Arizona Challenges the Fed’s Money Monopoly

It is imperative that the law protect people’s right to use alternatives to what may soon be virtually worthless Federal Reserve notes

History shows that, if individuals have the freedom to choose what to use as money, they will likely opt for gold or silver.

Of course, modern politicians and their Keynesian enablers despise the gold or silver standard. This is because linking a currency to a precious metal limits the ability of central banks to finance the growth of the welfare-warfare state via the inflation tax. This forces politicians to finance big government much more with direct means of taxation.

MSNBC’s Ruhle to Warren: ‘You Guys Were In Power’ — Why Didn’t Things Improve for Regular Americans?

During an interview with Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) on Wednesday’s “MSNBC Live,” anchor Stephanie Ruhle asked Warren “you guys were in power for the last eight years. Why is it that it didn’t work for those good Americans you were working for?”

Warren said, “Our problem is not that Washington doesn’t work well enough for the billionaires and the bankers, it’s working just great for them. Our problem is it’s not working for working families.”

Ruhle then asked, “Why? Why has income inequality failed to get significantly better in the last eight years? Because we look at the last 45 days, President Trump is surrounded by those CEOs, who’ve been complaining the last eight years. Why is it good times for them?

Graham Summers’ Weekly Market Forecast (Inflation Edition)

The simplest outline for this week concerns inflation.

Stocks have erupted higher in the last month based on the belief that the economy is roaring once again. However, this is all about sentiment, not reality. The Fed’s own real-time GDP tracking tools has collapsed from predicting growth of 3.5% in early February to just 1.9% last week.

While “growth” isn’t coming anytime soon… INFLATION is.

Globally, inflation metrics are going through the roof. In the US, inflation is now well above the Fed’s target rate of 2%. If you were looking at this chart as if it were a stock, you’d say that was a seriously bullish breakout.

LETTER FROM A FLORIDA TEACHER

Do you know that we have adult students at the school where I teach who are NOT U.S. citizens and who get the PELL Grant, which is a federal grant (no payback required) plus other federal grants to go to school?

One student from the Dominican Republic told me that she didn't want me to find a job for her after she finished my program, because she was getting housing from our housing department and she was getting a PELL Grant which paid for her total tuition and books, plus money left over.

She was looking into WAIT which gives students a CREDIT CARD for gas to come to school, and into CARIBE which is a special program (check it out - I did) for immigrants and it pays for child care and all sorts of needs while they go to school or training. The one student I just mentioned told me she was not going to be a U.S. Citizen because she plans to return to the Dominican Republic someday and that she 'loves HER country.’

I asked her if she felt guilty taking what the U.S. is giving her and then not even bothering to become a citizen and she told me that it doesn't bother her, because that is what the money is there for!

I asked the CARIBE administration about their program and if you ARE a U.S. citizen, you don't qualify for their program. And all the while, I am working a full day, my son-in-law works more than 60 hours a week, and everyone in my family works and pays for our education.

Something is wrong here. I am sorry, but after hearing that they want to sing the National Anthem in Spanish - enough is enough. That's a real slap in the face. It was written by Francis Scott Key and should be sung word for word the way it was written. The news broadcasts even gave the translation -- not even close.

Trump Planned Parenthood Offer Rejected

An informal proposal from President Donald Trump to Planned Parenthood was rejected after the organization, which receives $500 million a year from the government to provide health services to women, refused to stop providing abortions as a condition of keeping or getting increases in funding.

Republicans are looking at various ways to defund the organization, including as part of a bill to repeal and replace Obamacare or by an executive order, but the group signaled that cutting abortion services from its offerings would not be an option, according to The Washington Times.

"Providing critical health care services for millions of American women is non-negotiable," Planned Parenthood executive vice president and chief brand officer Dawn Laguens said to the Times.

Eastern Shore explores fresh approaches for local farming

When we think of agriculture on Maryland’s Eastern Shore, sprawling poultry houses and the grain fields that feed them come to mind. After all, chickens have long outnumbered humans on the Delmarva Peninsula, where their abundance looms large over the health of the Chesapeake Bay.

