A Viewer Writes: Sex offender case

The first screenshots are from the local moms post the day she had to go to court in Wicomico County. The State’s Attorney lawyer there - Kristin Heiser - was mean to the victims and told them to sit down. She pled the guy down to the lowest charge and agreed to time served. The only reason the guy is in jail is because Worcester County violated his probation (he was convicted of child pornography from what we’ve heard) and the Worcester County State’s Attorney and judge gave him his three years back up time. I don’t know if Kristin Heiser has children but how would she feel if this was her child that had been followed and videotaped?

Sex offenders with new offenses should not be let go with a slap on the wrist in wicomico county!!!!!!!

Post after Worcester County locked him up:

  3. This is very scary to think she thinks she is qualified to be the State Attorney for Worcester County, people of Worcester County educated yourself! I can't believe she still has a job, I would not want her getting justice for my family.

  4. I don’t want to imagine having my child violated in such a way, but if it ever did happen, (God forbid!) I could not deal with being “handled” by the one person (Kris Heiser) who was supposed to be taking care of us! HOW DARE SHE!? Was she too busy to contact the mother? If she’s too busy now, how could she possibly handle being THE STATE’S ATTORNEY? Why wouldn’t she try harder to keep this creep off the streets??

  5. Why has Kristen Heiser not been fired by Wicomico County. She is either incompetent, lazy or pro-criminal. But no matter what your opinion, she was incredibly rude and uncaring to the victim.

  6. Wow. Clearly heiser wasn't "wiser" she completely dropped the ball. Says she convicts murders yeah right she can't even convict a sex offender and keep the county she's in safe and now we want to move her to Worcester? No thanks lets keep bill McDermott

    1. Yes...compare the

Yes...just compare the number of prosecuted murder cases of these two candidates. It's a no brainer.Bill McDermott is clearly the winner and works hard to protect the people. Stats don't lie.

  8. Bill McDermott is running for Maryland States Attorney. He deserves your vote. He cares about the victim. He has gone above and beyond for the people of Worcester County and will do the same for the State. I'm glad that he could be there for you.

  9. Wow that really says something about Heiser and Mcdermott!! I was undecided at first but now my mind is made up for the future of Worcester County. Vote for Bill Mcdermott if you have any kind of sense!!!

  10. Heiser is a fantastic prosecutor who handles 100's of cases weekly. Before jumping to conclusions, what evidence was there in the Wicomico County Case? I know Heiser is a woman of integrity and character, so I suspect she knew she couldn't get a conviction and offered the best plea deal possible. She is gutsy and has no problem prosecuting a case if the evidence is there to prove it. This reeks of politics!!!

  11. I heard from some friends of hers that she's already planning on running for oc city council after she loses states attorney...

  12. How did Worcester allow such a light sentence for this guy in the first place? Kiddie porn can net 10 years but looks like the guy got something like a year and a half. At least he had 3+ years to add on at his probation hearing. Looks like Fontaine was used for political reasons to make Heiser look bad.

  13. Seems like Worcester gave him a fully suspended sentence a while back and that is why he was free to roam the Shore.

  14. You should have the problem with Worcester County. This guy was arrested and charged with 27 separate offenses in 2015. Worcester County was responsible for him being on the street. He's now doing 15 years and 2 months. The reason Wicomico plead him down was because they knew he had the 15 years.

  15. Not sure how any of it could be political when it's all straight from the victims post. Seems like some people want it to be political to hide from the truth that some poor victim was mistreated by their candidate. My mind was already made up, but this sure makes it easy.

  16. @ 6:43 - Apparently you don’t know politics...Carry on. My mind is made up too! Heiser is fantastic!

    1. Maybe I dont. Are you saying the post is fake? I looked her up, you can read it on her page. Says she didnt even know mcdermott till this happened. I also noticed she never mentioned heisers name, even though people asked her. If it's political wouldn't she have used her name? Heiser messed up. Plain and simple.

  17. It’s pretty obvious that some of these comments were written by her friends who are desperately trying to justify behavior that is simply unacceptable. To accuse the victim’s mother of setting this up for political reasons is offensive and insulting.
This isn’t just about the end result, which is that he plead to a lesser charge and received time served. The main issue is that she showed no respect or compassion to the victim and simply demonstrated that not only does she not fight for what’s right, but most importantly she does not care. That’s the bigger problem. I am
sure plea deals get worked out all the time but the victim should have a say and be treated with respect. Keep Bill McDermott!

  18. The guy just loves kids, he identifies as a child care giver, so give him a break. He is a model Democrat.

  19. The post at 6:38 is just wrong on so many levels. Why would a prosecutor just plea someone down because they knew they were already doing time for something else?
So basically the message to criminals is...If you get a 15 year sentence for one crime, then go out and commit ANOTHER crime dont worry...Kris Heiser understands you're already doing jail time, so she wont make any effort to increase your sentence. Yikes, thats scary.

