Amazon's Cashier-Less Seattle Grocery Opens To The Public
Amazon on Monday will open its automated grocery in Seattle to the public, replacing cashiers with a smartphone app and hundreds of small cameras that track purchases.
For the past year, the 1,800-square foot mini-mart has been open to the company's employees.
There is no waiting in line for check out at Amazon Go, as the store is called — instead, its computerized system charges customers' Amazon account as they exit the store.
Last night, I noticed that the Berlin Walmart has removed all their self checkout equipment. I assume that means than we will see their Scan & Go system very soon here.
For their next trick they will mark your body...(oh its coming people) Bet most of you will knock each other over to be the first on your block to receive "THE MARK".
1:12 The shelves don't stock themselves. The sandwiches are made by people and put in containers. There are customer helper employees there. Just no cashiers/lines or cash to deal with. Do yo realized how much employee time is wasted on cash management in a large retail operation? Hundreds of hours.
4:13. Aim higher than stocking shelves and making sandwiches. The really good paying jobs are for those who design, build and install the technology that makes these stores a reality.
