UPDATE: A reliable source told me there was a fight at the School. There were 18 police vehicles and a witness said automatic weapons were drawn.
There's been no notification posted by the BOE but there's a tremendous amount of police vehicles around Parkside High School. Hopefully we hear, (or see) something in the near future.
Hopefully it is nothing.
ReplyDeleteI could see the use of shotguns with beanbags...but full auto with so many children? seriously?
ReplyDeleteMaybe it was not the police who drew the automatic weapons. Anyone who thinks there are not guns on students in school right now is living in a bubble.
DeleteDrove by when they were getting there. Everyone was running frantically with guns out.
ReplyDeleteThere were canine units.
ReplyDeleteWhat is the officer doing in the second picture? He seems stressed. What is in his hands?
ReplyDeleteI sent pics got pic late but he was putting a fully automatic rifle or whatever in backseat
DeleteAnd you know it was “fully automatic” as opposed to semiautomatic how? Or are you just a libtard that heard someone else use the term and thought it sounded meaner?
DeleteHe's looks to be pulling a shotgun or patrol rifle out of a case.
ReplyDeleteIf the police were told weapons may be involved, especially a firearm, then the response would be as if there is an active shooter. Every police officer responds, armed and ready, and goes directly to the incident.
Of Course as a parent we have not heard one single word from the school!
ReplyDeleteAt a distance, how does one determine the rate of fire of an AR-15? Full auto is determined by internal components and an indicator marking on the receiver at the fire/safe selector.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I was going to comment the same exact thing until I read yours. It’s the “oh my god a black rifle” crap that the gun haters push all the time.
DeleteLet me just say it was a 9mm so all because i didnt ask them hey is that a ak or a ar15 really o and it didnt have a orange thing at the tip also stfu you all run from the truth i go straight to it so wboc board of ed and parkside cant bs our community and say like jake does nothing is goin on here lol
DeletePretty sure no one at the County carries 9mm weapons. .40 or .45 yes..... .223 or 5.56 yes as well. Go back to where you learned about firearms and try again.
DeleteDid anyone ever consider that what everyone is calling a fully automatic weapon could be a pepper ball gun? No, because most comments come from people who have no clue about police or what less lethal alternatives they have. But if there was an active shooter at the school, the same idiots would want to know why the police didn't do more.
ReplyDeleteTHANK YOU to law enforcement for the quick response!! And for always running toward the danger. Wicomico County schools have gotten out of hand. The admin should be ashamed for letting it get to the point where police intervention is necessary.
ReplyDeleteBlame the gov’t rules and regs, stats and current racial climate...not the admin or teachers. They can only do what their higher-ups allow. It’s all about the stats and funding tied to those stats. Get the cell-phones out of the schools or put in a data blocker. Get rid of the funding tied to stats that can be completely falsified. Go back to an immediate punishment that is suitable for the offense, no matter your skin color. And give the teachers control of their classrooms with admin support! Ridiculous to keep raising the bar of what behaviors we will “allow” in schools!
Deletestate laws tie the hands of administrators in regards to student behavior. So don’t blame the admin. Blame your state legislators. Educate yourself on why student behavior is out of hand so you understand where the blame truly lies.
DeleteBlame the teachers union too. They have supported these liberal laws and policies by licking the butts of Democratic lawmakers.
DeleteOur community should perhaps also be ashamed. The schools have few rights for enforcing rules. Half the time parents argue to get their kids OUT of trouble, convinced the enforcement was unfair when it happens to their own. Kids come to school traumatized by lack of trusted adults, drugs, poverty, etc., and we expect the schools to fix it all. All the years of growth in this county and we were so afraid to collect impact taxes, now we have more kids, more problems and lack of funds to deal with it all, including law enforcement. Sad state of affairs.
ReplyDeleteAs a teacher at the school I can tell you that many of the "parents" are the problem. Many of problem kids have no care about themselves or anyone else. They do not care of any rules or their education. It's next to impossible to get in touch with them and when you do you realize why their kids behave the way they do. Many will show up in may and wonder why their little angel will be in the 9th grade for the third year.
