The Coming Debt Reckoning
American workers, as a whole, are facing a disagreeable disorder. Their debt burdens are increasing. Their incomes are stagnating.
There are many reasons why. In truth, it would take several large volumes to chronicle all of them. But when you get down to the ‘lick log’ of it all, the disorder stems from decades of technocratic intervention that have stripped away any semblance of a free functioning, self-correcting economy.
The financial system circa 2017, and the economy that supports it, has been stretched to the breaking point. Shortsighted fiscal and monetary policies have propagated it. The result is a failing financial order that has become near intolerable for all but the gravy supping political class and their cronies.

Trump’s Order Renews Battle Over Offshore Drilling
OCEAN CITY — President Trump late last week signed an executive order reopening vast areas off the mid-Atlantic coast, including Ocean City and Assateague, to offshore oil exploration and drilling, renewing a years-long battle that resulted in the previous administration reversing the plan.
Communities up and down the east coast and throughout the mid-Atlantic region breathed a collective sigh of relief last March when the Obama administration reversed course on a controversial plan to lease three million acres off the mid-Atlantic coast to offshore drilling for oil and natural gas reserves. The federal government’s reversal came after a year of strong opposition to the proposal from local, state and elected officials, environmental advocacy groups and hundreds of coastal communities on the coast whose economies rely on clean oceans, healthy natural resources, tourism and commercial and recreational fishing.
Last Friday, Trump issued an executive order aimed at expanding offshore drilling for oil and gas and directed Secretary of the Interior Ryan Zinke to begin reviewing a five-year plan to open areas deemed off limits by the Obama administration’s moratorium last March.

Rascovar: Get ready for Maryland’s Democratic circus in race for governor
By Barry Rascovar
For MarylandReporter.com
If the election for Maryland governor were held tomorrow, Alec Ross would win: He’s the only one who officially has announced his candidacy.
Alec who?
Get ready for a circus of a gubernatorial campaign among Democrats. Ross is just the first of what could be a carload of clowns pouring out of a small VW Bug with the bumper sticker: “Dump Hogan.”
Good luck on that one.
Ross’ slick, four-minute video introducing himself is instructive.

Five men were arrested following two incident at Dover Downs Hotel and Casino on Sunday morning. At approximately 1:58AM, officers working inside the casino as an off-duty assignment, were called to a casino entrance to address three men refusing to leave the property after casino employees denied them entry. The three men became disorderly with Dover Downs employees and the Dover Police Officers working at the casino. When Dover officers attempted to take the men into custody, they all resisted. Rashawn Harris (24), shoved a Dover officer and then attempted to strike a Dover Downs Casino security officer. A Dover officer attempted to deploy a taser to subdue Harris, but it was ineffective. When the officer attempted to take Harris into custody, Elijah Scarboro (22), approached the officer from behind and placed him into a “choke hold”, interfering with his ability to breathe. This officer suffered a significant injury to his hand as a result. Other Dover officers were able to remove Scarboro and take him into custody after a struggle. Ronnell Harris (24) was also arrested in the incident.

Obama fights for his legacy: Former President appeals to Congress to save Obamacare
Obama fights for his legacy: Former President appeals to Congress to save Obamacare but refuses to mention Trump as he receives the JFK Profile in Courage Award in front of Michelle and Biden
Former president Barack Obama defended Obamacare as he accepted the JFK Profile in Courage Award on Sunday night in one of his most high-profile speeches since leaving the White House. While not mentioning Donald Trump by name, Obama was critical of the current administration's efforts in dismantling much of his signature health care law. In his speech, Obama urged congressional Republicans to recognize that it takes great courage to champion the vulnerable and sick, rather than just aiding those who are already powerful. Obama was presented with the political courage award by Caroline Kennedy (main) and her son Jack Schlossberg (top right). A number of high profile guests attended the ceremony in honor of Obama, including former Vice President Joe Biden (bottom right), members of Congress and celebrities including former late-night talk show host David Letterman.

