President Donald Trump says his Cabinet secretaries should be able to fire federal workers who "undermine the public trust or fail the American people."
He made the comment in connection with the Veterans Affairs Administration, while discussing "what kind of future we are going to have and what kind of nation we are going to be."
"Last year, the Congress passed, and I signed, the landmark VA Accountability Act. Since its passage, my Administration has already removed more than 1,500 VA employees who failed to give our veterans the care they deserve -- and we are hiring talented people who love our vets as much as we do."

A dangerous precedent to set. Any president should be subject to checks and balances and should not have authority to clean house because he/she disagrees with someone. This applies to EVERY PRESIDENT not just Trump.
ReplyDeleteSo you don't want to clean house on government employees who just show up each day and collect a paycheck. That would never happen in private industry.
DeleteThese are employees. Employees are hired and paid to do a specific job, with specific requirements. If they fail to do the job, they should no longer be employees, nor should they continue to be paid as such.
ReplyDeletewhat a concept - accountability!
ReplyDeleteDangerous to Killery and the DNC. (map)
ReplyDeleteWe love the vets more than regular people.
ReplyDeleteThey are more important and valuable.
Anyone who helps to kill others so that I can be free is a hero in my book.
Thank you
Bring back the draft. It serves 2 purposes - respect for your fellow American and ensures that we have Americans who will enjoy their freedom.
ReplyDeleteAll those Democrats that sat on their fat asses during his STU speech need to be fired.
ReplyDeleteThere are many terrific people working in VA hospitals. But there are always a few who are only there for a paycheck and unqualified for their position and they ruin the reputation of the VA.
ReplyDeleteThe problem I have is with the Veterans Choice Program. Spending over a billion dollars for a middle person to set up appointments outside the VA that take just as long to get in to see a doctor anywhere else. Save taxpayers money by eliminating this useless program and hire competent federal employees to do their job.
Please don't stop at the Federal level. There is plenty of incompetence at the State level as well !!!Ray!!!
