His efforts revolve around a repeal of the Gun-Free School Zones Act of 1990. He introduced that repeal on January 3, 2017, then renewed the push on Twitter two days after Nikolas Cruz made his way onto the campus of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, shooting at defenseless victims in a gun-free zone.
Massie tweeted:
Rep. Massie spoke with Breitbart News on February 16, saying, “Gun-free zones are invitations to deranged criminals. Why on earth would we have a federal law to advertise our schools as such? The 1990 law has done absolutely nothing to improve school safety, and should be repealed because it makes schools less safe.”

Tommy Boy - and I say that loosely to not disrespect America's true Tommy Boy (Chris Farley) - What if teachers DON'T want to carry? What if teachers DON'T want that extra responsibility?
ReplyDeleteDon't kick the can down the road. The problem still isn't solved (and may never be) and its your job to figure it out. If not, move aside and allow someone else with BALLS to do the job.
Oh, by the way Tommy Boy - PASS A DAMN BUDGET! That's really your GOVT JOB and you FAIL to do it year after year RINO!
12:48 You haven't been listening! Start paying attention. No one has ever said teachers would be forced. It would be on a volunteer basis and the proposal being tossed about is they would receive a bonus for taking on the responsibility since it would require extra time for training.
ReplyDeleteHas no one thought about the fact that this whole thing is going to have to get past the teachers' unions?
ReplyDeleteAnd what political party controls the teachers' unions?
1:23 A bonus is not going to cover training. What world are you living in? The unions will ensure that teachers are paid for training, the training is paid for, the safe to keep the gun in is paid for and additional time off with pay to attend training. Followed by your complaining about how much taxes are. There are almost 100,000 public schools in the US. You do the math.
ReplyDeleteFIRST you must remove all the protection from congress and state and federal legislators, that includes judges and the supreme courts.
ReplyDeleteTake the money (for whatever effort) and apply it to private security firms. Guberment always takes from education to begin with anyway...then law enforcement and emergency responders.
ReplyDeleteCONgress MUST come up with a solution - OR they (presently sitting in the seats) will be gone gone!
I've been saying for twenty years that teachers should be armed. Now if they don't have enough strength or guts no problem. Shouldn't be mandatory.
ReplyDelete1:38 Training and arming teachers is not anything new. It's been done in many school districts/counties throughout the country for years including in parts liberal CA of all states. Other states include TX and over 20 more. The union has no say. They can't tell a teacher not to be trained and armed anymore then they can tell them they can't teach summer school since it's volunteer.
ReplyDeleteWe heard the same hysteria coming from the democrats after 911 when it was suggested pilots should be armed and adding air marshals to flights. We heard how there was going to be shoot outs and how the plane was going to get a hole blown in it. None of that happened. The lone result of letting pilots carry and air marshals has been there hasn't even been one attempted hijacking.
ReplyDeleteLet this sink in. If a teacher is not armed, they are just as vulnerable as the students from an active shooter. Why not leave it up to them as their constitutional right to bear arms? All that needs to be done is eliminate "gun free zone" from schools. My daughter is a teacher and has told me many times how she wishes she could be armed in school.
