HOWELL, Mich. – A Michigan farmer charged with animal cruelty after about 70 cows were found dead on his properties has been sentenced to 15 days in jail and ordered to pay nearly $20,000 in restitution.
Sixty-one-year-old Keith E. Huck Jr. of Livingston County's Cohoctah Township learned his punishment Monday after earlier pleading guilty to reduced charges, including animal abandonment and failure to bury a dead animal.
The Livingston Daily Press & Argus reports Huck told the court it was how he makes a living and "just a big loss."
Huck was charged last year after cows were found in what authorities described as various states of decay. Officials say three pigs and five cows were recovered alive from barns on properties owned by Huck about 50 miles (80 kilometers) northwest of Detroit.

Look I'm not his number 1 fan but he can't file the charges on his own. I wish it worked that way but sadly these things take time.
ReplyDeleteHe's too busy planning the new $29 Million sheriff office!
ReplyDeleteKudos to the County Council for saying no to a pay raise for Mikey.
ReplyDeleteNo if the Sherriff wanted to do something he would take over animal control
ReplyDeleteI fault the deputies that went out to
ReplyDeletethat farm . The Sheriff didn't go till
just before the Rescue. Now, if he knew
about all the reports, then yes, he'd be
to blame also. Something should
be done about it because they are
definitely at fault in not getting a warrent!! Those horses most likely would
not have died , been hungry or in want of
water had they done so sooner!!! And, the
colts that were born stillborn most likely
would not have happened either. They had probable
cause to file for a warrant,no doubt in mind!!
It's sickening to even think about the officers
neglect in the matter! Shame, shame on you !!
If we followed this standard every poultry grower would be in jail.
ReplyDeleteAnimal cruelty laws are weak in Maryland.
ReplyDeleteThe only think Mike Lewis cares about is himself and his image and ego. He cares nothing about the county or the people of the county, let alone animals. The only thing he wants is to get his name engraved in stone on that new sheriff's office he is planning to build.
ReplyDeleteNarcissistic personality disorder - Mike Lewis Diagnosis
ReplyDeleteOverview
Narcissistic personality disorder — one of several types of personality disorders — is a mental condition in which people have an inflated sense of their own importance, a deep need for excessive attention and admiration, troubled relationships, and a lack of empathy for others. But behind this mask of extreme confidence lies a fragile self-esteem that's vulnerable to the slightest criticism.
A narcissistic personality disorder causes problems in many areas of life, such as relationships, work, school or financial affairs. People with narcissistic personality disorder may be generally unhappy and disappointed when they're not given the special favors or admiration they believe they deserve. They may find their relationships unfulfilling, and others may not enjoy being around them.
Treatment for narcissistic personality disorder centers around talk therapy (psychotherapy).
Symptoms
Signs and symptoms of narcissistic personality disorder and the severity of symptoms vary. People with the disorder can (Mike Lewis checked with "Y"):
Have an exaggerated sense of self-importance (Y)
Have a sense of entitlement and require constant, excessive admiration (Y)
Expect to be recognized as superior even without achievements that warrant it (Y) - Although he was elected sheriff, prior to that he was only a state police sergeant with only four people under him.
Exaggerate achievements and talents (Y)
Be preoccupied with fantasies about success, power, brilliance, beauty or the perfect mate (Y)
Believe they are superior and can only associate with equally special people (Y) - Most of the time employees of his rarely see him for months at a time.
Monopolize conversations and belittle or look down on people they perceive as inferior (Y) - can't stop talking, especially about self.
Expect special favors and unquestioning compliance with their expectations (Y)
Take advantage of others to get what they want (Y) - Does this continuously.
Have an inability or unwillingness to recognize the needs and feelings of others (Y)
Be envious of others and believe others envy them
Behave in an arrogant or haughty manner, coming across as conceited, boastful and pretentious (Y) - Very much so.
Insist on having the best of everything — for instance, the best car or office (obviously, lol)
At the same time, people with narcissistic personality disorder have trouble handling anything they perceive as criticism, and they can:
Become impatient or angry when they don't receive special treatment (Y)
Have significant interpersonal problems and easily feel slighted (Y)
React with rage or contempt and try to belittle the other person to make themselves appear superior (Y) - yells and screams regularly
Have difficulty regulating emotions and behavior (Y)
Experience major problems dealing with stress and adapting to change (Y)
Feel depressed and moody because they fall short of perfection (Y)
Have secret feelings of insecurity, shame, vulnerability and humiliation (Y)
Hey, you just described our President!