But Bob Miller is part of a different breed of agriculture that is growing on the Shore, one that’s harder to capture in Bay models but is arguably doing as much to keep patches of farmland from becoming houses.

Miller’s family dairy in Caroline County began selling bottled milk, cream and butter locally in 2009 out of necessity as much as novelty. After his parents moved from New Jersey to Maryland and began raising cows on grass rather than feed, low milk prices in the 2000s forced the family to decide between getting big or getting out.

Blood pressure secret is unlocked

A breakthrough by British scientists could pave the way for more effective blood pressure drugs.

Experts have discovered how the body regulates blood pressure – giving them a way to replicate it with medication.

They found the condition is naturally reduced when nerves which surround the arteries release nitric oxide.

Scientists last night said the discovery marks a ‘fundamental change’ in the way they view blood pressure. Previously, experts thought it was regulated by the blood vessel walls themselves, rather than the bundle of nerves surrounding them.

The breakthrough also offers a clue about the role stress and emotion play in the condition, because these nerves have a direct link to the brain.

High blood pressure – known as ‘hypertension’ – affects one in three adults, more than 17million of the British population.

The condition vastly increases the risk of heart attacks, strokes and vascular dementia, but because it has no symptoms until it is too late, only half of those with the condition know they are at risk.

Once Again, Berlin Gearing Up For Online Vote Contest, But This One Worth $25K

BERLIN – Town officials are hoping an online contest could bring a $25,000 grant to Berlin.

Berlin is one of a number of municipalities entered in this year’s America’s Main Streets contest offered through Independent We Stand. The contest’s grand prize is $25,000.

“This contest, unlike the Budget Travel contest, involves a cash prize,” said Ivy Wells, the town’s economic development director. “We’ve gotten so many awards I’ve lost count but this one because of the prize is worth pursuing.”

The America’s Main Streets contest, according to its website, was created to promote the importance of main streets and the businesses that help them prosper. Wells praised the contest’s focus on the “shop local” movement.

She said she first heard about the contest last year.

Maryland Senate OKs energy efficiency bill

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) — The Maryland Senate has approved a measure to require the state’s five largest electric utilities to provide customers with energy-efficiency programs and services to cut energy consumption by 2 percent a year.

The Senate voted 32-14 for the bill Tuesday, along party lines. The House passed a similar bill last week 92-46.

The measure extends the EmPower Maryland initiative, which was enacted in 2008. It helps homeowners and businesses save energy by offering incentives and technical assistance for adding insulation, sealing air leaks and installing efficient appliances.

Farmers Fight Environmental Regulations

The way environmentalist Craig Cox sees it, streams and rivers across much the country are suffering from the side effects of growing our food. Yet the people responsible for that pollution, America's farmers, are fighting any hint of regulation to prevent it.

"The leading problems are driven by fertilizer and manure runoff from farm operations," says Cox, who is the Environmental Working Group's top expert on agriculture.

Across the Midwest, he says, nitrate-filled water from farm fields is making drinking water less safe. Phosphorus runoff is feeding toxic algae blooms in rivers and lakes, "interfering with people's vacations. [They're] taking their kids to the beach and the beach is closed. There's stories about people getting sick."

ROAD RAGE: Man Smashes Truck Window – Then He Does the Unthinkable…

Road rage is a scary thing — you can be driving along, minding your own business, and suddenly, an insane person comes out of nowhere and attacks you. That’s exactly what happened in Florida last month, and the video is truly crazy.

It’s not clear what prompted the incident, but the man who recorded the video explained why he felt it necessary to begin filming. “I was stopped at a light and was amused to witness the Ford F150 driver shouting profane threats and exiting his vehicle to shout into the passenger side of the BMW convertible,” he said. “Pissed that he had caused himself to be pepper sprayed, he kicked the BMW and then I started recording.”

In the video, viewers can see the driver of the BMW punch through the window of the F150, and then pepper-sprayed the driver in the face. The driver of the F150 got out of his vehicle and tried to fight back, but the driver of the BMW pepper-sprayed him again. The driver of the truck still tried to retaliate, grabbing a metal pole out of his truck bed, but the BMW driver took off.

