Breaking News: President Trump imposed steep tariffs on washing machines and solar products, making good on a pledge to protect U.S. industry from imports
President Trump was responding to two separate trade cases that sought to protect American industry from a flood of cheap imports, including from China, the United States trade representative said Monday.
Yea. Not many choices in american made washing machines.
In 1976, Sears expanded the Kenmore name to its line of refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, and dehumidifiers, which were previously branded as Coldspot. As of 2017, Kenmore products are produced by manufacturers such as Whirlpool, LG, Electrolux, Panasonic, Cleva North America, and Daewoo Electronics.
Get ready to pay more to get a washing machine. Thanks!
We never really made anything memorable or long lasting. Oh not.... I do have a Model T and Model A in the barn. They have outlasted many a washing machine. Typewriters. We have made some great typewriters. The ribbon cost more than they are worth. LOL.
When manufacturing them comes back to OUR soil, our workers who were once on welfare will be able to afford to buy OUR washers and dryers!
You have to have a leader like Trump to make the playing field even with the Chinese and Mexico and other 2nd & 3rd worlds to even the odds like this. We've just never had a financial wizard as a POTUS before.
Get used to it, people, and strap in for another 7 years' ride toward Prosperity!
That's like giving someone a sugar pill, and telling them it will cure their cancer. i looked around our home, and found nothing that said Made in America. And until incomes rise, and seniors are treated fairly, I'll buy everything I need from the cheapest place possible, as long as it's quality. Even the best laundry detergent in the U.S., as rated by Consumer Reports, Peril, (yes, better than Tide) in the U.S. is owned by a company in Germany. Which I can get on sale for the same price or cheaper, than the cheap stuff at any dollar store. You want the cheap stuff, that stuff, as Consumer Reports said, is like rising your clothes with a little bar of soap in your washing machine, good luck.
I was reading a catalog of retro refrigerators while ago 8:01.You can actually get a brand new refrigerator with the compressor ON TOP of it.It looks just like something out of the 40's.
7:28 Just what I want. A washing machine built by an unskilled worker that can barely read and write english making $50/hr at a union job they can't be fired from. Perfect.
Washing machine will cost more. A trip to the laundromat will too when they need to replace washers.
All they have to do is build a factory in America and hire Americans to build the washing machines for them. No tariff to sell to us them. And think of all the transportation costs they will save. I think most of the naysayers will realize that the cost of washing machines isn't going to change that much. And the quality of those machines are going to return to the days of Maytag washers made in America. Quit crying about it already. MAGA!