DeleteAnd Jake Day, Bill Cropper, Jamie Evans, on and on and on!! The area is full of them
DeleteMine Lewis might love him some mike Lewis but if it weren't for him and WCSO the thugs would have already turned Salisbury COMPLETELY into little Baltimore
ReplyDeleteI agree, i believe he is doing great job. Its very easy to sit in ball stadium and yell at batter for not hitting grandslam, but its very different when your standing at that base with 100mph ball coming at you.
DeleteWhat evidence do you have that he is doing a "great job"? Because he knows your name and shakes your hand? Are crime rates lower in the county? No. Is drug use lower? No. Are his people happy? No.
DeleteBlame the county prosecuter AW.
ReplyDeleteInteresting 1225.
ReplyDeleteTreatment: Give him say over a new $29,000,000 Sherriffs facility?
12:15 you are dead on, 1:03 the deputies are keeping Salisbury safer despite Car stop Mike who knows absolutely nothing about urban policing. Keep up the good work guy's & gal's.
ReplyDelete103 Mike lewis has little impact on policing in the city. That's all city police. County doesn't respond to any calls in the city or patrol the city. Also he has very little impact on crime. His deputies are the ones that do the work, and he takes the credit. He's a POS.
ReplyDelete12:25 good grief; you my dear, have a 'judging others' Disorder. Take the log out of YOUR eye. You Will be judged in a likewise manner. Just remember, YOU have NOT reached the Perfected state...Heathen at best.
ReplyDeleteI don't think so. It's in black and white. Look at it. It perfectly fits Mike Lewis. I think you have a mike Lewis disorder lady. I never said I reached a perfect state. Neither have you. I'm a heathen? Who are you from Sanford and son? If I'm a heathen then you're a old fish eyed fool.
DeleteI think it is wrong that 15 years in jail is not near enough and $20,000 fine is out right ridiculously low. Any human being would have known when the first few died he could not handle the situation and he should have asked for help then and there, and to leave the bodies out on the grounds like he did he should have gotten a year in jail, and his property should have been given over to the human society or the county for this poor excuse for a human being.
ReplyDeleteInstead of beating up on Mike Lewis who actually does a job why are we not hearing more complaints about hiring a contractor to finish Main Street downtown. The city already owes the contractor who did the part that was finished and had to haul the debris to the county dump and pay for it which should have been paid by THE CITY OF SALISBURY AND OUR DUMB MAYOR. I want to know if the city has yet paid that bill and now we are going to hire another contractor to finish the job!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteAgain I fail to see how he does any job. Crime rates are higher since took office. Drug use is endemic. Just because he shakes your hand and pats you on the butt doesn't mean he is doing a good job.
DeleteJoe
ReplyDeleteIt isn't Mike Lewis job it's Animal control job wcso is the middle man then it's up to the county prosecuters job .
Ode to Mike Lewis.
ReplyDeleteThe Lawman came with the sun.
There was a job to be done.
And so they sent for the badge and the gun
Of the Lawman.
And as he silently rode,
Where evil violently flowed
They knew he'd live or he'd die by the code
Of the Lawman.
The man who rides all alone
And all that he'll ever own,
Is just a badge and a gun and he's known
As the Lawman.
Ode to Mike Lewis part 2
DeleteThere once was a lawman named mike who was crooked and foul
Down south he took dope money with his pal
There was a federal question
There were facts Mike failed to mention
Now mike is pondering his fate
Will Mike's picture be on the front page all wrong and late?
Mike sure was a smiling, racist politician without fail
Too bad he ended up in jail
Well said 3:02.
ReplyDelete5:13, & others, look, I said INFLUENCE. IF Mike Lewis cares about these animals as much as he implied in ALL of his television interviews, Mike has the INFLUENCE to contact our legislators and create laws. I couldn't care less about the animal control people. Hell, none of you can even say the animal control officers name, let alone that dog catcher using his/her influence to convince our legislators to make such changes.
ReplyDeleteMike is all show and complete bullshit. Yes, he can make people cry and believe in his every word but when push comes to shove he's a figure head and that's it. Like what I say or not, I'm 100% right, period. He's a phony. He's only interested in Mike Lewis. A real man would've already had the ball rolling YEARS ago on animal cruelty. Instead, he's too busy holding seminars and making hundreds of thousands of outside dollars while playing the role of County Sheriff. Oh, then he wants a raise to boot. The guy fools you but he doesn't fool me.
Hahaha and YOURE a real man?
DeleteFight him Joe
Delete7:41, Yes, I am and here's how I will now make you look like a pussy hat wearing fool. My name and statement is on my comment, yours is not. Mic drop!
ReplyDeleteIt is HaHa funny how you always jump in to defend your "manhood". hmmm.... Me thinks the little guy doth protest too much. Ye have a bad case of "short man" syndrome me wee tadpole. A real man does not go about spurting all the time "I am a man because I write I am".