DeleteWhen I picked up my son for early release, I asked and he didn't know what happened. He wasn't near wherever the activity was and evidently not bad enough for school to be locked down.
ReplyDeleteI teach there and many of us had no idea about any of the fights. I was told that there were 5.
DeleteTypical thinking on the liberal part. Instead of condemning the reason the Police were dispatched in the first place....NO....they question the use of "automatic weapons" in the response without knowing the facts of the dispatch....morons!!!
ReplyDeleteOn line schooling sounds better every day. Understand it is tax deductible.
ReplyDeleteHow are these people able to describe these weapons as fully automatic weapons? The average person and even experience people cannot tell an automatic weapon from a semi-automatic unless it is in their possession and fires the weapon for verification. Appears that they do not know that they were semi-automatic. This is how Liberal anti-gun describes any type of weapon. They need to be informed on facts and not their beliefs / opinions.
ReplyDeleteI remember when it was a nice school then the liberals had the ghetto brought in.
ReplyDeleteI thought Parkside was the good high school?
ReplyDelete12:11 Amen!
ReplyDeleteIt was big and scary looking.
ReplyDelete11:53 and 12:08, thats an ar and leo ar's have full auto select {clearly your not as knowledgeable about ar's as you think you are}, ar's/rifles dont shoot pepper balls. That being said, if the call was an active shooter then by all means....but more than likely just some adolescent thugs having a temper tantrum.
ReplyDeleteI'm a LEO and my AR is not fully auto. Few are. The ones that are would be old military surplus, and I know officers are trained to use fully auto or 3 shot burst functions.
DeleteHaha...all police ARs are fully auto....damn mine must be broke. Obviously not many at all are fully auto.
DeleteYeaaa...i highly doubt he was putting a FULLY AUTOMATIC rifle in his back seat. Possibly a SEMI AUTO rifle that looks "scary".
ReplyDeleteI HIGHLY doubt there are "fully automatic" weapons on scene. More like semi auto. People should be more informed about gun safety before they go running at the mouth spreading rumors... Hopefully everyone stays safe.
ReplyDeleteA neighbor of ours called the school. They told her that a small fight broke out that required the resource officer to break it up. Sounds like complete BS to be. The resource officer would be 1 cop, not 18 running in with guns drawn.
ReplyDeleteAh, liberals. (Yes). Now they ruin our schools. Liberalism is ""sad"" get thus craziness OUT and make ""our"" schools SAFFE again!!!,!
ReplyDeleteTalk about CYA comments. The second image clearly shows the type of gun that was drawn. I had witnesses there that counted the amount of vehicle on the scene, so there wasn't FIVE. Be here tomorrow in the noon hour and I'll have an incredible article ALL parents in Wicomico County need to see.
ReplyDeleteThanks joe next time ill ask the officer to wait so i can take a picture with whatever he was putting up which wasnt a 9mm lol people these days
Delete5 fights at Bennett middle this week.
ReplyDeleteToday resulted in kids getting maced and take away in cuffs
Good. That's what need to happen to the little punk. U fortunately, the courts will let him or her off with no punishment. The parents will complain that it is the schools fault.
DeleteMy child was at BMS and yes the students fighting were maced after she wrestled the security guard and mace effected other students nearby including our child. Not one phone call home. Terrible.
ReplyDeleteWasn’t this over kill for a fight that happens weekly!
ReplyDelete
ReplyDeleteAltercation during a class change. No injuries. Kids involved were sent home. Lunches normal and so was student flow to and from lunch. Parents got more details in the normal weekend email from the principal. School stayed on 'Normal' status throughout.
Schools are prepared to respond to variety of issues. Response by deputies appears to be excellent.
As frequently discussed, most kids are good kids. There is a small subset determined not to comply, and all school districts have their hands tied by Federal mandates that are forced on the states. The regs preceded Obama's time but his appointees enthusiastically pushed more restrictive policies.
