Thousands of American Airlines holiday flights in danger of cancellation after glitch

American Airlines says they are working to resolve a scheduling conflict after a computer glitch allowed all of its pilots to take vacation during the week of Christmas.

The Allied Pilots Association (APA) that represents pilots at the country's largest airline said in a statement that it was notified Friday by the carrier of "a failure within the pilot schedule bidding system. As a result, thousands of flights currently do not have pilots assigned to fly them during the upcoming critical holiday period," it said

American Airlines said on Twitter that they were "working diligently to address the issue." The company adds that they "fully expect" to avoid cancellations during the upcoming holiday season.