Library fines too stressful for Harvard students? What's next for our kids
This week, Harvard University announced that its libraries will be doing away with their traditional 50 cent-per-day late fee on overdue books.
Some might assume Harvard is terminating the fees because the school simply no longer needs the money. After all, the “private” university does receive billions in tax breaks every year.
No, finances had nothing to do with this policy change, which was first noticed by the vigilant folks over at The Harvard Crimson. The sole reason that this (once?) prestigious university is waiving the charge for overdue books is because this practice is just too stressful for students.
That bears repeating: Harvard University students, whom the school hails as the brightest young scholars our nation has to offer, simply cannot and should not have to deal with the stress of overdue book fees.

The College Majors That Don't Pay Off
If you want to make big bucks straight out of college, it's probably wise to avoid choosing any of the following majors...
You will find more statistics at Statista
According to Glassdoor, Criminal Justice and Kinesiology have the lowest starting salary of any U.S. college majors at $40,000. Exercise Science might keep you physically and mentally sharp but it's also at the bottom of the pay grade with the median base salary coming to $40,640.
At the opposite end of the scale, Statista's Niall McCarthy notes that Computer Science ($70,000), Electrical Engineering ($68,438) and Mechanical Engineering ($66,040) are the best majors to choose if you want a lucrative salary after you graduate.

ATF Investigating After More Than Dozen Firearms Stolen From Del. Shop
BALTIMORE (WJZ) — Federal agents are asking for the public’s help after a suspect steals more than a dozen firearms from a Delaware shop.
The ATF is worried they could end up on Baltimore streets.
Authorities say the suspect broke into baker’s hardware in Millsboro, Delaware and stole 13 handguns and a rifle.
The brazen burglary happened early Friday morning, setting off a manhunt across the region.
“The ATF’s number one priority is to keep illegal firearms from winding up in the hands of criminals so that’s our goal today to make sure that we act as quickly as possible,” says ATF Special Agent David Cheplak.
The ATF and National Shooting Sports Foundation are offering a reward of $10,000 for information that leads to an arrest.

Texas judge reprimanded for 'tree and a rope' post
A Central Texas judge has been formally reprimanded for a social media post that said a 'tree and a rope' were needed for a man accused of fatally shooting a San Antonio police detective.
James Oakley was given the reprimand by the State Commission on Judicial Conduct, according to The Austin American-Statesman.
Oakley, Burnet County's top administrator, must complete a 30-hour training program for new judges and four hours of racial sensitivity training with a mentor.
Oakley has said his comment was intended to reflect his personal feelings that the killing 'should qualify for the death penalty.'
He said it had nothing to do with race. The suspect in last year's shooting, Otis Tyrone McKane, is black; Oakley is white.

Attack ads set to begin Monday against Republicans over health care vote
It didn't take long for advocacy groups to attack swing-district Republicans who voted for the American Health Care Act, the bill to repeal and replace Obamacare.
One such group, Save My Care, is set to launch a six-figure ad campaign Monday targeting 24 Republicans who voted "yes" on the bill, which narrowly passed the House last week. The campaign will be a mix of digital and television ads in the districts of the vulnerable Republicans, who include Arizona's Martha McSally, Maine's Bruce Poliquin and New Jersey's Tom MacArthur.
MacArthur, a moderate, was the author of the controversial amendment that offered waivers for states to avoid certain provisions of the health care law, including guaranteed coverage of preexisting conditions. The move was key to boosting support from the House Freedom Caucus, the conservative group of members that prevented the original version of the bill from passing.

Graffiti Artist Busted
OCEAN CITY — A Selbyville man was arrested on multiple counts of malicious destruction of property charges last week after allegedly “tagging” with graffiti multiple public and private properties throughout Ocean City.
Around 2 a.m. last Thursday, an Ocean City Police Department (OCPD) officer responded to North Division Street for a reported malicious destruction of property in progress. Ocean City Communications reported a white male with a Mohawk had been seen “tagging” a green electrical box with graffiti. OCPD officers met with a witness who told police he was returning to his parking spot in a private lot behind the Quiet Storm surf shop at North Division Street when he observed an individual crouched behind a green electrical box.
The victim told police the suspect said to him, “I was making sure you guys weren’t the cops. I’m about to do some graffiti.” The witness told police he said to the suspect, “I wouldn’t do it there,” but the suspect said in return, “I’m going to do it anyway.” At that point, the witness decided to contact the police. The witness provided a description of the suspect to police including his distinctive Mohawk haircut. OCPD officers observed a large electrical box tagged with a five-point star, the word “Spaz” and “Art Saves Lives” in black paint.