DeleteThe Calls were made to Sheriffs Office AND'
ReplyDeletethey have the right to intervene in animal abuse!
Seems like they were to D--- lazy to get a warrant.
They , the H.S. and any others appointed , which
I only know of those two, are liable to help rescue.
So , blame goes back to the Sheriff Dept. for
lack of " follow through ! "
They need to be " called out ' for not doing
their jobs !!!!! And , the TV Stations, Newspaper
should be more on the ball in digging up the actual
facts and putting out the State Laws
for the Public to view and know about. Laws, that
Law Enforcement are suppose to abide by !
The man had the balls to show up at a fund raiser for the horses. He was at Shelly Benner's house the day she put on the fund raiser. I also observed he had his Harley deputies there also. I guess he thought it might get robbed. It was a total waste of man hours. I am not sure if Mrs.Benner invited him or he invited himself. Over 80 times they responded and did little to nothing. Those animals suffered greatly due to incompetence. Mike can not see that he is mentally ill. With out a doubt he is the most narcissistic person I have ever met. Many people in the equine circles were appalled he had the nerve to show up at the fund raiser. Shelly shame on you if you invited that clown. Joe the bottom line is the man screwed up and never will take any responsibility. Thanks to Mikes racist traffic stops the police in Maryland had to complete forms to assure the stops were not racial profiling. He shot an unarmed man on a stop and skated. He is a piece of sh**
ReplyDeleteMike Lewis puts his pants on one leg at a time just like everyone else. He's a local big man. A big fish in a very small pond. Outside of the eastern shore no one has any idea who he is except for some in law enforcement and Annapolis. But to the lay person he's a nobody. After all of his slick tricks he played on people, stabbing his friends in the back, and all his politicking, hes little more than a short man with big head syndrome. Hes own staff hates him. The comment about yelling at the batter... Mike Lewis always says there's three kinds of cops, first the one who made it happen, second who watched it happen and third the one who wondered what happened. In his case there is a fourth, the one that sits back at watches it happen, claims credit for it and then denies it ever happened.
ReplyDeleteMD State Law says Law Enforcement or anyone
ReplyDeletedesignated , ( H.S.)
could have rescued the animals. I read the
calls were made to the Sheriff Dept. I have
no idea if the H.S. was called or not about this.
It was not stated that they were on T.V. or in
local papers. So , that says ----Sheriff's Dept.
are the ones who held the responsibility and
believe me they knew the circumstances there.
If Laws aren't made more specific and people
don't do their jobs----things such as this will
continue to happen. So what is John Q. Public
going to do ----sit back and fuss about this or
demand from our Officials that more protection
for animals is needed and that our State and
County laws are Not Protecting Animals who
" Can't Speak for Themselves." And that my
friends is Very , very sad !
People need to know the Laws so they can demand those
in Authority Follow them !!
Mike Lewis is a movie star in his own head.
ReplyDeleteOh god, lets please get rid of this guy already. Man this guy sucks. Every time I see him hes kissing babies and shaking hands and then when the person walks away he tells he's cronies standing around what a crap bag the guy is. I've seen him do it multiple times.
ReplyDeleteBook him, Danno!
ReplyDeleteLewis used to sit on the by-pass with another trooper and shoot cats, raccoons etc.. while on duty. He has no moral compass. He is arrogant he has sex every night WITH HIMSELF. Ask him where he stays in Mexico. One of the biggest WHITE drug dealers in the area has a home there and he and Mikey are buds. Thats the reason he leaves white dopers alone because he knows they will talk. Lewis is a cubic zirconia. He thinks he is a diamond but he is a cheap piece of glass. I used to have huge respect for the man but he is no good.
ReplyDeleteOk Thug.
DeleteYep. If he loves animals so much, as he says, ask him how many cats he has shot just because he hates cats. His hatred of cats does not give him the right to shoot them whenever he wants at will. Ask him how many cats he has shot and why and them watch him lie to your face and deny it. Those of us who know him, know the truth. He actually brags about shooting cats because he simply doesn’t like them.
DeleteYuck. This guy again. Everytime I see his face I get nauseous.
ReplyDeleteHave Gun, Will Travel!
ReplyDeleteI couldn't get over the head line on this post , "Care about animals" . It's obvious you don't like this guy , but in his defense he has to take care of the animals with 2 legs in the Salisbury area. That's his priority.
ReplyDelete8:35 If you are referring to criminals, his people don't even enter the bad areas of the county anymore unless there is a call. Check to see how many patrol checks happen on or around booth street. None. He cares about nistdale, but not other citizens of the county.
