Salisbury's Liberal Mayor, Spend, Spend Spend The Taxpayers Money

It's Transformational Thursday, and we're getting into the holiday spirit! Check out the pic of our wonderful Field Operations crews assembling the City's new Christmas tree for the Winter Wonderland light display in the Park! The second pic gives you an idea of what it will look like completely assembled!

This tree will be located next to the Bandstand, right up against the river. It's going to be a stunner! Check it out at the Christmas Market and Lighting Ceremony for the Winter Wonderland displays on Saturday, November 25th!

Publishers Notes: I'm sorry, did the City start charging money to visit Winter Wonderland of Lights? Did they hold a fundraiser to afford such a display? Or did Jake Day just go out and spend taxpayer money because he's such a Christian and God told him this was a necessity and the peasants won't mind.

Be here Sunday Ladies & Gentlemen because the articles we will deliver will forever rock everyone's world.

  1. Maybe you can understand why they keep making new taxes and fees, and raising the current ones... Then try to argue with em about how you are not a slave to taxes...

  2. Thought that about ten years back there was a private fundraiser to fund the Christmas lights after the city actually canned them for lack of funds

  3. Is there something wrong with putting up a Christmas tree??
Not exactly sure where you're going with this theme.
If he didn't put up a Christmas tree, would you complain that he was anti-Christian?!

  5. I think it's nice having some decorations up. All this work they do to make it look better helps me forget what a sh**hole this place is

  6. 3:18, Of course not. The "Christmas Tree" that represents Salisbury's celebration is at the Government Office Building each and every year. Many days and man hours are spent putting that tree up, lighting and decorating the tree.

Jake Day, Jim Ireton and Barrie Tilghman haven't paid rent in the GOB for almost 20 years now. They have NO RIGHT pissing away taxpayers money while failing to pay to keep the roof over their heads as agreed to under contract. Enough is Enough!

    2. Aren't Wicomico Officials as guilty as Salisbury Official over the rent deal. If there are signed leases between the city and county, how come the County has not kicked the city out. There must be more to this fiasco than the County is saying.

  7. Salisbury Jake day doesn't care about you, just you're allowing him access to fulfill his social agenda. As far as his Christian declaration, their are several of us that have run into the group he represents as Christians. His self proclaimed spiritual leader, who just five short years ago was doing the same thing with his baseball aspirations to further his kids baseball fantasy. You people don't matter to guys like this it's merely your participation and numbers that matter.

  8. Jim Ireton ain't gonna like that he would say what happened to separation of church and state.

  9. I have to agree @ 3:41 we ran into the so called coach crop now pastor bill and he walked on and talked down to a lot of us while he was professing a so called collegiate and professional baseball career for his kid. Day and cropper are made for each other. Today's version of let me build you up and feel good so I can fulfill my real objectives. Let me ask you people do you really trust Jake day and believe what he tells you? I didn't think so, and our kids found out the same, the hard way with his so called pastor

    1. Yeah Pastor Crop is a real piece of work. I knew him way back when. Thought he was God’s gift to baseball.

  10. I am surprised that Jake is doing this since Christmas is against the gay Snowflakes agenda I am sure fake day will here about this from his cupcake viewers ?

  11. They need a large sign saying: "You attend this event in the dark at your own risk. The city bears no responsibility for your injury or murder".
I'm surprised you don't have to sign a waiver to attend letting the city off the hook if your robbed or shot.

  12. Remember Jake can't spend anything without council approval. Jack Heath had to approve. Could be why your taxes have gone up the past 2 years plus the fees.

  13. How can Jake day profess to be a believer and all of his personal beliefs believe in drunkenness and or drinking, support of homosexuality, lying deceitful behavior. And with such a question a church that accepts such??

  14. Looking at the pics I estimate that tree is going to be 40-50 feet high! I will bet it cost every bit of $250/foot!

  15. Mo money MO money Mo money.....apparently money grows on trees in da Bury. Speaking of Mo Money. Has anybody heard how the city is doing at raising the 2.1 million $ price tag for the Salisbury Folk Festival. Jackie Wolfgang your one of Boy Mayor's homies. How much money have you kicked in?? Ireton what's your contribution to this boondoggle? Come on all you Jake homies....time to put up or shut up!

  16. Jake is moving monies around in the budgets to come up with it, so much for the employees pension fund. They figure the government in Annapolis or D.C. will bail it out!!

  17. Mr. A.

Haven't you heard. Mayor Day is going to announce it as a "holiday" tree and event because "Chtistmas" as Christian roots, and Salisbury can't endorse that. And I'm not making this up.

