A new series of stunning colorised photos show the devastating effects of the Spanish flu epidemic that killed 50 million people at the beginning of the 20th century.
The photos were released today on the 100th anniversary of the epidemic which swept across the world while it was still reeling from the First World War.
Royston Leonard, 55 from Cardiff, colourised the photos which were originally taken in 1918 and show how communities across America struggled to cope with the deadly H1N1 influenza virus.
