Teacher’s Facebook rant over ‘rude parents and disruptive children’

A teacher has slammed her 'disruptive' students and their 'rude' parents over their lack of respect for her 'poorly paid' profession in a Facebook rant that's gone viral.

Julie Marburger, 45, a mother-of-eight who works at Cedar Creek Intermediate School in Texas, said she had been pushed to quit her role as she feels as though she has 'no way to do the job I was hired to do... teach kids.'

Along with her status, which has had 322,000 likes and more than 400,000 shares, she posted images of her messy classroom, showing broken shelves, books and even an iPad, explaining that many of the items destroyed by the children were paid for out of her own pocket as she has no budget.

  1. That's what public school has become. We will poorly babysit your children while you work to pay your taxes, and when they grow up be sure they will be stupider and more controllable than you.

  2. Interesting. So you're saying that teachers are dealing with all sorts of nonsense and are underpaid? Hmm...where have I heard that narrative before? And it is hard to disagree with this. Only the rude parents of disruptive children would be against paying teachers proper wages.

  3. 7:08 What do you consider proper wages to be? How much are you willing to pay extra in taxes to meet those wages? Before you answer remember property taxes make up the majority of funding for education and an increase in property tax will increase the cost of renting.

  4. "Only the rude parents of disruptive children would be against paying teachers proper wages. " Ok, that has to be the stupidest thing written today. I know exactly what you're saying. I see through you. You think that the well behaved children are good little enlightened liberals like yourself and the disruptive children are the hellspawn of ignorant inbred rednecks like me. That's exactly what you think. You also think the world would be a little bit better if there were a little more of you and less of me. Be careful, you are just inches away from being the person who advocates doing in people like me and my children for the good of sociecty. You do not think you are evil, but we see through you.

  5. Stupid teachers. Don't slam anyone but yourselves for tolerating it. This is why US students are so dumb. The "teachers" are morons themselves. All they do is complain but do nothing. Band together and demand changes. And dont' bother with the union. teachers union people are nasty scum. They are democrats so that means all they ever do is lie and not ever do anything positive. The schools are the way they are only because of democrats so if you are a teacher and a democrat and a union person you deserve to have to work in the mess of your own creation.

  6. Getting a higher salary does not address the real problem -social disorder. A higher salary would only provide the teacher a greater level of acceptance of bad behavior. Help the teachers out. Back them up and address the problem students. This can be done by a student vote of those they think are disruptive. This is democracy at it's best. Having the students write down on a slip of paper distributed to them who they think are disrupting the class the most. Teacher collects paper votes and, at a proper place and time, sort the names which should become evident with voter numbers. Teacher submits voter tallies to Principal for recommended action within 30 days. Psychological counseling could be set at Holly Center or like facility, even if it is during school time. Let's all face it Chaos cannot continue, nor be tolerated.

  7. The root cause of students that are out of control is because of the tremendous amount of children in fatherless homes.
Today, a 16 year old (and earlier) girl can start pumping out babies while expecting the taxpayers to pay the hospital, food, housing and all other associated costs.

No longer is there the shame of having children out of wedlock. Can you imagine asking a male who has several kids by several women why he doesn't support and nurture his children?
These children are not taught manners at home and it results in out of control kids acting out in school.

I honestly don't know how teachers are expected to deal with the feral children of today.

    1. Oh for pete’s sake....shut up already about “fatherless” homes. That is a slap in the face to the MANY single parents who sacrifice much to raise a child who is respectful, driven, socially adjusted and knows love.

The breakdown in the family unit is NOT how many parents there are, but in the quality or lack of parenting. There are MANY two parent households who are more interested in their social appearance than their kids. There are many two parent households affected by addiction or abuse. There are many two parent households that let the tail wag the dog because of the things that went wrong or they didn’t like about their childhood. Add in the ones who wear blinders (not my kid!) and you get the picture.

The 1950s & 60s are long gone. So is the nuclear family. This is a different time with new challenges in addition to the usual money and time crunch. Stop living in the past.

  8. 11:39- yes, I agree. Social mores have fallen into the pit. Go look at the pictures of people in the 1950's- people used to dress up in public. Men used to curb their swearing in front of women and children. Children used to address adults as maam and sir.

how did we turn into the slovenly, rude, disrespectful slugs that we are now? How? We laugh at the "repressed" 1950's- but maybe we threw the baby out with the bathwater when we went to the freewheeling sixties and the "me me me" 1970's .
For fifty years, I have been hearing social conservatives decrying the latest pop culture filth- and for fifty years, I kept thinking "oh, its not so bad"...but, you know what? Those social conservatives were right. People have gotten uglier and more brutal, our music is awful, our movies are awful, porn is everywhere...you go raise your kids in this open sewer of a culture. I will raise mine to listen to classical music, and read books that matter, and know classic arts and sculpture.

You know, I would like to agree with your statements more than you allow me to. You begin to make valid points and judgments but then you ruin them by tossing out insults, rude conjectures, and just ugly negativity.

I would suggest in the future you would put more thought into your statements and not push people away with your speech.

I know my advice is not asked for but I mean it in a constructive criticism sort of way and hope that is how you receive it. Thank you.

Q: Is "stupider" an actual word?
