  1. Joe, have you posted anything about the 400k buck amphitheater they are building? Day said it is state funded and is in the city's master plan so they are obligated to fund the plan. Saw this on the 47 page.

ROTFLMAO!! Proof that Jake Day desperately needs a J.O.B.!

Too Bad Fake Day, you lost that opportunity when you hired Julia Glanz and created 2 Assistant City Administrators when you gave your buddies Amanda Pollock and Andy Kitzrow new jobs. Then you hired a person to work on the Folk Festival after you said the second Assistant City Administrator was going to be handling the Folk Festival.

You people have lost your mind if you allow this to happen.

Do you think they are going to self-report. Just leave the decent people alone and get on with fighting crime, homelessness, and the unsightly properties in your 80% rental city.

  7. $75k is a huge jump from $25k. What's he done to prove his worth so that he can collect after the next election? That's including health and life insurance, a company car (wait for it - it's coming) and the invisible mayoral perqs. Day is a shoe-in for reelection at least once, as there's nobody on the horizon with even close to the same corporate pocketbook and support, not to mention his favorite son status.

  11. Rental blight is a plague everywhere. Often who you think are slumlords are just local property management companies. Larger consortium's are running investment funds that specialize in consuming properties driving up rents and reducing the property values of neighboring home owners to acquire their property too. The sub prime lending scandal and foreclosures and the reverse mortgage preying on the elderly has further fueled this investment scheme. It's shameless. Realtors are a schmoozie joke. They should be paying you to buy anything around here.

  16. Turning into another Baltimore for years, since Barrie Tilghman and now one more election and Salisbury will be a suburb of Baltimore. Salisbury already has no professional leaders from Mayor, Police Chief, Fire Chief down the ladder. There is no active Police enforcements, no knowledgeable States Attorney, gun crimes, drug dealers freely dealing, gangs running rapid and all with no prosecutions. I forgot slum lords own 85% of Salisbury.

People are all boo and scared by Socialism and Communism having never been to a socialist country or read the little red book in their Mayberry or Waltons Mountian Library but when local money and small corporate interests are able to place in public office a puppet dope to do their bidding it's what is commonly known to be soft Fascism. It is know surprise. It has happened in the country at large with patronizing promiss to the working " proletariat " LOL and the controlling interests will throw them some crumbs. The statues the Anthem all the none news that we have been distracted by for months now in this new era negates the fact that people need jobs and security. I could care less about Obamacare. Take it or leave it it's just another pinata and we are all blind folded taking blows at it. Lets move on and let it destroy itself and make demands of this administration beyond butt hurt fake news Twitter's and reality TV. I hate to say it but Bannon may just be right. The cabinet may pull the 25th.

  19. 6:47 PM, problem is, the majority of us DID vote for Joe when he ran, but, the corrupness in this town came out in full force and somehow or another(hahaha)Joe just didn't get the votes. Sure I would vote for Joe all over again, however, Salisbury won't let it happen. Just like if we go to a city council meeting. Do you people really think it makes a difference if any citizen in this town goes to a meeting and expresses their concern over crap that they pull? Hell no, it doesn't because their minds are already made up and it's only going before the council because it has to. That's exactly why no one goes to their stupid meetings - already set in stone what they are going to do and by damn they do it, regardless.

The funniest thing is people in smallsbury are renting out their apts over their garages as luxury vacation rental. One has their apt on the edge of the wastewater river for 275 a night. Another one is advertised as - only 30 minutes to the beach! Woo Hoo! What a freaking ghetto this place is.

  23. 200% increase! Wow. The immense duties of the job which include businesses leaving and more regulation. Salisbury is another democrat let down in the making. Hopefully the increase in salary will draw real talent to the position. 40k does not seem unreasonable. These pay increases were in the making. It is obvious now why all the nonsense regulations are being introduced. Need more money to stuff their pockets.

  24. AirBnB's are self-regulating according to their business model. This is only a ploy for control and $$$ from fees for a service that is unwanted and unnecessary.

Bed & Breakfasts were legislated in a few years ago with the expectation that they'd be popping up all over the place in the monster houses in Newtown and Camden. Not a one has opened.

    ReplyDelete
  25. If you look at the comparisons for salary, Salisbury more closely aligns with Cumberland and Dover. Why they chose a Frederick is BEYOND me. Look at the populations of each as well as the budget. Salisbury is nowhere near Frederick’s numbers.

    ReplyDelete
  26. 2010 census data put the racial makeup of the city at 61% White, 18.6% Black or African American, median annual income for a household in Frederick city was $64,833, and the median annual income for a family was $77,642. Males had a median annual income of $49,129 versus $41,986 for females.
The median value of a home in Frederick city as of 2009 was $303,900, with the bulk of owner-occupied homes valued at between $300,000 and $500,000.
The Frederick Historic District in the city's downtown houses more than 200 retailers, restaurants and antique shops along Market, Patrick and East Streets.[41] Restaurants feature a diverse array of cuisines, including Italian American, Thai, Vietnamese, and Cuban, as well as a number of regionally recognized dining establishments, such as Volt and The Tasting Room.
In addition to retail and dining, downtown Frederick is home to 600 businesses and organizations totaling nearly 5,000 employees. A growing technology sector can be found in downtown's historic renovated spaces, as well as in new office buildings located along Carroll Creek Park.

But now he just proposes to enrich himself at the public trough by TRIPLING his income seeking a raise that is more than the average yearly earnings for residents in the area. And far above the average earnings of actual 'bury residents. Must have really galled him to be installing all his inexperienced buddies into big dollar new jobs while he tried to make ends on the mayor's salary, his Guard pay, his wife's job and if he still has the made-for-him-by-his-dad-job at the chicken company.

The Mayor's job in Salisbury isn't a full time job. They just want to pay Jake Day a full time salary because he is unemployable. He can't keep a job any where he goes because he was brought up in the Play Station era of video games and he doesn't know how to work. Jake Day is a Millenial so he won't work and that is their mentality.

Then they will jump on this site or blog to run their mouth about how unhappy they are, and then run their mouth about how YOU are nothing doing for them, what they should be, can be doing for themselves...

It seems that there is nothing this govt agency can do to get the citizens mad enough to want and to effect change... It is just someone else's fault no matter what, all the time... They would probably blame the state of Florida for what is happening in SBY if they could...

  64. I just clicked on the link for "Safety" and looked for the crime statistics. Isn't it funny and Salisbury switches to a brand new and updated web site and web address, but they forgot to update the crime statistics!! Must have done that to hide the skyrocketing crime rate under Jake Day so that he can get his pay raise approved since he is literally unemployed. It's been 3 months since the last update.

    CITIZEN SAFETY AND CRIME STATISTICS
    JULY 26, 2017

    Salisbury's Safest Year Infographic
Increased calls for service and Predictive Policing led to Salisbury’s safest year on record.
UCR numbers for the week of 7/23 show Salisbury down 4.5% in part 1 crimes year-to-date, 2017 over 2016. Violent crime continues to trend downward, and community policing and engagement efforts are redefining the way our citizens think of their Salisbury Police Department. Youth engagement through initiatives such as the Doverdale Hawks lacrosse team have given a safe place to those most vulnerable to negative influence during the hours when they need it most.