Exposing The Renewable Fuels Con
You can’t just sell gas anymore.
Most people don’t realize it, but what they’re pumping into their car’s tank isn’t actually gasoline, properly speaking. It’s gasoline mixed with ethanol alcohol – the ratio currently set at 10 percent ethanol and 90 percent gas (E10).
“Diesel” often isn’t exactly diesel, either.
There is a law called the Renewable Fuel Standard. It requires the “blending” of oceans of corn con ethanol and biodiesel boondoggle into the general fuel supply – ostensibly, to reduce America’s dependence on foreign (and non-renewable) oil.
Like so much that government does, it sounds good – but what it actually does isn’t so good.
The RFS has raised refining and distribution costs as well as the cost to motorists, who not only pay more for the Uncle-adulterated fuel but also for the fuel systems in their vehicles, which have had to be modified to be compatible with the not-quite-gas (and sort-of diesel) fuels the government is pushing.
These adulterated fuels are also – ironically – less efficient. A gallon of pure gas will take you farther than a gallon of 90 percent gas and 10 percent ethanol because the gallon of gas contains more energy than a gallon of E10.
As is almost reflexively true of everything the government mandates, we get less – and pay more for it.
But that doesn’t mean someone’s not making a buck – as is also usually true when government intervenes in the market.

OC Inlet Dredging Underway
OCEAN CITY — The Army Corps of Engineers dredge boat Murden arrived in Ocean City last weekend for the semiannual dredging of the ebb shoals in and around the Inlet.
The Inlet continually fills in through natural and man-made processes and is often impassable by large-draw vessels, particularly during low tide. While the Inlet and other channels in and around the mouth of the commercial harbor naturally fill in and are in need of continual maintenance dredging, the problem has become more acute in recent years to the point it is now curtailing commercial and recreational activity out of Ocean City.
To that end, the Army Corps of Engineers last Friday sent its dredge boat Murden based out of the Corps’ Wilmington District in North Carolina to begin dredging near the Inlet at the Assateague Bypass. The project began last Saturday and the work is expected to continue for about a month.

While American liberals celebrate his win, Emmanuel Macron readies for a great challenge
Emmanuel Macron on Sunday was elected to become the youngest president in the history of the French Republic and the country's youngest leader since Napoleon despite tens of thousands of documents from his campaign leaking days before and a nationalistic surge in his country.
Macron won about 65 percent of the vote, according to initial estimates, and his competitor — National Front leader Marine Le Pen — called him to congratulate him on his victory minutes after the polls closed. Official results are expected to be available later on Sunday.
A political independent who formed his own movement outside France's traditional party structure, the 39-year-old Macron is now tasked with convincing the French that a former investment banker can calm Gallic economic worries and fight off terrorism and growing concern over Islamic extremism inside his country's borders. On Sunday, he sounded ready for the fight.
"My responsibility will be to allay fears, to make sure that we become more optimistic," he said. "To find again the spirit of conquest which determines France more than anything."

Just A Quick Reminder Of Who's Really In Charge
This week, the world of banking and finance waited with baited breath for the Federal Reserve in the United States to hike… or not to hike… interest rates.
This happens several times each year as the central bank’s Federal Open Market Committee gathers to set monetary policy in the Land of the Free.
To be clear, there is no greater power over a nation than having control of its money supply and interest rates.
Think about it: interest rates influence just about EVERYTHING in the economy.
Changes in interest rates influence housing prices, company stock prices, retail sales, food prices, oil prices, and major business purchases.
Interest rates have a significant impact over employment, business investment, inflation, and the currency’s international exchange rate.
Increases in the interest rate even have the power to bring a government to its knees.
This is pretty extraordinary power. And it has been awarded to an unelected committee that has an astonishing track record of getting it wrong.

