Dozens of arrests as protests turn violent again in St. Louis

ST. LOUIS -- Police say they made dozens of arrests in downtown St. Louis when people ignored orders to disperse after a third night of vandalism that followed largely nonviolent daylight protests over the acquittal of a white former police officer charged in the shooting death of a black man.

Police had warned those still on downtown streets late Sunday that they would be arrested if they didn't leave the area.

Sunday's protest began at the downtown police headquarters.

Following the same pattern of the previous days, well over 1,000 people marched peacefully for several hours in the afternoon and early evening. By nightfall, most had gone home. The 100 or so demonstrators who remained grew increasingly agitated as they marched toward the core of downtown.

  2. Maybe some of these protesters from St. Louis should talk to the neighborhoods in Chicago where the police no longer answer their 911 calls. Rioting over the police has its consequences and like Chicago learned the hard way, its not always a great result.

  3. It seems to me if these shooting victims had not been breaking the law to start with, then they would not end up in confrontations with the Police. But be sure with all of the Police Officers getting shot and killed for no other reason than just doing their job. If you are breaking the law and are confronted by police, do not do anything threatening towards them. Say what you will but the police officer wants to go home alive and unhurt at the end of his shift just as you would. So if you are threatening the police expect to get shot.
