'Epidemic' of loneliness affecting families

More than half of parents suffer from loneliness as they feel ‘cut off’ from friends and family, a new survey has revealed.

One in five (21 per cent) have felt isolated in the last week amid the pressures of bringing up their sons and daughters.

The study from Action for Children warns that an ‘epidemic’ of loneliness in the country is having a ‘devastating’ impact on the lives of children, young people and families.

The charity surveyed more than 2,000 UK parents with children aged 18 and below as part of its month-long partnership with the Jo Cox Commission on Loneliness.

  1. I don't miss my surviving family members. They are toxic and do nothing but cause me grief with their deceptions and lies. No loneliness here. Just relief from the hurt of family members that would do me harm. I hope at least one of my family members that I have disowned reads this (or someone else's family member that wonders why their brother, sister, mom or dad has nothing to do with them anymore). I do not miss the toxic relationship that I used to have with my siblings. My health has improved, both mental and physical, and I sleep better knowing that if I have no contact with them, they can not harm me, or try to take advantage of me.