Federal appeals court puts lawsuit against Marilyn Mosby on hold
A federal appellate court has put on hold a lawsuit against Baltimore State's Attorney Marilyn Mosby brought by five of the officers charged in the arrest and death of Freddie Gray, pending the outcome of her appeal of the case.
The officers sued Mosby in April 2016 for malicious prosecution, and a federal district judge had ordered that discovery and depositions should go forward as Mosby appealed the suit.
On Friday the 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ordered a stay of the district court proceedings until Mosby's appeal has been decided.

House Oversight Panel to Investigate Iran Deal
Citing a POLITICO investigation, Republican leaders of the House oversight committee said Friday they have launched a sweeping investigation into whether the Obama administration, in trying to win support for a nuclear deal and prisoner swap with Tehran last year, undermined an ambitious U.S. counterproliferation effort to thwart Iranian weapons trafficking networks.
Also in response to the POLITICO investigation, 13 Republican senator have demanded answers about whether the Obama administration jeopardized U.S. national security as a result of its protracted top-secret negotiations with Tehran, and then misled the American public when disclosing the terms of the two deals in January 2016.
The House and Senate lawmakers cited various portions of an April 24 report by POLITICO that found that the Obama administration, through actions in some cases and inaction in others, significantly hampered a much-touted federal law enforcement effort known as the National Counterproliferation Initiative at a time when it was making unprecedented headway in thwarting Iran's illicit weapons proliferation activities.
The POLITICO investigation also reported that during their public rollout of the two deals, Obama and other key administration officials downplayed the threat posed by the Iranian traffickers they were freeing as part of the swap that also freed five Americans held by Iran. The Obama administration officials focused their public comments only on seven Iranian-born men in the U.S. whose convictions or prosecutions were being dropped as part of the swap, and described them as civilians involved in mere sanctions-related offenses but not charged with terrorism or any violent offenses.
In reality, many of the men -- and 14 other Iranian fugitives not named publicly by the top Obama officials -- had been accused or convicted of charges stemming from their alleged involvement in clandestine networks supplying Iran with parts and technology for its weapons, ballistic missiles and nuclear programs, POLITICO reported. The Justice Department itself had characterized many of them as threats to national security, the investigation found.

Federal Court Demands Release Of Hillary's State Dept Emails On Benghazi Attack
A Washington DC federal court judge has ordered the State Department to turn over Hillary Clinton’s emails that immediately followed the terrorist attack in Benghazi to the conservative watchdog group, Judicial Watch.
As RT reports, US District Judge Amy Berman Jackson reviewed the documents and rejected the government’s contention that the records had been properly withheld under FOIA exemption.
The “Defendant contends that it properly withheld eight identical paragraphs in two different emails, which were summaries of calls between the President of the United States and the Presidents of Libya and Egypt in the aftermath of the Benghazi attack,” wrote Judge Jackson in her memorandum opinion on March 20.
The State Department argued the summaries were meant to provide information to senior officials to be used in their decision making on how to respond to a national security crisis.

Expert: North Korea Prepping EMP Catastrophe Aimed At U.S. Homefront
While the international community and news media focus on North Korean missile tests and the country’s nuclear program, one expert warned on Sunday that North Korea may be secretly assembling the capability to take out significant parts of the U.S. homeland via an electromagnetic pulse (EMP) attack.
Dr. Peter Vincent Pry is executive director of the Task Force on National and Homeland Security and is the chief of staff of the Congressional EMP Commission.
Speaking on this reporter’s talk radio program, Pry pointed to two North Korean satellites that are currently orbiting the U.S. at trajectories he says are optimized for a surprised EMP attack. “Aaron Klein Investigative Radio” is broadcast on terrestrial radio on New York’s AM 970 The Answer and NewsTalk 990 AM in Philadelphia and online.
Pry was referring to the KMS 3-2 and KMS-4 earth observation satellites launched by North Korea in April 2012 and February 2016 respectively.
He warned: “They are positioning themselves as sort of a nuclear missile age, cyberage version of the battleship diplomacy in my view. So that they can always have one of them (satellites) very close to being over the United States or over the United States.
“Then if a crisis comes up and if we decide to attack North Korea, Kim Jong Un can threaten our president and say, ‘Well, don’t do that because we are going to burn your whole country down.’
On April 30, South Korean officials told The Korea Times and YTN TV that North Korea’s test of a medium-range missile on April 29 was not a failure, as widely reported in the world press, because it was deliberately detonated at 72 kilometers altitude. 72 kilometers is the optimum burst height for a 10-Kt warhead making an EMP attack. …