The ‘Fight For 15’ Continues In Maryland General Assembly

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (WJZ) — Following the footsteps of Baltimore City, there’s a move in the General Assembly to raise the minimum wage to $15 dollars an hour. This would be the second new state minimum wage law in three years.

“No one who works hard should have to live in poverty,” says Justin Vest, with Progressive Maryland.

Maryland workers saw their first increase in 2015 from $7.25 to $8 dollars an hour. Each year brought another bump, to $8.25 and $8.75. It reaches $9.25 in July and $10.10 in 2018.

On Tuesday, the fight is for $15 continues.

“Because the simple reality is there’s not a single country where a working family can earn less than $15 dollars an hour and actually afford the necessities of life,” says Vest.

Rail Projects Bite Taxpayers Hard

The Washington State Republican Party has issued a DEMS Alert (DEMS = Distinctly Embarrassing Moments for Seattle) over the massive tax hit locals will sustain due to the colossally expensive light rail expansion known as Sound Transit 3:

[T]he costs of ST3 are coming crashing down on car owners and property owners who thought someone else was going to pay the $53 Billion!

Yes, Seattle voters are getting the message that you can win an election, but lose big when you close your eyes and vote for every well-funded initiative on the ballot. They are now up in arms about increases of 300% for car tabs (based on MSRP car values). Seattle voters are shocked to see that their property taxes (which will also show up as rent increases for apartment dwellers) have taken a huge jump.

It’s gotten so bad that King County is using taxpayer money to take out ads on Pandora and other radio outlets reminding people that their taxes are going up because they voted for them to do exactly that! …

Yes, Seattle, when you keep voting for tax increases, eventually, the tax man cometh!

There’s a lesson there for all of us.

Technology Makes Big Brother More Plausible

By Thornton Crowe

Anyone whose bought a vehicle from some of the smaller Eastern Shore car dealerships and missed a payment is more than familiar with the kill switch. Called a starter interrupter device, renders the vehicle inoperable until any payment delinquency is satisfied  High-end security systems, such as LoJack, also utilize them to prevent car theft. With the car loan bubble about to burst and more folks are missing payments, banks and dealerships are requiring them; hence, leaving people stranded at stoplights across the Shore, proving their effective.

This is indisputable reality...

Imagine yourself on I-95 going 65mph and suddenly, your car shuts off; power steering and brakes gone! You have no choice but to continue without any way to signal other drivers you've lost control of your car! Instantly, your beloved vehicle turns into a death trap for which there is no escape, not only endangering your life but everyone on the road around you. You become a moving, un-navigational missile ready to collide with anything in your path without discrimination. No doubt there's an 'unfortunate' accident in the making...

While most dealerships won't engage this device on a moving vehicle, put this same technology in the hands of the intelligence community and you become an terror suspect or target of some investigation. Think of the possibilities with any agency going awry. And let's face it, if Eastern Shore dealerships can use this for payment delinquency, can you honestly believe the government couldn't use it against persons they view as a threat?

Yes, I can hear you saying, "Ah, but Thornton, I'd know if I were a target..." Would you? Remember, Fox News White House correspondent, James Rosen, didn't know he was a 'target' for over two years. He had no idea he was named an enemy combatant. He had no idea that his parents' home was under surveillance either.

And THIS, folks, is the reason why the Vault 7 exposure is so terrifying to many whom understand these ramifications and can quickly connect the dots. It is not only about an invasion of privacy, it has all the potential to reek absolute havoc on the entire population should 'rogue' agents decide to use it as a vendetta like the IRS went after targets over the last eight years.

Just something to think about...Make sense now?

Was Obama’s tap of Trump legal, American?

Exclusive: Joseph Farah reveals why scandal is 'bigger and worse than Watergate'

After Donald Trump blew the whistle on the eavesdropping of his 2016 campaign headquarters by Barack Obama’s administration, few in the media or elsewhere seem to be asking the obvious questions:

Was it legal?

Was it ethical – in the American way?

