportunities for Marylanders in recovery. The programs funded by this grant will play a key role in preventing relapses and in fighting the opioid epidemic in Maryland.”