As Jack Webb used to ssay, "Just the facts."
We saw the JMB riots last year. We saw attempted rapes at phs and jmb. This insanity has to stop. the schools your children go to are more like the inside of prisons at this point. This is directly the fault of obama and a liberal state legislature. Dont believe me? Look it up yourself! Obamas "edict" to limit punishments for blacks was "declared" in 2013. You just cannot make this up.
ReplyDeleteOur administration at Parkside tried to shame us last year by handing out our list of referrals from the previous year listed by race. They actually told us this wasn't done on purpose but of course it was. It was a pathetic attempt of shaming. That is the point I lost all respect for them. There different set of rules for different groups of students at our school. The DOJ investigation thanks to Margo Handy probably has a lot to do with this. Things are getting worse by the day. This spring should be interesting.
DeleteThere was not a fight at bms. It was stopped before a puch was thrown. . One student continued to fight sro.
ReplyDeleteThere are at lease 3 videos on social media networks, basically these kids are advertising their fights . Trying to see who can get the most likes and views.
DeleteThe fight continued after school too. It happened on Delaware Ave. There were tons of people fighting including adults. It took at least 20 cop cars and two ambulances to clean it up. At one point one girl was being jumped by five other girls. I bet you won’t see this in the media tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteSadly, the administrators and teachers have very little control over what happens in the schools. The BOE dictates everything, and truly ties the hands of those actually supposed to be leading the schools. No more In School Suspensions, no expulsions, students of color are only supposed to be suspended if the infraction is repetitive or so horrendous there's no other option, special education students can only be suspended with BOE prior approval, etc. It's absurd. Parents are a huge part of this problem by coddling and defending their kids, right or wrong. The whole situation is disgusting! Get the politics OUT of the BOE, get a staff in there with a backbone who won't back down to parents, and expel the repeat trouble makers! If their parents want them to go to school, they'll have to send them to private school. Sorry, but they should've done their job as parents. I'm so sick to death of the BOE hiding the truth about what really happens, and that they allow the DOJ to dictate punishments. I'm sick to death of the Special Ed. Dept. pretending that truly troubled children that need to be in self-contained or E.D. classrooms will be just fine in a regular classroom. They don't have to deal with these out of control kids on a daily basis! The punishments meted out do NOT follow the code of conduct; why even waste the ink to print the code of conduct? I'm so disgusted. Even when the SRO is involved and a kid is sent to the Juvenile Justice Department, NOTHING happens to them or their parents. Truancy Court is a joke. I could go on and on...our schools are in BIG, BIG trouble unless somebody cleans house and gets some people with spines to lead them. Yes, even Dr. Hanlin needs to GO - her empty promises are a huge disappointment. I'm so done with this County in every way! Crime, school system, roads, justice system (not just for kids!), everything! SOMETHING must be done!!!

Yeah, I agree with you. A fully auto weapon is useless for accurate fire. It is more useful for suppressing fire. And in a school setting? Totally irresponsible. And I doubt anyone could identify a full auto weapon from a distance or in a picture. Fear talking.
Why are these animals in our public schools they don't belong there.
ReplyDeleteThis is why i quit teaching here. And wcboe even admits to a whopping 20% turnover rate per every 3 year cycle. And yet, they wonder why. Idiots and fools run that place. Vince pavic and his idiotic statements in the daily times just show how clueless these people are. And you NEVER see them in schools, just their nice cushy office.
ReplyDeleteJust a note , these kids as call them , are capable of killing . These cops don't have and are not issued automatic weapons. These are semi-auto , do your home work before you comment. The teachers cannot and will not control the students , all students suffer because of the "thugs" as you guys call them .
ReplyDeleteIs it a racial issue , of course , BLM.
The problem is the economy and bad parents. You have latchkey kids because Mom (and maybe Dad but probably not) works at one or two minimum wage jobs where they change up your schedule daily so you never know how to prepare for the day. The kids leave, the kids come home, no supervision, no role models other than scumbags on the internet, MTV and BET. This is how children are raised in America and we wonder why we are having problems.