Current & Former Employees are now Suing CNN for Racism
There has been much ado - and rightly so - over the goings on at Fox News Channel - sexual harassment, hush money allegedly paid to victims, a string of high-profile resignations (some of which were really firings).
Less in the news is a lawsuit by 13 plaintiffs against Fox, alleging racial discrimination (although CNN covers the store here (but the author writes "Jim Crown" where we're guessing he meant to write "Jim Crow").
Bust even less in the news is a massive lawsuit against CNN. The class-action suit has been growing by leaps and bounds ever since it was first filed in December. Now, some 175 current and former employees have contacted lawyers about going the case.
Only a few publications followed up on the story at the end of April, when the case exploded.
"The lawsuit against CNN, meanwhile, claims the company's Atlanta headquarters is rife with racism," The New York Post wrote on April 27.

Fake law-- How Trump-hatred warps the judiciary
Something ugly is happening to the First Amendment. It is being contorted to enable judges to protest Donald Trump's presidency.
The perennial impulse of judges to manipulate the law to achieve morally and politically desirable ends has only been exacerbated by the felt necessity to "resist" Trump. The result: Legal tests concerning the freedoms of speech and religion that in some cases were already highly dubious are being further deformed and twisted.
Welcome to the rise of fake law. Just as fake news spreads ideologically motivated misinformation with a newsy veneer, fake law brings us judicial posturing, virtue signaling, and opinionating masquerading as jurisprudence. And just as fake news augurs the end of authoritative reporting, fake law portends the diminution of law's legitimacy and the warping of judges' self-understanding of their constitutional role.
Those who try to police the relentlessly transformational projects of constitutional progressives had much to dread from the Obama administration, an inveterate ally of the legal left that did what it could to graft the aspirations of progressives onto the Constitution. But Trump's presidency may be even worse, because too many judges now feel called to "resist" Trump and all his works—no matter the cost to the law's authority and to the integrity of the judicial role.

Pirro: 'You're A Loser, Hillary, Get Back In The Woods'
In her Opening Statement, Judge Jeanine Pirro called out Hillary Clinton for playing the "poor me" card and continuing to make excuses for her election loss.
"We've had it with you Clintons claiming victimhood," Pirro said, after Clinton told an audience she would have been president if the election came before FBI Director Jim Comey sent an October letter to Congress.
Pirro added that since Clinton previously took responsibility for her loss, she should stop blaming "boogey-men" like Comey and others.

New President Of The Wicomico County GOP
Good afternoon! As your new President I address you all with the hopes you and all of your families are enjoying good health and prosperity this season!
In saying that I also am reaching out to all of you and asking you help me help build up our great County. We are partnering with The Hebron Fire Department this Summer during their annual carnival. This carnival is crucial for this volunteer unit to pay for equipment to keep portions of Wicomico safe and lives intact.
I am asking for everyone to pitch in and volunteer for at least one shift at a booth, or a ride whatever the needs of the station requires. Sometimes the stress of such an event takes its toll on a stretched thin Fire Department and they need our help.
An organization such as our is absolutely meaningless unless we support the County in which we reside. Lets stand up and show the community we not only exist but are powerful and strong enough to stand up and be seen!! This message is also directed at our elected officials, I'm talking to all of you too!
As always feel free to contact me personally at 443-880-3603 or at sbradley66@yahoo.com.
There are at least 500 plus members of this page, I'm counting on you to help me make this possible.
Veni Vidi Vici !!