PS - the buffoon does not realize that "holiday" derives for "holy day."

  18. Americans use "Merry Christmas" and not "happy holidays". Politically correct went out with Obama. Merry Christmas Mr Obama. It's hard to be sarcastic in a text. Does Salisbury get a new 🌲 every year. What's wrong with last year's. We are not the Capitol or White House.

  19. I'm absolutely enjoying the Jake day fiasco!! I pray that the whole festival is a clusterf***. These people are planning some big things through Salisbury and through cropper's church. I'm wondering just how much is going to continue being at the rest of our expense?? As far as cropper and his new self professed concern for Salisbury as a whole, just like day I wouldn't buy into it. If cropper's ploy would have succeeded in his kid having better result with his baseball endeavor his arrogant self righteous behavior would have been as obnoxious as ever. Sir you will continue to receive the same "so called" words of encouragement you have to so many others, it just wasn't you, it didn't happen

  20. Meanwhile the construction on Main Street is still "in progress" (according to their sign, laughably) an ENTIRE YEAR later!! And field operations? Seriously, did they steal that name that from a G.I. Joe cartoon? Maybe all that manpower from """field operations""" can saunter on down to Main Street and get that mess straightened out before they worry with decorating the druggie infested city park with a ton of overpriced Christmas lights.

  22. Perhaps the incredibly insane price to rent skates and ice skate in a small area will fund this latest spending spree

  23. People like jake day and his buddies at church don't worry about anyone but themselves. Their intentions are and always have been are to short term all about me goals. His so called preacher man had no intentions of still being around here now, in his mind his kid would have been on the doorstep of playing professional baseball and he would be coaching college ball down south somewhere. Those were his goals and expectations. The common denominator its all able to be done by taxpayer money and the great old federal 501c3 tax exemption. These guys do nothing more than feed off of false hope and peoples brokenness to sustain a life for themselves

  24. Field operations crew?? Wow Jake day can come up with some crazy slogans can't he?? Transitional Tuesday, winning Wednesday, transformation Thursday. What the hell is all this nonsense?? Us this the new part of public works day had to create for his buddy Stevenson to lead and stay relevant after his departure from trying to do administration work? Man the city of Salisbury needs an overhaul and eliminate at least half of its employees costs from salary and benefits.

  26. Sounds like there's trouble on the horizon for Jake day when all this finally comes to a head. His pastor buddy well sounds Luke there's desention in the ranks people leaving left and right finally seeing through the facade and the pastors true heart and wickedness. The guy was nasty and evil to a lot of people and coming back to roost now. He's paying for his ignorance and arrogance, love it

  27. To the city of Salisbury, it is officially a holiday tree, not a Christmas tree. To the rest of us, we can call it a Christmas tree.

  30. After Jake days little production with the parking meters how/why would anyone still be supporting this douchebag? People like this guy prove over and over again it's all about him and how he can feed his ego. Its sad when people like Jake day and those mentioned in this rgread are actually relevant in your city

  31. Bill cropper I totally forgot how many others had the misfortune I had of your prior baseball "legacy" and greatness ahead, NOT!! Its absolutely hilarious how bad things went so fast and now to listen and hear you grobble about the dislike a lot of us have for you. You deserve the company of old Jake day and his production

  32. 7:21 AM In the real world, mature professionals do not hold press conferences over parking meters.

It was a carnival show. Just like that game was an idiot and a mallet hitting the machine to see how far up the meter went.

  34. 3:40....I would rather the money be "pissed away" on Christmas than a bike lane. I know where to ride my bike without being shown or using a GPS.

  35. I don't have a clue about the ball player or preacher, nor do I give a hoot.
I do like Christmas and decorations. Years ago, when I was a kid the most amazing sight was downtown at the Wicomico County Courthouse. Every inch of that front lawn was surrounded with beautiful lights and decorations along with Santa in his house. It was even way up tall in the trees. After the elaborate Christmas Parade on main street, everyone went to visit Santa. When I say elaborate, there were many, many floats that had a lot of time put in them to show their beauty. Not a dozen cars gunning their motors and burning tires, while displaying a wreath on the grille. Great memories of the past. Today I couldn't tell you what is at the city park because I lost interest some years ago when Santa was removed from display on the corner and replaced with "Wicomico Woody". As I rode past, the displays didn't seem to have Christmas in mind, though pretty. If it ever comes back to the reason for the season, please advise. Because I ride past the park nightly and don't even look anymore. This is not criticism, just personal disappointment.