ReplyDeleteAccording to 12:25, which I concur Mike Lewis fits, he is mentally ill or at least has a serious personality disorder. How can a person with such a mental disorder be in a position of authority in law enforcement? Maybe his deputies or the state police should do an emergency petition on him for evaluation?
ReplyDeleteOk snowflake.
DeleteNEWS FLASH-
ReplyDeleteMike lewis does not like you. He remembers your name so you will vote for him and keep him in his job. He is a politician not a cop.
No matter how many hugs or shakes of the hand, or kisses (if female) he gives you, he doesn't like you. He uses his personality to make you think he likes you to get your vote so he can stay in his cushy job. The second you walk away, he has nothing but negativity to say. When you see him out at events, when he shakes your hand, remember what he is thinking, "This person is an idiot, i'm better than him. He thinks I like him, what an assho*e."
The state senate in Louisiana has passed a bill, SB 236, to criminalize sexual abuse of an animal, despite ten senators voting against it. All of the senators who voted no were Republicans.
ReplyDeleteSo.. what the hell does that mean? What does that have to do with this?
DeleteBuy a clue.
Delete939 your an idiot.
DeleteFinally you folks in Wicomico County are realizing that Mike's just a male cheer leader, doesn't have a cop's bone in his body, he's just a shorter version of Jim Mathias....
ReplyDeleteThe dept was there 2 times for sick horses. The first time, animal control and a vet came. The second time, all of the horses were eventually removed. Without a time machine, or deputies trained as vets, there was nothing else the sheriff could have done. I drove by all the time, and the horses looked healthy to me too.
ReplyDeleteSpeak up then, who would you like to see run against him in the next election? Who would you like to see replace him.
ReplyDeleteAnyone but someone from his organization, they all think their crap doesn't stink, or yet another former trooper. For some reason people are crazy about putting state troopers in sheriffs positions and they all end up sucking
DeleteAliens did it in the dead of night.
ReplyDeleteLewis and his armed GANG are a bunch of jerks
ReplyDeleteTypical thug crying because you got caught. You thugs are all the same. Let me guess it wasn't you? Lol.
Delete10:28 If you rode by the farm and observed the horses to be fine then you are either Mr. Magoo or well just plain stupid. The fact still remains that the Sheriff's Office responded to that farm 81 times over the years not weeks years. Horses are amazing animals and these horses suffered an unspeakable death. Those still alive were starving and sickly. By Lewis' own words they were eating the siding off of the house. So take his miniature weewee out of your mouth and speak some truth. The buck stops with the Sheriff and he screwed the pooch on this one. Look at crime stats for the county if you think he is doing such a great job. He is doing a superior job if you ask him. That is when he is around to ask. Why do you think he left the Maryland State Police early. He was asked to leave.
ReplyDeleteHe was asked to leave MSP by the voters of this county. He has destroyed all political advisaries every election. Sore loser 753.
DeleteThere are a lot of jerks at the sheriffs dept. That's for sure. Guys with chips on their shoulders as big as boulders.
ReplyDeleteGross.
ReplyDeleteNow that I've finally decided to stay on the right side of the law I say hell yea!! I'll continue to support mike Lewis and his goon squad. You know why? Because they have the balls to stand up for what is right and will push back against all rge liberal bullshit and not let the area be completely overrun by Baltimore transferred drug culture. I'd it were up to Day and SPD the area would be in COMPLETE shambles
ReplyDelete831 Eh.. Mike lewis is part of the problem. His outlook on drug enforcement is weak at best. Although he has gone to meetings stating that "we" have to do something besides arresting drug offenders, this can't be farther from the truth. He is a political hack that will tell anyone, anything they want to hear. He realizes that the majority of his base support is conservative, so his message is conservative. But, make no mistake, if he was a different environment, his message would conform to his audience. His message to the black community is completely different than to whites. He sees blacks in the county as less desirable and thus they receive less services from his agency. The hotspots of the county receive the least amount of policing unless there is a grant. Mike has an outlook of containment of blacks to their side of the tracks. What he fails to realize is that even through they may not be his voting base, black people are community members too. I'm not talking about criminal blacks, or whites for that matter. I'm talking about innocent citizens trying to make a living that have to leave in less than desirable neighborhoods. Those people deserve police protection as well. They don't get it. There should be absolutely no distinction between the level of services citizens get regardless of their community. However friends of Mike and people living in affluent communities such as nishdale, get superior services.
ReplyDeleteApril 15, 2018 at 7:53 PM.
ReplyDeleteI saw the horses that were rescued. They were fat and running around. If they were so sickly, they would have been easy for the experts to catch. It took teams days to catch these horses. They looked fine to everyone. The cops were sent down the street 80 times for loose horses, not to check the back of the house. Without checking samples for worms, they had no way of knowing. Blame the owner/criminal, not the cops.