7,000 bodies from mental institution believed buried on Mississippi campus
At least 7,000 bodies could be buried on the University of Mississippi Medical Center campus, officials have estimated.
The bodies are former patients of the state’s first mental institution and underground radar revealed that their coffins stretch 20 acres across campus where the school wants to develop, The Clarion-Ledger reported Saturday.
School officials have ran into an issue in exhuming the bodies: cost. The newspaper reported that it could cost $3,000 to exhume and rebury each body, an effort that could cost up to $21 million.
The school is looking for cheaper alternatives in handling the exhumations possibly bringing down the yearly cost to $400,000 over the next eight years. The school is also looking at possibly creating a memorial for the bodies and opening a visitors center and a lab to study the remains, the paper reported.
“It would be a unique resource for Mississippi,” Molly Zuckerman, an associate anthropology professor at the school, told The Clarion-Ledger. “It would make Mississippi a national center on historical records relating to health in the pre-modern period, particularly those being institutionalized.”

Amid Gas-Tax Revenue Decline, New Fees on Fuel-Efficient Cars
Second in an occasional series of stories on how states are overhauling tax codes to adapt to a new economy.
Lawmakers in California, home to almost half of the nation’s electric vehicles, decided this year to impose an annual fee on the owners of plug-in electric cars beginning in 2020.
Meanwhile, Maine is considering an annual fee on both plug-in electric vehicles and more popular hybrids, which run on both gasoline and electricity and recharge as they go. Both kinds of vehicles still make up a tiny share of cars on the road, but supporters of the idea are hopeful that revenue will rise as they become more popular.
State Rep. Andrew McLean, who chairs the Maine Legislature’s joint transportation committee, acknowledged that the new fee won’t raise a lot of money right away, but he said the move makes sense as a way to “begin the conversation” of tapping more revenue from electric and hybrid vehicles as their numbers grow.

Say It Ain't So: 129 People Have Already Filed To Run For President In 2020
There are way too many signs that the 2020 election is already beginning.
CONSIDER:
-Here's a crazy stat: 129 people have already filed to run for president in 2020, as of Friday afternoon. In fairness, in 2016, more than 1,700 filed. But...
-One of them is President Trump. He's not only already set up a reelection committee earlier maybe than anyone in history, but his campaign released the first ad of the 2020 cycle. Remarkably, it's touting what he's accomplished — in his first 100 days (!).There's already been a flap about stations not running it because of a falsehood in it.

Don't Count On The Senate To Save Obamacare, Or To Save The House
In the Rose Garden last week President Trump and the House Republican leadership celebrated their vote to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act as though it had actually repealed and replaced the 2010 law colloquially known as Obamacare.
It had not, of course. Several more giant steps remain in the process. And more than a few of these same Republicans may well be grateful.
The House, its leaders and rank-and-file alike know that what they have done so far is not yet law. It may not even qualify as a rough draft.
In reality, the House has shoveled a mammoth pile of problems off its porch and onto that of the U.S. Senate. That chamber has announced it is writing its own bill. That is common knowledge, and more than a few House votes were cajoled with assurances that "the Senate will fix" this problem or that.

Tiger Withdraws From 2017 The Players Championship, Calls Out Rory McIlroy!
(ESPN) The PGA is rumored to be launching an investigation into Rory McIlroy over His use of performance enhancing supplements. Tiger Woods stated last week that He thinks the supplements Rory is taking are on par with cheating. Woods, a four-time Augusta National tournament winner, will not play in the 2017 The Players Championship, announcing Friday night that he would be withdrawing from the competition. When asked to elaborate Tiger stated "I want to play but when players like Rory are taking extremely beneficial supplements like Pure Nitro Max – it creates a situation.” Tiger went on to explain his position.
“I know for a fact Rory is using performance enhancing supplements and in my opinion that’s cheating. I know His camp is encouraging Him to continue using Pure Nitro Max as the results have been nothing short of amazing – better focus, more energy, increased hydration and metabolism - how is this fair? Rory's play has improved dramatically lately and I think He can thank Pure Nitro Max for those results.”
