Lot in a great neighborhood: How Does This Happen When Fire Department Is 2 Minutes Away?
$60,000 Salisbury, MD
Unfortunately for us our house burnt down, luckily for you, it is now available in the market for whoever wanting to build. Selling AS IS for $60,000. The address is 1117 New Bedford Way, Salisbury MD, 21804. If you are interested, you can contact me. Purchase will be through Caldwell Banker.
There are several factors. How long did it burn before being noticed? How long before someone called? How far did it extend into the structure before being noticed ? When was the home built and what materials were used?. Homes built up To around 1980-85 were built more solid than houses today because of what they were built with. Plywood vs particle board or OSB (flake board) light weight money saving construction comes with a cost when emergencies arise. As I stated there are several factors . Sorry that your home was destroyed and this is unfortunate . I hope you and your family can pick up the pieces and continue your lives as best as possible
Looks like it should be condemned. So you will take the insurance money and sale it as is. Interesting. Sorry for your lost. It must of been devastating.
That brick veneer used to hang from and was supported by the framed walls, now gone. Price should be the price of the empty lot minus the cost of tearing it down and ripping up the foundation. Might offer you ten grand for it.
Oh, wait, it's in the City limits.
Never mind, ten grand wouldn't cover the taxes by the time it got rebuilt. Plus sprinklers... I'll take $20k and the deed. Might be able to flip it to a New Yorker.
What used to be decent house construction standards have turned to crap. Of course, for $5 grand more, there could have been a sprinkler system and only one room would have significant damage.
I’m fairly certain the House was on the market prior to the fire and was vacant at the time. It also occurred in the evening which might explain the delay in fire call.
Check with your insurance company our just cover the cost of as rebuild won't give you a Check for the insurance amount. If they just give you a check for the insurance amount let me know the company I will go get my insurance there
9:40...your precious sprinkler systems mandate has cost this areas Building industry. By the way, if they had a system there would be more damage than one room. Fact!
This probably happens because the city declared a war on volunteer firefighters while placating the paid firefighters whines, moans and groans. Too bad citizens end up paying the price for their war.
Doesn’t help that they took a truck that only had 400 gal of water. Meanwhile, an fire engine sitting right next to it that has 750 gal of water. More useable water in the scene could have helped prevent more damage.
I was up in Delaware on Rt 24 just outside of Millsboro . Wow the housing going up there is insane. Construction everywhere. Not so here in Salisbury. It's stagnet, as well as a crime ridden eyesore. Shows what dumb laws and over regulations do to an area. Sprinklers though a good thing have ruined the building industry here in Wicomico county.
Don't you really know why there is a sprinkler requirement in new constitution in Wicomico county ? It's because unless you have city water you will have to spend a fortune on water tanks and other stuff cause you are on well water. It's to control the growth in the county and justification for the city to run water out into the county and annex such areas. It's just another way for the city to take over the county . Then you can pay King Jake and his jesters more taxes.
Thank you for the most sensible explanation. Unfortunately, your comment was followed with a bunch of ignorant comments by people filled with nothing but hatred. I can't imagine being that negative and hateful.
I live in this neighborhood. This home was vacant, the fire took place in the wee hours of the morning, and I believe it originated in the attic. (Attic fires are notorious for spreading to a very damaging extent before they are noticed, and that's the case even when people are at home). Moral of the story? Sometimes doo-doo happens. Let's not turn a sad situation into a ridiculous one by pointing fingers where they do not belong.
It's not worth 60K . Be careful investors

Were there any smoke alarms that were in working order?

ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure this house is County not City
ReplyDeleteno, that is CITY. `100% sure
ReplyDeleteThat property is a liability, not an asset. Keep paying the mortgage....

DeleteNow Jake Day divorces Wicomico to give you more sub par services like the fire department. Isn't this a hoot?
ReplyDeleteJust barely 2 miles from a paid staffed fire station, how pathetic. Sorry the homeowners lost the house.
