Why You Should Cut Your Sugar Intake

You've known for years that too much sugar is bad for your health, and science keeps confirming that fact with studies which show how many areas of our health are harmed. It seems that not a single organ remains unaffected.

The latest research, published in the Journal of Hepatology, found that fructose, a form of simple sugar that is processed into a refined sugar, is contributing to the increase of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) in adolescents and children.

NAFLD is the accumulation of extra fat in liver cells in people who drink little or no alcohol, and it is recognized as the fastest growing cause of liver disease in both Western and developing countries. It is estimated to affect up to 30 percent of the general population in Western countries, and up to 9.6 percent of all children and 38 percent of obese children.

Liver disease can progress to severe fibrosis and cirrhosis, and can also develop into deadly liver cancer.

Sugar, especially high-fructose corn syrup, which is used in many processed foods and drinks, has been linked to an increase in obesity, heart disease, diabetes, and cancer in adults.

  1. Well look about what all they're buying on food stamps to be honest it shitty food shitty drinks and all-around shitty. The government has designed the food stamp program to target those low income individuals who can buy twice as much of the cheaper food and they can the wholesome food that they need I don't receive food stamps nor would I ever want to I'm also a white male who serve our country and had a grandfather in every war dating back to the Civil War I just don't agree with the whole foodstamp process Say what you want and say it doesn't pertain to this but it absolutely does it's easier to buy the kids cheap stuff to feed them and easier to make than cooking them a wholesome meal also food stamp recipients should be made to work like Ronald Reagan did back in California just my two cents and hope I haven't offended anyone

  2. Not true 9:23. The government has not designed the food stamp program so people can only buy unhealthy food. They can buy just about whatever they want and that's the problem. They choose to buy the unhealthy things.

  3. All I know is that just about every time that I am in line at the grocery store, there is a person or persons that are using food stamps, and they have twice the amount of food that I have. Makes me sick to see these people able to buy so much more that I can afford to get with my paycheck. Because I strive to be responsible and have a job, I am the one that has to struggle.
