Maryland auditors say the state has issued nearly 600 fraudulent and questionable driver’s licenses and identification cards meant for undocumented immigrants, who have been eligible for the credentials in the state since 2014.
It was not clear who received the fraudulent documents; officials said the people who obtained them under false pretenses might have been undocumented immigrants, U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents.
Under a 2014 state law, undocumented immigrants in Maryland can receive driver’s licenses and identification cards by meeting several criteria, including confirming their identity, proving Maryland residency and submitting a verification number that the state comptroller’s office provides after they’ve shown evidence of filing state tax returns for the two previous years.

Stay classy Maryland. Stay classy!!! Ray!!!
ReplyDeleteCan anyone say, "Vet"? Why even issue them if you don't know who they are going to, and why issue legal ID to ILLEGAL people?
ReplyDeleteGreat job, O'Faily-ites! Hogan needs to fix this one.
How can they verify anything? As a Marylander we have to present a birth certificate. They can't produce a legal one. So how can they obtain these documents? I should be given the same right. They get CDL's and drive school buses but MVA tells me I have to get a CDL-B learners permit to get the school bus endorsement when I have CDL-A with proper endorsement. Where is Hogan on equality that he preaches.
ReplyDeleteImagine our surprise.
ReplyDeleteYou can get a drivers license without proving you know how to drive in Maryland. How convenient.
ReplyDeleteEven DMV agents can be bribed. Happens in every state all the time.