ReplyDeleteChanges in punishment for black students was needed because school systems were finding ANY reason to expell underperforming kids to make their numbers look better, and get more taxpayer dollars. I saw the reverse of this in my SDHS where the white Salutatorian received NO punishment what so ever for putting film developing chemicals into a classmates drink.
Most teachers don't care, they are there because they wanted a job with tenure. The ones who do care don't have the resources needed to do their job and keep order. The BOE only cares about growing their own budgets and pay grades. The solution is to pull your kids out and homeschool if you can afford it, or send them to school with brass knuckles if you cant... hey, it's not like they will get in trouble.
actually I have worked, as a parent, with Dr. Hanlan, always found her to be more then caring, informed when addressing my own and other parents concerns. She was left with a BOE in shambles and is working hard to change the culture. That said the feds have placed numerous regs on just what can and can't be done. So she has to step lightly or risk spending our tax dollars on defending lawsuits from these same problem children and their parents. Time for trump to have the doj and dept of ed remove these bs regs from obama's legacy! the kids act up and don't want an education then no need for them to be in our schools. Let the animals stay home!
ReplyDeleteWhite flight is getting ready to increase to numbers never seen on the eastern shore which will doom the economy
ReplyDeleteThe establishment will try and keep a tight lid on this - because they don't want the public to actually know that there are significant problems in and around Salisbury. They'll try and quell any publicity about the incident.
ReplyDeleteI knew something really big was going down on Friday as there were Police cars out the kazoo with sirens blaring running all through the City Park, Beaglin, Snow Hill Road, and they were headed right straight to Parkside. How one can try and hide this activity is beyond me. WHERE IN THE HELL IS THE REST OF THE PRESS?
But let your kid who follows the rules, never gets in trouble, with involved parents miss 6 unexcused days and we get a letter threatening family services involvement if the attendance does not improve. The publice school system has become a joke and the only people that do not realize it are those in the board building. Teacher, parents and students know it!!
ReplyDelete8:21,couldnt agree with you more seems to be an underlying agenda with the leftist media here to keep things secret.
ReplyDeleteNot only public schools hide thier problems.. private schools do as well. Even when the
ReplyDeleteKids and teachers witness the issue the board pretends it never happened.
To 9:21 Poster that said; 'Not only public schools hide their problem..private schools as well.
ReplyDeleteResponse: Ordinarily I would agree with you, but remember the Rape that occurred in the stairwell at Parkside? And how about the Underwood incident whereby he had an affair with a female student. And there are many others in the Wicomico County public school system.
This whole culture is out of control. Just like all these so called athletes at parkside football. What happened with those clowns? Didn't hear of any major college football signings on Feb 7 coming out of park side and from some of the social media circus they are a big part of the problems over there.
ReplyDeleteConsider this. Holly Center is a few blocks away. If staffed properly with psychiatric doctors or counselors it could be a means of directing these misguided youths from becoming worse than they are. Give the professionals a chance to change the deteriorating youth of today with proper counseling. Include the parents also and make it mandatory for all. Sometimes it takes an isolation of the disruptive students to be shown there is a more reasonable path to follow than the one they are traveling.
ReplyDeleteMy suggested answer, is to simply it Shut Down. That's right, you heard me right - shut down the entire school system. First off, the school system claims that it can't staff its institution with teachers, that there isn't enough teachers graduating to fill the vacant slots. Then - it claims it doesn't have enough money to pay the teachers. Then - it claims it needs bilingual specialists to cope with the influx of Hispanics, and other foreigners. It says the classrooms need to air conditioned, needs state-of-art robotics, computers.
ReplyDeleteHell - I also need a new car and TV and would like to upgrade my own HVAC - yet their aren't any jobs around Salisbury/Wicomico to properly support the fundamental family infrastructure let alone a Wicomico County School system.
Just this week in California it said that one of Facebook's founders was going to pay $500 a month to individuals - for a universal income fund. Why - because it said 1-5 in Stockton, CA were living at or below the poverty level.