One thing is for certain: If the roles were reversed and the Trump administration bugged Democrats, you can imagine the media would take a much different view.

Let’s first take a look at how the media reported this travesty of justice, political decorum, the Constitution and American legal tradition:

‘A Day Without a Woman’ ignites backlash over left-wing agenda, school closures

It’s being billed as “A Day Without a Woman,” but apparently only pro-union, pro-choice, anti-Israel women who can afford to skip work need apply.

The one-day “general strike” is coming under fire from the right and the left for its mixed political messages, as well as the havoc caused by the closure of some schools Wednesday driven by anticipated staff absences.

At least two large school districts — Alexandria City Public Schools in Virginia and Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools in North Carolina — have announced that they will close in anticipation of hundreds of staff absences, igniting a backlash from parents.

A possible reason for the absences? The U.S. protest is being led by the Women’s March on Washington, whose partners include the nation’s two largest teachers’ unions — the National Education Association and the American Federation of Teachers, an arm of the AFL-CIO.

Now Trump goes after Pelosi for 'lying' about Russia

President Donald Trump forcefully went after both prongs of the Democratic congressional leadership, demanding investigations of both congressional Demoratic leaders after photos purported to show their own Russia ties.

It wasn't immediately clear if the president was serious in his call for an investigation of his rivals. At the moment, it is his administration's own contacts with Russia, and Russia's alleged election hacking, that is the subject of investigations by the FBI and the House and Senate intelligence committees.

'I hereby demand a second investigation, after Schumer, of Pelosi for her close ties to Russia, and lying about it,' Trump tweeted Friday afternoon.

Earlier, Trump went after Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer after a photo surfaced of Schumer and Russian President Vladimir Putin in 2003. The two pols were enjoying donuts during an event for the opening of a Russian-owned gas station in Manhattan.

Grassley rips FBI's reported plans to hire author of Trump dossier

The top Republican on the Senate Judiciary Committee wants the FBI to turn over information related to its alleged offer to hire the author of an unverified and damaging dossier about President Trump.

Judiciary Committee Chairman Charles Grassley, R-Iowa, sent a letter Monday to FBI Direct James Comey, asking first if the FBI ever attempted to hire Christopher Steele. He is a former British spy who assembled a dossier on Trump that accused the president during a past trip to Russia of hiring hookers to perform lewd acts, among other claims.

"The idea that the FBI and associates of the Clinton campaign would pay Mr. Steele to investigate the Republican nominee for president in the run-up to the election raises substantial questions about the FBI's independence from politics, as well as the Obama administration's use of law enforcement and intelligence agencies for political ends," Grassley said in the letter to Comey.

DR. HARRIS: THE AMERICAN HEALTH CARE ACT WILL EMPOWER PATIENTS

WASHINGTON, DC: Dr. Andy Harris released the following statement on the newly released draft of the American Health Care Act:

“Obamacare’s many failures are spiraling out of control. For too long, Americans have seen their premiums skyrocketing, their deductibles soaring, and their choices dwindling. The Obamacare path is unsustainable and dangerous for our country.

Fixing this mess will not be easy, but this week the American Health Care Act (AHCA) was introduced to replace the failing Obamacare system. AHCA will drive down costs while providing every American with access to high quality, affordable health insurance.

AHCA does away with Washington bureaucratic mandates, choosing instead to empower patients and their physicians in health care decision-making. AHCA restores control of Medicaid decisions to the states, helping us to reduce fraud and abuse while promoting flexibility.

AHCA accomplishes all of this while maintaining protections for patients with pre-existing conditions and allowing young adults to stay on their parents’ insurance. We are working to make the transition from Obamacare to the AHCA as smooth as possible.”

What Are Republicans Hiding In Obamacare Replacement Plan?

Remember when Nancy Pelosi famously declared, “We have to pass the bill so that you can find out what’s in it?” She was, of course, referring to the Affordable Care Act, AKA Obamacare, and was justly skewered by “conservatives” at the time for the outlandish statement. Fast forward seven years, and now it’s the Republicans doing the exact same thing.

