#ThoseWhoServe: These Massachusetts firefighters are bringing Thanksgiving meals to families in need. https://t.co/FIni2RubEK pic.twitter.com/kvTH3X02DH— NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt (@NBCNightlyNews) November 23, 2017
Fire Departments in other areas like Marlborough, MA, took turkeys around to indigent citizens in their towns and cities, yet we didn't hear anything like this from our local fire department. Why?
On WBOC's site, there's several stories about local churches preparing Thanksgiving Day meals for those who can't afford to buy their own. Local shelters are also featured...but where is the Salisbury Fire Department?
It used to be our local police and fire department gave back to the community at Thanksgiving/Christmas time, but now, it seems they're too engaged in other activities to be concerned about they community they supposedly serve.
Could it be our local firefighters (paid) are too busy with politics to be worried about such trivials as taking care of the community that pays them? Could it be they are too good to mix with us common folk?
My grandmother always used to tell me that it's not about what people say but what they do that shows their true character. I guess after all the machinations of last summer and their lack of giving during this holiday season thus far, we now know the true colors of our local fire department, don't we?
Noticed the Mayor nor Palmer Gillis nor John Cannon nor Jack Heath were going to the neighborhoods giving out free meals either. They're such a selfish, narcissistic bunch. Rest assured, they'll be around to pander for your vote and/or take your money! Such assholes.
ReplyDeleteNo they are to busy suing the volunteers that do the job for free.
ReplyDeleteNo kidding, 739. I heard that!
ReplyDeleteThe Fire Department in my old town did this every year but after living here for the last three years, all I've seen is the SFD do is fight each other more than anything else.
ReplyDeleteI can't say anything because I didn't do anything either. People who live in glass houses should not throw stones.
ReplyDelete802 you missed the point of the article.
ReplyDeleteWell, as former Chief See said when they were opening the new fire station 16, "We are not waiters and waitresses". This came after I questioned why they didn't provide a fire hall for taxpayers to rent in that monstrous fire house.
ReplyDeleteIMHO, paid firefighters have simply forgotten where they came from. I'm not at all suggesting most are not great people, they are. However, it's the leadership that is pampas.
While on this topic of giving, don't you people find it extremely interesting just how many THOUSANDS of families who are in such destitute here on the Shore?
Again, how many elected officials ran on a platform of JOBS, JOBS, JOBS! Yeah, like someone like Jake Day knows anything at all about creating jobs outside of firing veteran employees and replacing them with young, inexperienced people, creating new positions and growing local government. Typical LIBERAL.
Joe, Liberals don't care about jobs because they think everything should be like the Marxist pipe dream Utopia they read about in textbooks. Problem is, Marxism doesn't work. It never has and it never will. Often theorems are great on paper but seldom do they actually work in real life. Liberals like living paper lives instead of dealing with reality.
ReplyDeleteAmerican Liberals are the ultimate Dreamers! Practicality doesn't factor into their continuum.
ReplyDeleteSFD didnt do this because their volunteer ranks are in shambles. You never see paid FF's do stuff like this. Their union would demand they get paid for their time.
ReplyDeleteSalisbury should have never allowed the SFD to become unionized. Unions ruin everything for workers they're supposed to protect. Look at the teachers for a grand example of this. Ever since the Department of Labor was created, unions become obsolete but organizers continue to pitch unions because labor loves to believe the "man" is against them at every turn. Unions are the 'man' but laborers don't seem to catch that one.
ReplyDeleteSFD should be abolished and Wicomico should have the reins over a fire department for the area. It should go back to volunteer-basis only to put the kibosh on all the dissent.
Some of the nastiest comments come in for this article where firefighters are pissed they've been nailed. You just can't fix stupid.
ReplyDeleteHey are you Lemonade who use to comment frequently?
DeleteDid any of the fire departments in Wicomico County do this?
ReplyDeleteSaving taxpayers dollars....most would be delivered to EBT recipients who already live off taxpayers dime!!!! SAVE THE MONEY!!!!!! Who feed them the other 364 days of the year???
ReplyDeletehere is a question for you. Why is Carl Anderton hanging around with Heath or Ireton? He Was at Iretons announcement for clerk of courts and then he tweeted about it. The same with Heath. Why is that? Why is that Carl? Shouldn't you be backing the others? Instead of hobnobbing with these fools?
ReplyDeleteJake couldn't think of this while he is busy arguing with his wife over hitting it off with a volunteer fireman from a Somerset station . Hey at least somebody likes volunteers.
ReplyDeleteThe union in Salisbury is a joke. They are not recognized by the city. What is the point of them.
