U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Heeds Rep. Harris’ Call to Prioritize Funding for Knapps Narrows

WASHINGTON, DC: The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) has awarded a contract of $1.4 million for the dredging of Knapps Narrows in Talbot County, MD. Congressman Andy Harris, M.D. (MD-01) has consistently supported and worked to secure funding for the Knapps Narrows project, and released the following statement in support of the Army Corps’ announcement:

“The people of Talbot County depend on Knapps Narrows for the transportation of goods and both commercial and recreational fishing. The completion of this project is greatly overdue, to the point that the water has shoaled from a depth of 9 feet in 2006 to a current controlling depth of 2.6 feet. I thank the Army Corps of Engineers for working with my office and the office of Delegate Johnny Mautz to prioritize and secure funding for this project, and I look forward to its swift completion.”
