Thousands of Alabama felons register to vote in last-minute push

Thousands of felons across Alabama have registered to vote in recent weeks, according to Pastor Kenneth Glasgow, who is heading up a statewide effort to get felons to the voting booth.

Glasgow's goal is to get as many felons as possible signed up to vote before the end of the day Monday, the deadline to be able to cast a ballot in Alabama's Dec. 12 U.S. Senate special election.

"In the last month, I think we registered at least five- to ten-thousand people all over the state," Glasgow, president of Dothan's The Ordinary People Society (TOPS) advocacy group, said Monday. "I've got people all over the state registering people with my TOPS branches in Tuscaloosa, Birmingham, Montgomery, Enterprise, Dothan, Abbeville, Geneva, Gordon, Bessemer, we have a lot."

For generations, most Alabamians convicted of a felony were barred from ever voting in the state again, but the Definition of Moral Turpitude Act, a new law passed by the state Legislature and signed by Gov. Kay Ivey in May, cleared the way for thousands of felons to restore their voting rights.

  1. This is most illegal and the Judge’s campaign is on it. This should show you how Deep State likes to fix things so that good people lose and bad people win. Remember this during your own election in 2018. Don’t think for one minute the good ole boys won’t try to fix the local election. Not like it would be the first time.

  2. Voting privileges should be taken away from prisoners until they have served their sentencing. If in jail they are no longer part of society.

  3. They will probably do like they did in Detroit, Chicago, LA, use school buses to pick up them and the homeless and drive them to the polls, give them $5 to vote Democrat.

They actually did this for Obama in 2008

    1. Where in the Bible exactly does it say you have the right to bear arms. Yes I believe in the second amendment but it’s not a God given right.

  7. Democratic Party is going WAY LEFT. Look at the Candidates for Governor in MD and you find, support for Sanctuary State, Impeaching President Trump, Increasing the Renewable Portfolio Standard, Wind Turbines in Ocean City, Mend in the Ladies restroom...need I continue.
Time to rid ourselves of creepy James Mathias.
