Proposal Will Return Any Additional State Revenues to Negatively Impacted Maryland Taxpayers
ANNAPOLIS, MD – Governor Larry Hogan announced that the administration will be submitting legislation to mitigate potential negative impacts of federal tax reform on Maryland taxpayers. The legislation will return any additional state revenue received due to the loss of federal deductions and exemptions.
The governor made the following statement at a meeting of the Board of Public Works at the Maryland State House:
“As you all know, it looks like the federal tax reform effort may soon be officially signed into law. Its exact impact on the State of Maryland has not yet been determined. It’s clear that some people’s taxes will go down, and some will go up. I know that Comptroller Franchot and his team will be doing an analysis to determine how Maryland taxpayers will be affected. However, it is very clear that due to the loss of several longstanding federal tax deductions and exemptions, Maryland state revenue will likely increase by hundreds of millions of dollars.
“I am announcing today that our administration will submit legislation that will protect our taxpayers, and which will mitigate negative impacts of these changes to state taxes. Our goal will be to leave that money in the pockets of hardworking Marylanders. I am confident that our partners in the General Assembly who have expressed concern over the impact of this tax reform bill will support us unanimously in protecting Marylanders who could be negatively affected. Protecting taxpayers should be a bipartisan issue.”
Another slim-ball political hack trying to undercut all the good Pres.Trump is trying to do.
ReplyDeleteThis POS should be so proud.
Hogan is a joke. He is sounding like a Democrat. He has done nothing to replace the stolen money from the State Employee Retirement Fund. That is robbing the hard working middle income families and their retirement. Their retirement is also taxed by the State. Not only that Miller and Busch does nothing for the families unless you are a druggy or illegal but spend spend spend and tax the hard working middle income, mostly the working poor middle income and retirees. He is just another rogue so-called Republican.
ReplyDeleteHoagie Neck be pandering for votes to get re-elected? High taxes are a symptom of democrat controlled cities rampant with crime. Democrats crave tax dollars for give aways to city dwellers to get re-elected by the takers. It's easy to pay for votes using other people's confiscated money. All high crime districts are controlled by corrupt democrats but as along as I get my EBT card re-charged I'll look the other way.
ReplyDeleteRead the article. He is trying to lower the state taxes. Maryland would be in far worse condition without him.
ReplyDeleteHogan is playing both sides, but you have to understand that this legislation will actually help the citizens of MD. Instead of spending the additional tax revenue the State would receive as a result of the federal tax reform (as any democrat would do), he's letting the taxpayers of MD keep their hard-earned money. I don't see why people are bashing Hogan for keeping money in our pockets.

ReplyDeleteHogan and get stuck with another O'Malley for a few terms.