I got news for Stockton officials, come to Wicomico County and you'll find the ratio of poverty at least that high if not higher. We've got some BIG BIG problems here on the eastern shore, especially in Somerset!!
Hey Salisbury your city and county are totally out of control!! You've allowed the system to dictate how your city will be run. There's no respect for each other or dear of incarceration. To these misfits its a badge of honor. You will never get it back and for those of you that continue to hold on to days gone by say 30-40 years ago and how good things were let it go get out if you can. Salisbury is a welfare city now. What you see in. Baltimore you will be living ten years from now
ReplyDeleteTo 10:34 - Ditto, I whole-hearted agree! It's a matter of survival here in Wicomico, we don't have a sustainable economy to support individuals, much less their offspring. There is no manufacturing, and we all know this to be the truth. The only jobs are those at the government levels, and yet this type of economy is unsustainable. One cannot simply keep raising the bar by increasing income taxes, real estate taxes, and then raising the governmental salaries and increasing the shear number of employment levels at the government levels, it is unsustainable and will implode. And that's what has happened and is still happening. It's no wonder Wicomico has historic numbers of latchkey kids, its because we have no economy!
ReplyDelete'Shut Er Down', great idea, and I'm all in favor of it. Believe me, its a simple process, but our elected officials are the real obstructionist.
ReplyDeleteThe elected leaders know what the problems are, but hey, as long as they can go get their own weekly paychecks out of the mailbox, why upset the roost?
They have no backbone to make the really touch choices, and it is so much easier for them to just let things remain the same as opposed to having a public affray. And that's what the State of Maryland has, a malfunctioning economy. I agree with one of the above posters, and IMHO Salisbury looks almost like a mirror reflection of Baltimore, maybe worse.
Totally agree. The powers to be know the problems are out of control and beyond their capabilities but they will keep the circus going as long as possible to get themselves a paycheck. What it must be like for a teacher to have to get up every morning and drag themselves to work. That's gotta suck
ReplyDeleteTea I'd love to hear from some of the parents. You give into these thugs because they might be able to play football or basketball. You even get out there and act like fools dancing and rapping after games. What kind of example are you really setting? To me you look like a bunch of damned fools especially now after your public schools resemble that of inner cities
ReplyDeleteLook no further than the leader of your city. He's established a welfare mentality, a living off of taxpayer funds. He can be regularly seen posting ignorant content on social media, and drunk somewhere or promoting drunken behavior. What kind of message is this? You have a total clusterf*** going on Salisbury and its only going to get worse
ReplyDeleteBring back discipline. Don't allow whining, bullying and being called racist to stop the discipline. If they create a problem deal with them. Being poor is not an excuse for behavior problems either. You can still be taught respect and right from wrong no matter what your income is. Also make the parents and kids pay damages when something is destroyed. And if the kids still does not straighten up expel them.
ReplyDeleteSo what was going on?
ReplyDeleteWhy all the police?
I read a lot of commment about all the trouble in schools! First,if you don’t know the facts , we don’t need to comment. Everyone keep blaming the BOE for the problems in school. They have no control of what parents are saying and doing with these kids causeing the trouble. The kids causing the problems parents threaten to sue the BOE if they do anything to their child. Then the federal government stepped in in and told schools, You can’t keep suspending the kids creating the problems, because they are minority’s! So thee. Schools have allow the problems rule the schools. Facts are facts, but the BOE hands are tied! Until government federal government gets out of schools, it will ol worse!
ReplyDeleteThere's your problem right there. Always making excuses for minorities. What happens when they turn 18 will the court system make excuses as well and continue to accept such ridiculous behavior that interferes with the rest of societies daily lives? Stop coddling these animals there used to be a juvenile detention center in Chester town send their asses there get them ready for their future
DeleteI sure hope you don't work there. Your spelling and grammar are horrible. You should be embarrassed.
DeleteHate to be the one that tells you, but Salisbury is an inner city.
ReplyDeleteSo glad we moved out of the area. Now have good jobs, home that has increased in value and great schools.
