Suspect In Attempted Murder-Suicide Was Former State Trooper

CRISFIELD, Md. — A spokeswoman for the Maryland State Police says a man suspected of shooting his estranged wife before fatally shooting himself is a former trooper.

Spokeswoman Elena Russo tells The Daily Times that Gary Preston retired in 2005 at the rank of Trooper First Class.

Preston was found dead at a home in Crisfield on Saturday. State police said responding officers also found his estranged wife, 44-year-old Susan Preston, at the scene with apparent gunshot wounds.

  2. @6:21 what good would that have done in this situation? The man has been RETIRED for over 10 years! Prayers to the family who are having to deal with this awful situation!

  3. Right, like that will solve all issues and the head shrink or doctor doing the evaluation could look in the dudes eyes and report he is subject to be shooting the wife and taking his life at some later time. You should get yours first 6:21 and go apply for a government job. You think like our good government. Maybe have the evaluation legislated with billions of other laws.

  6. 8:36 you mouth breathing tard. Suicide has nothing to do with corruption. The fact is they check your hearing and make sure you are proficient with your weapon. They do not give a crap about you. You are just a number to the Admin. The reason is there would be so much liability placed on the agency if you came back with any sort of mental health issue. You need to look out for one another. Those at the top just do not care. They are to busy smiling for the camera. Gary had been gone a long time this just does not make sense. My prayers are with all the family members.
