WASHINGTON, DC: On Thursday, October 5, the U.S. House of Representatives passed H.Con.Res. 71 – establishing the federal budget for fiscal year 2018 and setting forth budgetary levels through 2027. Congressman Andy Harris (MD-01) voted in favor of the budget plan and issued the following statement:
“After years of out-of-control federal spending, Congress is finally on track to balance our nation’s budget and begin to pay back the debt with which we have saddled our children and grandchildren. The plan passed today will balance the federal budget and achieve $6.5 trillion in total deficit reduction over ten years.
This budget paves the way for Congress to pass its first major tax reform since 1986, which will provide a much-needed stimulus to job growth following the stagnation of our economy under Obama for the last eight years, and allow hard-working Americans to keep more of the money they earn. I commend President Trump, Speaker Ryan, and Chairwoman Black for their leadership throughout this process and for their commitment to strengthening our nation’s economy.”
"stagnation under Obama", uh-uh. What dream world does he live in? The economy was in free-fall at the start of Obama's term & was doing better when he left.
ReplyDeleteI think the Congress can help the economy still further, but not by lying about things.