ReplyDeleteSBY/Wicomico's economy? Humm, SNAP, Independence, Section 8, put kids in public school for free baby sitting, Shore Transit, opiods, that's about it, pretty well sums it up.
ReplyDeleteAnd all you hear on the local news is about a job fair where they are looking for teachers to fill vacant spots....who would want to after all the crap that goes on in our schools ??
ReplyDeleteSomeone said there are guns brought to school by students. Are there metal detectors in the schools to prevent this? Maybe they should have armed guards at the doors to greet students every morning and be a reminder that they are being watched and misbehavior will be dealt with. If they want to act like animals, they should be treated like one.
ReplyDeleteBiggest problem is that they (the problem kids) just don't care. They have this attitude of not caring about anything. It's very sad. I've seen this change in just the past few years.
DeleteWe were in front of Acme Friday after school and saw the black motorcycle riders doing their wheelies. We just got out of there.
ReplyDeleteParkside alumni
DeleteThe economy sucks around here. Most of students at Parkside are prodigy's Prince St. slums, Willards, Pittsville, and reflects the high poverty around here. What a shame.
ReplyDeleteThere are a lot of good kids that go to Parkside from those areas. Please don't lump them in with the nitwits. We live in pittsville area to not have to deal with the crap in salisbury.
DeleteThere are some real bums from the pittsville Willard's area but the worst are from the reservation, fruitland and doverdale area. We got em from everywhere. That's part of the issue.
Delete10:03
ReplyDeleteIf you think private schools don't "cover up" ,you need your head examined. Bullying is just as bad and incidents are kept quiet all the time.
I know someone who was sexually abused at a private school and they covered it up and refused to cooperate with authorities.
Its worse, because unlike public schools, there is no "board" to keep them in line.
What happened with Ayieko, Poulson, Oge?? This speaks volumes about what's going on at parkside and the character/,integrity displayed. These kids were supposed to be top college football recruits and a weeks passed by and not a peep.
ReplyDeleteNo grades/sat scores or probably borderline character issues.
DeleteHeard they were "offered" to be walkon's at the dysfunctional Virginia U @ Lynchburg program & oge was offered some kind of preferred walkon status at bowie state. Sad when these kids had the type of high school careers they had but because of character and grades its all been in vain so far. See if they do anything about it. Pretty expensive mistakes considering no scholarship money
DeleteDon't fall for any of the garbage these kids are bad as hell except when mommies around then its all about god and whatever the lords will is
DeleteYea there must be a SERIOUS red flag on the Oge kid. He's posted some garbage about the two previous invites to walk on and now some garbage about division 3 Wesley college in Dover, an SU opponent. Must be something pretty bad they've found out on him for his options to be so limited. Parkside has some pretty serious problems going on from within.
DeleteHe will never be able to pass a class. Not willing to waste time and money on him.
Delete1054 is right. Come over here to the civic center and just count the workers compared to supervisors
ReplyDeleteBMS has open discussion on safety concerns Tuesday 7pm-8pm at Wor-Wic. Mike Lewis and Donna Hamlin will be there. Supposedly not just for BMS but whole community. Parents/family/students welcome
ReplyDeleteYeah, I'm sure shells listen well. Then do nothing.
DeleteI question the police communication in this matter. Why so many police and long guns in one area. Looks like more Mike Lewis overkill. What type of cross fire situation was presented when this type of uncontrolled response took place. Poor training and lack of leadership period. If no active shooter was confirmed this response was a sign of piss poor tactical training by the Sheriff's Office. Auto semi auto who cares. These weapons do not fire on their own. Looks like someone needs to consider a little more training.
ReplyDeleteO.K. that is 10 minutes i will never get back. What Happened and why was so many cops with guns drawn at the school.
ReplyDeletethe way the whole system is today it is not always the parents fault that their kid or kids are bad. the kids all know that all they have to do is cry child abuse if the parents try to discipline them.and the kids are free to do what ever they want when ever they want.
ReplyDelete
