Pennsylvania's new election map delights Democrats, enrages GOP

PITTSBURGH- The new congressional district map released by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court Monday not only completely renumbered every district in the state, but also knocked both Democrat Conor Lamb and Republican Rick Saccone out of the seat they are running for in the special election race less than a month away.

The plan also divides the city of Philadelphia into only two congressional seats instead of the current three. It also splits 13 counties, nine of them into two districts, and four into three.

    There needs to be a law passed that the county lines are the district lines, no redrawing nothing.

    County lines or just a straight grid divided by population alone, period. Gerrymandering a month before an election is flat out election tampering.

    Don't worry. Pennsylvania voters will notice the injustices and will vote accordingly when and where it matters.

    It is not the judges place to draw new lines. Thet is legislating from the bench. This is a constitutional violation.

    Welcome to the Eastern Shore of Maryland. That same kind of gerrymandering has gone on here on the Shore for the past nearly 60 years......counties split into pieces, communities divided.....all in the name of FAIRNESS & EQUITY. Gerrymandering is wrong, wrong, wrong.

    Gerrymandering is a crime against the citizenry. Whether done by a legislature or by judicial fiat.

    Legislators face the voters every few years so voters have some recourse, in addition to town halls and emails.

    IIRC, PA Supreme Court justices face retention elections about every 10 years, but don't town hall or respond, except if they're on the ballot that year.

    New boundaries a month before an election is malfeasance and tampering by the court.

    Hope SCOTUS will enjoin the new districts so PA governor and legislature can find agreement over the summer.