The GOP has chosen to conceal the text of what may become the replacement for Obamacare. Not only can you – someone the bill will most definitely affect – not read it. Members of the U.S. Senate are not even allowed to see what is contained in the legislation.

Senator Rand Paul, who is advocating for a complete repeal of the ACA, has made repeated attempts to view what he refers to as “Obamacare Lite,” but has still been unable to get his hands on a copy of the bill. The Kentucky senator has even gone so far as towheel a copy machine to where he was told the bill was being housed. Paul, a Republican, was denied access.

The secrecy should be enough to alarm citizens across the U.S. and cause the public to demand to see what kind of health care reform may be about to be shoved down their throats. But what Senator Paul believes the bill contains is the most distressing part of this story.

“When we heard it was secret, we wanted to see it even more because if something is secret, you do worry that people are hiding things,” Paul said speaking to CNN.

He continued:

“What we think is being hidden from conservatives is that there’s a lot of Obamacare lite in their bill. There’s a new entitlement program that will increase at about 5 percent a year forever. There is also a Cadillac tax, or something similar to the Cadillac tax that was in ObamaCare. And there’s also an individual mandate, believe it or not. Instead of paying the mandate to the government, they’re going to tell you that you have to pay the mandate by law to an insurance company.”

Alexandria City Public Schools and Center City Public Charter Schools in D.C. also closed schools Wednesday for the campaign. The cancellations have sent parents scrambling to provide child care.

James Rosen Recounts Being Labeled a 'Conspirator' by the Obama Admin

Fox News correspondent James Rosen recounted on Sunday when the Obama administration labeled him a "conspirator" and sought legal authority to look through his emails.

Rosen appeared on Fox News to describe his personal experience after President Donald Trump accused the Obama administration of wiretapping his phones while he was running for office. FBI Director James Comey reportedly asked the Justice Department over the weekend to publicly reject the president's allegations.

Rosen said he and his parents were not wiretapped but that the government did try to access his personal communications under the Obama administration.

While Barack Obama was president, then-Attorney General Eric Holder requested that a judge authorize federal authorities to look through Rosen's personal emails and obtain his phone records. The administration had designated Rosen a "criminal co-conspirator and a flight risk," the Fox reporter said, because of stories he published on North Korea that contained sensitive information.

Rosen recounted how both Obama and Holder were upset with his reporting after the fact and that what happened to him was unprecedented.

At least a dozen groups have faced extortion attempts since the U.S. presidential election, according to two people familiar with probes being conducted by the FBI and private security firms. They provided broad outlines of the campaign.

The ransom demands are accompanied by samples of sensitive data in the hackers’ possession.

In one case, a non-profit group and a prominent liberal donor discussed how to use grant money to cover some costs for anti-Trump protesters. The identities were not disclosed, and it’s unclear if the protesters were paid.

Hypocritically Demanding Evidence

On Saturday, Donald Trump released a series of tweets in which he alleged that Barack Obama had ordered “wiretapping” at his New York Trump Tower campaign headquarters. Trump’s allegation was met with a litany of Leftmedia finger wagging because he didn’t provide any evidence to back up his claims.

The Washington Post news alert read, “Trump, citing no evidence, accuses Obama of ‘Nixon/Watergate’ plot to wiretap Trump Tower before the election,” and the New York Times headline likewise stated, “Trump, Offering No Evidence, Says Obama Tapped His Phones.” CNN did the least to hide its bias, running the headline, “Trump’s baseless wiretap claim.”

For months now Democrats and the Leftmedia have continuously promoted allegations of supposed collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia, and to date no actual evidence of any collaboration has ever been presented. Yet the mainstream media has the gall to call out Trump for making an accusation without evidence.

Kettle meet pot.

Gender, Race and the Pursuit of Unassailable Power

Nkechi Amare Diallo is back in the news. Nkechi who? One suspects only the most avid followers of the progressive movement’s labyrinthine efforts to alter the meaning of reality itself would be aware that Diallo was formerly known as Rachel Dolezal, the former NAACP chapter head who decided to “identify” as black, despite being born to Caucasian parents.

