Lawless: Atlanta Police To Stop Responding To Shoplifting Calls

Blue cities too understaffed to address crime, but still call for gun control

Officers will no longer respond to shoplifting calls uptown, announced the Atlanta Police Chief.

“You can only do so much,” Erika Shields told local media. “We are going to change how we handle shoplifting calls, and primarily – for the most part – we will not be responding to them.”

  3. A very good reason Gov't doesn't want to officially get involved because THEY under resource services (i.e., police, firefighters, teachers, security). Of course those services are understaffed and cannot handle the work - gov't doesn't provide enough funding.

Folks are also mistaken because there can never be enough services to go around. There are actual folks that believe if they pick up the phone and request a service, it must be there immediately. Sad, but entirely true!

    Wag that dog!

  6. The police will be involved still, after the security people go to the court commissioner with the complaint and show of evidence that will cause a warrant to be issued for the arrest for theft.

  7. There is no income from police investigating shoplifting

They spend their time in more productive areas like traffic law (Statutes) enforcement.
Lots of money to be made for the government.

    This entropy in action.
    It cannot be stopped.
EVERYTHING breaks down and moves from order to chaos.
ANYONE think this stuff is going to get better??? LOL
Buy guns and make sure you know how to hit with the first round.

  11. Native Georgians referred to the beltway around Atlanta as the Ring Around the Congo in the late 70's. Had to fly through Atlanta frequently for several months for a work project in rural Georgia. Doesn't sound like conditions have improved. Rough area.

Beltway traffic was busy as DC at rush our.

But if government can't or won't protect property, it's just a short step until it stops acting on behalf of human victims, or providing deterrence. Chief Shields should resign. You can't buy enough pizza to solve this problem.

  12. Mass transit in ATL is MARTA. MARTA stands for Moving Africans Rapidly Throughout Atlanta.