  20. Jamie Dykes needs to fire her! The truth will come out about Ms. Heiser and all the lies she has told will be known. Is this someone you want for your County Worcester County residents? I live in Wicomico and will be voting so I hope Ms. Dykes shows she is a strong State Attorney, that can protect our county and will not tolerate someone that will not look out for the vitims.

    1. I completely agree! She can’t stand behind a prosecutor that acts this way. I am watching to see how she handles this for sure.

    2. I dont know that the woman should be fired but I definitely dont think she should be running for State's attorney. Maybe she needs more training

  21. It's true, you do need to co nsidier politics in all this. When I consider that we are in a politically driven climate right now, you'd think- with all eyes on you as a candidate- you'd be making a great effort to do whats right and make a good impression on people. This victim had a horrible experience and was treated with disrespect. Is it because the vixtim cant vote for her living jn Wicomico?
Will it get worse when she's not in the political spotlight or is it just that "you get what you get" with that prosecutor? Either way, doesnt make me want to vote for her.

  22. And if Heiser handled the plea apparently it would have been probably to just giving a fake name...oh wait..that’s right, she doesn’t prosecute serious crime. She is just a district court prosecutor after all her “years of experience.” It all makes sense why she is still in district court. She’s not cut out for dealing with serious cases as seen in how she handled herself in this case.

If that’s her reasoning for pleading down a case so ridiculously low without even a simple phone call to the Mom she doesn’t deserve to be a prosecutor let alone the head of the whole office.

  23. You are filmed almost everywhere you go. It is legal to photograph or film anyone in a public place such as a store regardless of their age. Walmart has people looking at the surveillance cameras and can zoom in on you or anyone in the store or parking lot.

  24. This is the biggest problem with politics. People pick a side and then ignore facts and reason. Fact: this mother posted her story looking for help because she was treated poorly by heiser. Never contacting her before trial? Can any reasonable person excuse that? Fact: that's a mistake at best and a dereliction of ethical obligations at worst. Fact: Bill McDermott did his job not just appropriately, but he did it so well he inspired this lady to share it with the community. Fact: The Child Predator is now back in prison thanks to a mother who refused to accept the way she was treated and the outcome. For people in Worcester County who have watched this race, we've always known that the experience level isn't even close. But this just shows you a real life comparison of how dangerous inexperience can be. But this is also discourse, so I'd love to hear from someone who is willing to excuse her for not calling this woman before trial or not informing her of the plea.

  27. I've dealt with the SA's office several times as the victim of theft and burglary. Was never contacted by them regarding the cases. Nol Prosed with no warning. Chalked it to defendant snitching on others, but it seems that this is the norm. Many of us no longer call the police and deal with it privately.

  28. It’s clear and has been for years that McDermott is far more qualified than Mrs. Heiser to lead and run a state’s attorneys office . It’s just not even close . Everyone who reads a local paper has seen serious felonies like murder, rape and robbery being prosecuted in jury trials by McDermott . It’s all over the place and he is a talented litigator who can sway juries . It’s just a fact . Heiser doesn’t have a resume or background or evidence to show us that she can prosecute serious jury trials in high pressure cases where victims are depending on you
And defense lawyers are trying every trick in the book. It’s just the facts . Heiser can’t just delegate murder cases to subordinates if she is States Attorney and go attend a weekday event or lecture at a high school . The state’s attorney of Worcester County has to grab these files and prosecute them . Any assistant state’s attorney can plead a case , but we HAVE to elect someone who is able and wants to put his reputation on the line and prosecute lengthy trials on the county’s most serious felonies . Ask yourself why Heiser has not chosen to do that in her County job now in Wicomico . Is she not alllowdd to do it or she shows no interest in doing it ????? And for gods sake , why does she put on her website that she prosecuted in one of the “ most dangerous/violent cites per capita in the country ( Salisbury ) “
What is she trying to tell us by that ? Ok, if that’s the case and you’ve been there for years , go and prosecute jury trials . There are plenty of jury trials going on each day in your courthouse .

    1. Couldn’t agree more. If you look her name up on the Maryland Case Search website in Wicomico county, 2 cases come up. One district court case for a citation that she placed on the STET and a pending murder case that she added her name to after her announcement to run for State’s Attorney. That’s all, 7 years in Wicomico County and that is all she has to show for it. Look up William McDermott on that same website in Worcester County and look at all he has accomplished in those same 7 years. It speaks for itself.

  30. Yes and is it not the prosecutor's responsibility to present all the details of a case to make sure the judge or jury knows why this scum bag should be off the streets?