Perhaps no other human being better reveals the monumental dishonesty of progressives who embrace the “standard” of self-identification — but only as they define it.

Thus, while these self-professed enlightened thinkers champion the idea one can simply declare to be a member of one sex “trapped” in the body of another — utterly irrespective of chromosomal reality — they thoroughly reject the notion that the same standard can be applied to “trans-racialism.”

The result? People like Bruce/Caitlyn Jenner are trumpeted as courageous pioneers and rewarded with both a Vanity Fair cover photo and Glamour Magazine’s “Woman of the Year” award — while Dolezal/Diallo remains a full-blown pariah. A pariah the UK Guardian describes as “jobless, and feeding her family with food stamps.” The paper further notes that Diallo “has applied for more than 100 jobs, but no one will hire her, not even to stack supermarket shelves.."

Two Days After City, Union Sign Contract, Employees Submit Petition Seeking More Rights

OCEAN CITY — Just two days after the Town of Ocean City and its firefighter-paramedic union reached an 11th-hour agreement on a new contract, union officials submitted a petition at City Hall seeking a referendum for binding interest arbitration.

Last Tuesday with the clock ticking down on the negotiations deadline, the Mayor and Council and the Career Firefighter Paramedics Association of Ocean City, or local 4269, reached an agreement on a new contract which to some degree represented a compromise of sorts on the controversial shift change among other things. The contract also provides for employees to be advanced one step in the salary structure and to be awarded a 1.5-percent cost of living allowance (COLA) on July 1, 2017 and again on July 1, 2018, but the shift change issue remained a sticking point despite the agreement reached last week.

Most Ocean City paramedics currently work in 24-hour shifts, followed by 72 hours off. However, citing a variety of reasons, including potential missed calls, delayed responses and national trends, the town remained adamant about phasing out the 24-72 shift rotation in favor of an alternative 12-hour shift or some hybrid of the two. The contract agreed upon by the parties near the deadline last week represents a compromise of sorts, with two 10-hour day shifts followed by two 14-hour night shifts.

Judicial Watch Sues for Records Related to Intelligence Leaks

(Washington DC) – Judicial Watch has announced that it filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit against the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), the United States Department of Justice and the Department of the Treasury regarding records related to the investigation of retired United States Army Lieutenant General Michel Flynn’s communications with Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak. The National Security Agency refused to confirm or deny the existence of intelligence records about communications between Gen. Flynn and Amb Kislyak.

Judicial Watch filed the lawsuit after the agencies failed to respond to a January 25, 2017, FOIA request seeking:

Any and all records regarding, concerning, or related to the investigation of retired Gen. Michael Flynn’s communications with Russian Ambassador to the United States Sergey Kislyak between October 1, 2016 and the present.

This request includes, but is not limited to, any and all related warrants, affidavits, declarations, or similar records regarding the aforementioned investigation.

For purposes of clarification, please find enclosed a CNN report regarding the investigation, which cites information that was provided to CNN by members of the Intelligence Community.

In its complaint Judicial Watch asks the court to order the agencies to search for all records responsive to its FOIA requests and demonstrate that they employed reasonable search methods; order the agencies to produce by a specific date all non-exempt records and a Vaughn index of all withheld records; and instruct the agencies to cease withholding all non-exempt records.

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Government transparency activist group Judicial Watch has filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit against the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), the United States Department of Justice (DOJ), and the Department of the Treasury (DOT) seeking records related to the investigation of retired United States Army Lieutenant General Michel Flynn’s communications with Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak.

Breitbart News spoke exclusively to Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton, who said, “We’ve been looking into this story for months now and the only crimes connected to this Russian scandal we’ve been able to find so far are the illegal leaks of information and the violations of privacy by the Obama gang.”

Judicial Watch filed a FOIA on January 25, 2017 and only filed the lawsuit after the agencies failed to respond. The FOIA request was for “Any and all records regarding, concerning, or related to the investigation of retired Gen. Michael Flynn’s communications with Russian Ambassador to the United States Sergey Kislyak between October 1, 2016 and the present.”
